Lesson Plan in English

Grade II

I. Objectives:
At the end of 80 minutes discussion, the grade II pupils are expected to do
the following with at least 85% level of performance.

a. State the noun is a word that names a person, place, things, and animals.
b. Identify noun in the sentence.
c. Participate actively in class discussion.
d. Answer exercises correctly and accurately.

IV. Procedures:

a. Preparation
Good morning class! Are you ready for today’s lesson? (Yes we are).
Show me that you’re ready. Everybody sit tall.
1. Motivation:
I have here a chart on the board entitled pick me a flower. I will
divide you into three groups. Whoever will answer my question correctly,
the group will receive a point and whose group that is noisy I will deduct
their points. At the end of the discussion if whose group got the more
points will receive a prize. Is that clear class? (Yes ma'am)
Class I have here several pictures of people, animals, places, and
things on the board. Who can identify the first picture? (Grandfather) how
about the next picture? (Zoo), the third picture? (Grandmother), the fourth
picture? (Elephant), the fifth picture? (Bag), the sixth picture? (Mother),
the seventh picture? (Lion), the eight picture? (Crocodile) the ninth
picture? (Telephone). Very good! Now let’s check if you’re answers are
correct. I have here with me the different name of the pictures.
b. Presentation:
Class, I have here a short dialogue on the board. I’ll read it first for you
and after that I am going to assign two of you to act as Liza and Mother. Is that
clear class? (Yes ma’am).

Reading a Dialogue:

Liza and her mother are on their way to Manila. This is Liza’s first visit to her
grandparents. On the way, she sees many things.

Reading their conversation:

LIZA: Oh, Mother, I’m so excited to see Lolo and Lola. I’m so eager to see Manila.
MOM: There are many places to see in Manila.
LIZA: Really! What are those places?
MOM: On our way, we’ll pass by Alabang, Sucat, Taguig, Makati, and Pasay.
LIZA: Are there factories and big buildings?
MOM: Of course, there are. There are also many people, hospitals and schools. There
are animals at the zoo.
LIZA: Mom, will we visit the Manila Zoo?
MOM: Yes, we will.

Comprehension Drills:

Did you understand the dialogue class? (Yes ma’am). Let’s check if you
really understand the dialogue. Who are people mentioned in the dialogue? (Mother and
Liza) What places will mother and Liza visit? (Manila and Manila Zoo).What do they
expect to see in these places? (Buildings, factories, hospitals and schools) very good!

c. Substitution Drill

Class I have here some examples of sentences who wants to read?


1. Mother is beautiful.
2. We will go to Boracay tomorrow.
3. I lost my cell phone.
4. The birds are flying.
5. There are so many factories.

Now, what have you noticed in the sentences? (There are underlined words) very
good! What are the underlined words? (Mother, Boracay, Cellphone, Birds and
Factories).Now class I want you to think of a word that can substitute to the underlined
words? Very good!
d. Comparison and Abstraction:

Class in the first sentences! What is the underlined word? (Mother) what
can you say in this word? (It is a name of a person).very good! In sentence number two
what have you noticed in the underlined word? It is a name of a place. Very good! In
sentence number three? What is the underlined word? (Cell phone) okay. What can you say
about the underlined word? (It is a thing) How about number four? (Name of an animal).
And the last number. What is the underlined word? (Factories) what can you say? (It is a
name of a place) Very good!
Class do those underlined words are words that names of a person, a place
and a thing? (Yes maam) so what do you call this word that refers to the name of a person,
place, things, and animals? (Noun) very good. Again a noun is a word that names of a
person, place, things, and animals.

e. Generalization.
Now who can tell to the class what a noun is? (A noun is a word that refers to the
name of person, place, things, and animals. Very good!

Class did you understand our lesson? (Yes maam). I have prepared
exercises for you to answer. Who wants to read the direction?

Directions: Box the noun in each sentence.

1. I go to school everyday.
2. May, Grace, Mark, and John are my classmates.
3. We love to read books.
4. The woman is holding a flower.
5. The baby is crying.
6. Please lend me your pen.
7. The girl is skipping.
8. The bird is in the cage.

V. Evaluation:

Class please gets ½ sheet of paper crosswise and answers the following. Who
wants to read the direction?

Directions: circle all he nouns used in the paragraph.

Sam walks to school everyday. This school is just across the road. He crosses the
pedestrian lane. He raises his hand when crossing the road to make sure that the motorists
see him. When it rain, he waits for her mother near the school park. His mother brings an
umbrella and takes him home.

VI. Assignment:

Write two examples of nouns as needed.

1. Names of persons
2. Names of places
3. Names of thing
4. Names of months
5. Names of animals
