“TO MEASURE THE HEAD LOSS (hL) IN A PIPE OF UNIFORM DIAMETER AND TO INVESTIGATE
REYNOLDS NUMBER.
BEHAVIOUR OF FLOW ON THE BASIS OF REYNOLDS NUMBER.”
INTRODUCTION:
An energy or pressure difference must exist to cause the liquid to move. A portion of that energy is lost
to the resistance to flow. This resistance to flow is called head loss due to friction The Reynolds number,
referred to as Re, is used to determine whether the fluid flow is laminar or turbulent. It is one of the
main controlling parameters in all viscous flows where a numerical model is selected according to pre-
calculated Reynolds number.
OBJECTIVE:.
head loss.
Reynolds number.
PROCEDURE:
First connect the hydraulic bench to fluid friction apparatus.
Now attach the differential manometer one pipe to the entrance of friction fluid apparatus and
other at the end of it.
Turn on the pump.
Now note down the readings.
RECORTED DATA:
DATA ANALYSIS:
DISSCUSSION:
CONCLUSION:
When the Head loss is 0.06m the Reynolds Number equal to 16822 .
When the Head loss is 0.08m the Reynolds Number equal to 21848.
When the Head loss is 0.03m the Reynolds Number equal 11819.
