Taught postgraduate students in the Arts & Humanities frequently encounter texts in a foreign
language, both academic and non-academic, related to their studies or research. Whilst English
currently remains the language of publication for the majority of academic texts, there is an
important body of work published in other languages, especially French and German.
To support MA students in their studies, and for their potential future research, Durham University
offers 4 bespoke credit bearing modules in developing Reading Skills for Research in foreign
languages
These modules may be especially attractive to MA students of Archaeology, Classics & Ancient
History, English Studies, History, Philosophy, Theology & Religion and Music.
