University City’s Mary Ann and
Richard Shaw are among 14 individuals
who will be honored as Ageless
Remarkable St. Louisans by St.
Andrew’s Resources for Seniors System
at a special gala on Saturday, Oct. 20, at
the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch.
The gala celebrates the current
achievements of individuals, 75 years
and better, who are making a tremen-
dous impact in St. Louis through phi-
lanthropy, volunteerism and leadership.
For their part, the Shaws champion
social justice and sustainability through
the arts, education and culture in their
community.
Married for 55 years, Mary Ann, a
founder and past executive director of U
City in Bloom, and her husband Richard,
a retired heart surgeon, spend numer-
ous hours and financial resources help-
ing others for the greater good of the
community.
Whether Mary Ann is overseeing a
vegetable garden program for elemen-
tary students building awareness of
food origin and helping them overcome
food insecurities, or Richard is at a
meeting for one of the nine boards on

involved in ways that bring underserved
communities into the fold in order to
