WVSU: WEAVING THE FIBERS OF EXCELLENCE THROUGH THE YEARS

In order for a person to survive in the world today, he must be geared with armors

which will help him win the battle. The soldiers must be trained and should undergo rigorous

trainings before they will be sent to the battlefield in order to win. Likewise, students should be

holistically trained and equipped with armors which are essential for them to succeed in the

battle. The armors of our students are roots in education. Education will be the most compelling

weapon that they will have for them to combat and go along with life.

How can we ever forget the name Iloilo Normal Institute and later the Iloilo Normal

School hundred years ago? It was one of the five tributary schools created to address the need

to trained Filipino teachers under the tutelage of Thomasites. Now it is widely known as West

Visayas State University where small dreams and aspirations are made to become a reality.

WVSU’s name had been embroidered in our hearts and can never be forgotten, can never

thrown in despair. It was a name that brought fortune to all those in present and definitely in

the future. West Visayas State University had been instrumental in the realization of every

student’s dreams. It never stops to fulfill its function in uplifting, honing and developing worthy

citizen of the country who can compete with the world. Its name resounds and had received

various recognitions for being a top performing school, being recognized as a center of teaching

excellence and awarded as champion in various contest not only in the region but in the whole

archipelago.

The WVSU community is geared with its high-calibre teachers as the primary weavers of

development. The teachers were recognized for their outstanding teaching performance and

were given awards, the very reasons why many graduating high school students in the region

vie to be admitted in school to earn degrees. Further, they believe that WVSU can provide

updated instructions through the strong support of the faculty and staff, states of the art

facilities and methods in teaching. The achievements of these teachers are proves that the

university is capable of knitting productively brilliant individuals needed in the society.

 Parts of the continuous function of the university are the supportive graduates who had

spearheaded various projects. According to them, WVSU is a big part in their lives; making

them more successful in their career. In addition to this, the university is composed of

organizations that had been instrumental in developing the leadership skills of the students by

engaging them in leadership seminars and workshops. This had served as an avenue for the

students in developing their leadership capabilities, thus empowering them with the necessary

skills and attitudes which they can use to function in their workplaces after graduation.

The West Visayas State University as one of the leading institutions in the country

continues to soar high and achieve excellence. Its name will forever on the pedestal by being

known as the university which is a rich source of determined, resourceful, creative and
