A Tribute to Lawrence B.

Hunt: January 30, 1950 – October 10, 2018

We are deeply saddened to announce that Larry Hunt unexpectedly passed away of a heart attack
on Wednesday October 10, 2018. Larry was greatly respected amongst his colleagues, beloved
by his friends and treasured by his family. He is survived by his wife, two of his brothers, his
children and his grandchildren as well as numerous extended family members of which he
considered his employees a part of.

Larry was born and raised primarily in Portland and graduated from Jesuit High School which
was a continual source of pride. He furthered his education by attending Northwestern University
in Evanston, IL where he graduated with a degree in Intellectual History then followed up by
attending and graduating from University of Oregon Law School in 1975.

Larry passed the Oregon bar shortly thereafter and began practicing law under Millard Becker by
cold calling the firm with resume in hand. Millard hired him as an associate and Larry never
updated his resume again. Millard mentored Larry as an associate and their business relationship
morphed into a formal partnership. Over the years of working together, they built a solid
friendship and had a deep mutual respect for each other. When Millard retired in 1997 Larry
created Hunt & Associates where he lovingly and tenaciously continued to grow his general
practice.

Larry grew an unusually large network of friends, colleagues and clients, many of which
occupied more than one of those categories at any given time. He exceled in recalling which
schools nearly everyone in his life attended as well as who was connected to who and how. He
collected interesting stories and tidbits of intriguing information for anyone who crossed his path
and enjoyed passing those stories and tidbits on. He had a gift for making just about everyone he
knew seem interesting.

In 2010, Larry began regularly contributing to the firm’s blog. What began as a chore soon
became an avenue to showcase his sharp wit, keen intelligence and wealth of knowledge. He
truly enjoyed writing and was notoriously snobbish when it came to grammar and vocabulary.
He rarely took himself seriously or showed off, but certainly made an exception when it came to
expressing his thoughts and arguments in writing. Larry wrote many blog posts for the firm over

In his personal life, Larry was a devout Catholic, enjoyed sailing on his sailboat, Breeze (which
he fondly called his mistress), spending time at Cannon Beach, and reading. He particularly
enjoyed drinking wine, reciting poetry, and pointing out unusually specific, lesser known
historical facts. He stopped smoking in 2013, but looked forward to the day that he was
diagnosed with a terminal illness so that he could start back up again. That day never arrived.

The staff and attorneys at Hunt & Associates are tremendously grateful for Larry’s professional
and personal contributions in their practice of law. While many who worked alongside him may
only recall his strong personality, he was equally known for being humble, generous and
amazingly kindhearted. His dedication to the people he loved and respected was well known as
he rarely missed the chance to speak adoringly of them both in their presence and even more so
behind their backs. His presence was undeniable and is already enormously missed.

1:00 p.m. on Friday October 19, 2018 at Springer and Son Funeral Home which is located at
4150 SW 185th Avenue in Beaverton. Services will take place on Saturday October 20, 2018 at
Holy Rosary Church which is located at 375 NE Clackamas Street in Portland. The viewing will
be at 12:00 p.m., followed by the Rosary at 12:30 p.m., and the Mass will be at 1:00 p.m. The
celebration of his life will occur after the Mass in the church hall. Interment will be private for
family members only on Monday October 22, 2018 at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Portland. In
lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Mother and Child Education
