І. Executive Summary
Mr. Dick Heckman owned a firm named Tower Scientific Manufacturing Company, a
firm that specialize in producing metal implant for joints replacement (knees, hips, elbows,
etc.) the firm is four years old and employs approximately 75 people who range from highly
educated engineers, to unskilled machine operators. The firm has been profitable,production
has steadily increased and employee morale seems to be excellent. Mr Dick Heckman’s
leadership,dedication and hard work make the business successful. With his wife appealed,
he dicided to hire Executive Vice President to take over many of the daily operational
responsibilities and to allow him to take some time off and look into a possible new venture
for the firm and also to give time with his family to enjoy the fruit of his labor.
In this case, problem occurred when Mr, Heckman decided to hire Mr.Howard
Wilkins as Executive Vice President. In a short period of time Mr.Heckman turn over many
of the daily operational responsibilities he used to performed. Transition made in a very short
