PUBLIC ACTIVITY AREA
Exhibition Area
 An exhibition space is traditionally the space in which art objects (in the most general sense)
meet an audience. Such exhibitions may present pictures, drawings, video, sound,
installation, performance, interactive art, new media art or sculptures by individual artists,
groups of a specific form of art.

 In the centre, exhibition area could also make revenue to run the administration by selling
the paintings and hand-crafts made by the patients. This would even encourage the patients
to be self-efficient in their future life.

 The area proposed for the exhibition area should be approximately 250-300 sq.m. for the
capacity of 70-80 people.

Audio Visual Room

 Audio visual room is used to teach the patients about various aspects of drug
addiction and its losses.

 This area can be also used to educate the local people about the effects of drug
addiction by conducting seminars.

 The proposed area for audio visual room is 120-150 sq.m. for the capacity of 40-50
people.

Cafeteria

 A restaurant (often in a factory, a college, or an office building) where people collect food
and drinks from a serving area and take it to the table themselves after paying for it.

 The area required for cafeteria is approx. 125-150 sq.m. for the capacity of 40-50 people.

OUTPATIENT DEPARTMENT [O.P.D.]

An outpatient department or outpatient clinic is the part of a hospital designed for the treatment of
outpatients, people with health problems who visit the hospital for diagnosis or treatment, but do not at
this time require a bed or to be admitted for overnight care.
Counselling Room

 The counselling room is a space that needs to be confidential, safe, quiet, comfortable and
even energising, ideally a dedicated space specifically used for counselling.

 It needs to be a well-designed room with natural lighting, a suitable temperature, good


quality comfortable chairs, an attractive decor and suitable soft furnishings so that the client
feels valued and respected.

 The proposed area for the counselling room is 15-20 sq.m.

Psychologist Room

 A psychologist studies normal and abnormal mental states from cognitive, emotional,
and social processes and behaviour by observing, interpreting, and recording how
individuals relate to one another and to their environments.

 The proposed area for the counselling room is 30-40 sq.m.

Physicians Room

 A person qualified to practise medicine, especially one who specializes in diagnosis and
medical treatment as distinct from surgery.

 The area proposed for the room is approx. 30-40 sq.m.

Pathological Lab

 Pathology is a medical specialty that determines the cause and nature of diseases by
examining and testing body tissues (from biopsies and pap smears, for example) and bodily
fluids (from samples including blood and urine). The results from these pathology tests help
doctors diagnose and treat patients correctly.

 The area proposed for the pathology lab is 100-120 sq.m.

DETOXIFICATION AREA

Detoxification or detoxication is the physiological or medicinal removal of toxic substances from a


living organism, including the human body, which is mainly carried out by the liver. Additionally, it
can refer to the period of withdrawal during which an organism returns to homeostasis after long
term use of an addictive substance. In medicine, detoxification can be achieved by
decontamination of poison ingestion and the use of antidotes as well as techniques such as dialysis
and (in a limited number of case) chelation therapy.
Counselling room

 The counselling room is a space that needs to be confidential, safe, quiet, comfortable and
even energising, ideally a dedicated space specifically used for counselling.

 It needs to be a well-designed room with natural lighting, a suitable temperature, good


quality comfortable chairs, an attractive decor and suitable soft furnishings so that the client
feels valued and respected.

 The proposed area for the counselling room is 15-20 sq.m.

Male/ Female Wards

 A ward is a block forming a division of a hospital/ rehab centre (or a suite of rooms) shared
by patients who need a similar kind of care.

 The wards in the rehab centres should be more home feeling, because it makes the patient
more comfortable and makes the recovery period easy to the patient, rather than giving a
feeling of hospital which makes the patient dull.

 The area proposed for the wards is approximately 300-400 sq.m.

Pharmacy Store

 Pharmacy is the science and technique of preparing and dispensing drugs. It is a health
profession that links health sciences with chemical sciences and aims to ensure the safe and
effective use of pharmaceutical drugs.

 Pharmacy store is a shop or hospital dispensary where medicinal drugs are prepared or sold.

 The area proposed for the pharmacy store is 15-20 sq.m.

Nurse Station

 A nurse’s station is an area of a health care facility (such as a hospital ward or nursing home),
which nurses and other health care staff work behind when not working directly with patients
and where they can perform some of their duties.

 The nurse’s stations not only carry out administrative tasks, but also clinically associated
functions that have impact on the delivery of care to the patients. The key functions
performed are: -
Enquiries, information and referral's; Secretarial Work; Chart processing and Management;
Monitoring of patients; Medication preparation.
 The proposed area is approximately 50-60 sq.m.
Psychologist Room

THERAPY BLOCK

Group Therapy / Seminar Room

 Group therapy is a form of psychosocial treatment where a small group of patients meet
regularly to talk, interact, and discuss problems with each other and the group leader
(therapist).
 Group therapy area can also be used as seminar room; so as if there are any seminars
regarding awareness about drug addiction can be conducted in the same area,
 The area proposed for group therapy/ seminar room is approximately 120-150 sq.m.

Prayer hall

 A prayer hall is been there in rehab centres for the patients. This helps the patient to recover
from depression.
 The proposed area for prayer hall is 120-130 sq.m. for 60-70 people.

Yoga Area/ Meditation Area

 A yoga studio is a room, building or other place where yoga classes and instruction take
place. It can be as simple as a single room or as complex as a structure with multiple
classrooms with built-in.

 The proposed area for yoga / meditation area is approximately 125-150 sq.m. for 50-60
person.
INDOOR RECREATIONAL AREA

Music Area

 This is the area is where the addicts get to learn music and learn to music instruments. These
activities help in occupying the patients time and also helps in not to think about drugs/
alcohol during the process.
 The proposed area for the mentioned area is approximately 50-60 sq.m.

Gymnasium

 Gym area is also present in the rehab centres so the patients can be health conscious and
try to be fit to get recover from the addiction through which they are suffering.
 The proposed area for gym is approximately 180-200 sq.m. for 50-60 persons.

Table Tennis Area

 Table tennis, also known as ping-pong, is a sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight
ball back and forth across a table using small bats. The game takes place on a hard table
divided by a net.
 The proposed area for the mentioned room is approximately 20-30 sq.m.

Indoor Games [Chess, Carrom, Snooker]

 The proposed area for the mentioned room is 150-200 sq.m.

Art Room

 The proposed area for he mentioned room is approximately 50-60 sq.m.

The above areas can be designed as per the concept.

DINING AREA
 The area proposed for dining area is approximately 425-450 sq.m. The dining area includes
the dining area (indoor, outdoor) itself, kitchen, storage, washing area, toilets.
LIBRARY
 A library is a collection of sources of information and similar resources, made accessible to
a defined community for reference or borrowing.
 These activities help in occupying the patients time and also helps in not to think about
drugs/ alcohol during the process.
 The proposed area for library is approximately 300-400 sq.m.

ACCOMODATION

 Accommodation is for the patients who have been admitted in the inpatient department.
The patients can be accommodated in single bed, double sharing, or even dormitories as
per the patient’s budget.
 Accommodation is for the patients who are on the serious note of addiction
 The proposed area for accommodation is approximately 2500-3000 sq.m.

ADMINISTRATION

 An administration office is from where the organization/ management is managed and


organized. The administration area includes director’s office, ass. Director’s office,
account’s department, conference room, record room, store room, toilets.
 The proposed area for the mentioned area is approximately 250-300 sq.m.

STAFF HOUSING

 Staff area is where the wards boys, nurses and the director can stay there in their quarters.
 The proposed area for the mentioned area is approximately 500-600 sq.m.
