for Photosynthesis

What is Photosynthesis?
A phenomenon that converts carbon dioxide into sugars, by means of the energy from
sunlight is known as Photosynthesis.

Photosynthesis is termed from the Greek word “photo” meaning “light”, Synthesis means
putting together

Why Gene Modification by Photosynthesis?

• Most of the people in the world are suffering from starvation.

• Photosynthesis will save food in large quantity.

Observations – 1
• Most of the people in the world are not getting sufficient food for one time.

• Most of them are living in tropical region where sunlight is in large quantity.
Observations – 2
• Sea slugs live on sunlight

• Sea slug gets the ability to do photosynthesis with genes "stolen" from the algae it
eats.

• Same can be replicated in humans by inserting chloroplast from a plant cell.

• Thus humans become capable of photosynthesis.

Hypothesis

Photosynthetic Genes enable Human Skin to do Photosynthesis.

How do we transfer photosynthesis gene?

• Bacteria or virus mediated Gene Transfer.

• Direct Gene transfer (Stem cell culture).

Bacteria mediated Gene Transfer

Step 1: Transfer into Plasmid

• A plasmid is a small DNA molecule that is physically separate from, and can replicate
independently.
• DNA is a plan (like building plan) for development and functioning of all known living
organisms.

Step 2: Transfer of DNA into bacteria

Step 3: Replication in laboratory

Step 4: Inject bacteria into human

Are Green Humans a possibility?

• Gives direct energy.

• Saves food in large quantities thereby overcoming problem of starvation.

• Reduces global warming as carbon dioxide is used for photosynthesis and oxygen is
released

• Once the gene is transferred to the parent body it will then transfer automatically
from one generation to another.
