ANI: Agritecture in the New-Generation Industry

(A Proposed Agricultural Science Complex)

I. INTRODUCTION

As the Philippines posed a higher growth path rate of 6.3% during 2011 through 2016;
“AmBisyon Natin” 2040 was established. The platform aims to secure the country’s long-term
national vision by means of improving peoples’ lives. Its visions include; 1) a prosperous ,
predominantly middle class society where no one is poor; 2) a healthy resilient society; 3) a
smart and innovative society, and 4) a high trust society.

Furthermore, “AmBisyon Natin” 2040 and Philippine Development Plan (PDP) both posit that
it takes more than growth to be able to lift the poor out of poverty.

But amid the country’s remarkable growth, agriculture and fisheries sector grew way below to
the target of the previous PDP- farmers and fisher folk remained part of the poorest. Limited
crop production diversification, vulnerability to extreme weather events and many other long
standing issues prevent the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (AFF) sector to harness its full
potential and growth. Recognizing these challenges, PDP thus aims to broaden economic
opportunities in the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (AFF) sector.

Research Questions

1. How could ANI be instituted in our society?

2. How could architecture aid in agriculture?
3. How should the supervision /administration be structures to answer the need?
4. What would be the impact of the project to the province and its city?
5. What kind of facilities would be needed?

Summary of Proposal

The researcher hereby proposes an Agricultural Science Complex where architecture plays an
important role in the field of agriculture that endeavours to diversify and level up the agriculture
sector of the country. This is by erecting “agritecture” structures composed of research
development center, greenhouses, farm warehouse, pavilion, dormitories and cottages. As it
serves its prime purpose, this will also sustain the society as it intends to promote farm tourism
and adaptation processes of nature towards urban centers, though projects that combine
agriculture, landscape and architecture to pursue biodiversity, sustainability and food
production.

The proposed Agricultural Science Complex will be situated at Calapan City in the province
of Oriental Mindoro which is considered as the rice granary of the Southern Tagalog region.
The province’s major agricultural crops include palay, coconut, banana, vegetables and high
value commercial crops.

Through the City Agricultural of Calapan Office, Agricultural Training Institute, Department
of Tourism, the proposal can be funded. Farm Tourism Movers’ of the Philippines Association,
Inc. which aims to provide income for the marginalized farmers through farm tourism and
assists farm operators and would be operators in planning, operations and management through
symposium, workshops and such like will also be part of this endeavour.

The project will be accredited by TESDA and Department of Agriculture.

III. METHODOLOGY

Data Gathering and Procedure

Sourcing of would give the researcher essential information through professionals, government
agencies and organizations. This would be through interviews, internet browsing, case studies,
agency visit, and architect consultations.

Fist, the researcher should conduct ocular inspection that would give key information and data
concerning the present situation of the agricultural aspect of Oriental Mindoro. After then,
interviews would be conducted to agriculturists, related agencies, as well as the end users of
the proposed project. These are the persons that are most particular in the field of Agriculture
that could add inputs to the project. Architect consultation would be essential also, this would
help the researcher in the formation, understanding more and decision making through advices
and clarifications regarding the development. Furthermore, all needed data cannot be found by
only these strategies-internet browsing, library, and other sources would be necessary. The
project needs data consisting standards, guidelines and other useful information. For
accomplishment of this research, finding similar and related projects would serve as a guide in
the development of project.

Cost and Funding Going to Calapan City

Bus Fare (Buendia to Batanggas Pier) Php 132.00

Ferry Fare (Batanggas to Calapan) Php 230.00

TOTAL: Php 362.00

IV. STATEMENT OF LIMITATION

Architectural planning and design for the innovation of the science complex would be the
focus of the study. The feasibility and viability building the proposed establishment is
dependent on the presentation of various activities that could be incorporated in one center
that will vibe each other.

The proposed project is limited and would not cover the whole agricultural field.
