Course Description This course includes the fundamentals of Human Resource Management covering introductory issues,
strategies, planning for job, people and organization, job analysis, recruiting and selecting talents, building
knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies of employees through training and development, appraising the
performance and rewarding the employees, creating good working environments by maintaining harmonious
employer and employee relationship, managing employee transitions and managing people working globally.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOME
Course Objectives • To give the students a clear understanding on theories of Human Resource Management
• To teach the students the applications of Human Resource Management techniques in business
organizations.
• To teach the students Human Resource Management policies practicing in organizations thus, enabling
the students to make different between theories and practices on Human Resource Management
Student Learning and Upon successful completion of this course, students will able to

Readings and Cases in Human Resource Management Practices 1 st edition: Khasro Miah,
Teaching Method Classroom lecture sessions with duration of 3 hours in a week. A total of 12 classes is scheduled. For group
tasks, students are advised to form teams consisting of 4- 5 members in each. This course will be conducted
in an interactive and a participative manner. Learning will be facilitated through lectures, discussions, case
studies, and group/individual works. Students are expected to attend classes, have read the assigned
textbook chapters before coming to class, prepare for the assigned cases, and actively contribute to
discussions.

Today’s Topics: Acquiring HR – Recruitment: Concepts, Outcomes, Process- organizational and applicants’

preview, Outcomes and alternatives to traditional recruitment. Acquiring HR – Selection: Concepts, Process,
Reliability and interview (Mid-term Exam 1)

Exam formalities:
Students will be notified about the exam date in advance and point’s beak down. It could be straight short and broad question or it can be of multiple
choice questions or a combination of both. Instructor will make those decisions in duly fashion and notify the students. Students are to take the exam
in due date. There is no scope of makeup exam except for serious causes like death in the family or contagious diseases where a student is ill for
considerate number of days. In that case a special permission will be required from the Program Department signed by the Chair of the Management
program/ MBA program office verifying the cause of makeup exam.

Due date policy:


Every individual report, term paper, etc. are due on the exact date that will be announced. Failure to meet deadline will because you lose significant
points. Remember! This is an easy course where you can do well if you just try hard and one of the pre-conditions are handing your assignment on
time.

Class participation/class attendance:


It means the contribution of a student for the class. It involves being respectful toward the lecturer, fellow students, being careful, positive, and bring
lively thoughts for the discussion. And most importantly the attendance will count. Failure to show up in class for more than three times will directly
violate the codes of NSU policy.

Classroom rules for conduct:

 Cell phones must be switched off or in silent mode.

 Cell phone will not be allowed during exam.

 Laptops are allowed if situations require.

 Show respect to your course instructor and peers.

 Do not miss deadlines. All your hard work could mean nothing if you are not serious about due dates.

 Cheating in any form will result in a ‘fail’ grade.
