CONCEPTS AND THEORY

A. Use Unless
UNLESS usage is often used in conversation or dialogue everyday. Unless is a
subordinating conjunction. Here's an explanation UNLESS us all to better understand
how to use the word in everyday conversation.
 Unless express a condition
Example :
You won’t get the high grade unless you study hard. (You will get the
high grade only if you study hard.)
 UNLESS we use for a particular action or situation will occur only if
other specific actions that happened before.
Example :
Don’t smoke unless your parents allows you to. (Smoke only if your
parents allows you to do it)
Other examples :
 He’s not going to that event unless his girlfriend comes too.
 I won’t get that chance unless you tell me first
 Unless I’m mistaken, Laura’s office is the second on the left.

UNLESS words have the same meaning as if ... not. As if, UNLESS followed
by the present tense, past tense or past perfect. Unless used as a substitute if +
not in any type of sentence modality (conditional sentences) :
Type 1 (Unless + Present)
