Aluminum Anodes by ICS

Burners at ICS Foundry in Cileungsi, Bogor

Aluminum anodes are normally used for Sacrificial Cathodic Protection System. As the name
indicates in a Sacrificial System, the anodes are “sacrificed” to protect the assets. Normally
Aluminum anodes are used in an environment where there is low resistivity, where the resistivity
value is lower than 100 ohm/cm. A low resistivity indicates a material that readily allows the
movement of electric charge. Such environment is sea water. Salt water is a very efficient
electrical conductor.

The conductivity of a solution of water is highly dependent on its concentration of

dissolved salts, and other chemical species that ionize in the solution. Electrical conductivity of
water samples is used as an indicator of how salt-free, ion-free, or impurity-free the sample is;
the purer the water, the lower the conductivity (the higher the resistivity).

Our Aluminum Anodes have been installed to protect various assets in sea water such as jetty,
breakwater, off-shore rigs, ship hulls and pipelines. The anodes are manufactured at our foundry
at Cileungsi, Jawa Barat. Each aluminum anode batch are tested to comply with standards and/or
specifications.
