REGATTA HIGHLIGHTS: The 2010 New Jersey Interscholastic Sailing League

Fall Qualifier brought together the most schools in recent history. We
welcomed some new teams like Pingry and Summit as well many of the older
more established teams. Saturday morning started off sunny with cool
winds coming out of the Northwest with the air temperature in the mid-
60’s. The first race on the Toms River started around 9:45 AM with Dr.
Scot Ellis of Southern Regional serving as PRO of the regatta and
assisting him was Stuart Van Winkle of Red Bank Regional. Overall, we
completed 14 races wrapping up the day of challenging and shifty
conditions by 4 PM. Thank you to all the volunteers and coaches for
helping run another great event at the Toms River Yacht Club. We would
also like to Dr. Drew Siebert and Harry Foote for serving as the judges
and protest committee for the regatta. Congratulations to Toms River High
School South for winning the regatta and to all the teams who have
qualified to participate in the Mid-Atlantic Scholastic Sailing
Association’s Fall District Championship to be held at the Norfolk Yacht
& Country Club on October 23-24 in Norfolk, VA. The top four teams from
that regatta will then automatically qualify for the ISSA Atlantic Coast
Championship to be held at the Toms River Yacht Club on November 13-14.
