Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

Students will be engaged because of the competitive nature of Kahoot! Students can also be set up on
teams during Kahoot! which makes it more collaborative. In addition to this, it can serve as a review if
students want to play it more than once as a study tool.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.

Prior to the SRT, the class will have watched videos, done research, and practiced with the different locations
of the major regions and rivers in Georgia.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):

☒ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

During the SRT, the students will activate their prior knowledge by answering the questions to the best of
their ability. The teacher will oversee the student’s participation and read the questions aloud if needed. The
only materials needed are a device to take the quiz on and the code to the quiz. The activity should last
approximately 15 minutes.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?

I will present correct answers to the questions after the class completes the quiz because this quiz should
serve as a checkpoint for the students to know how much more they need to study before the test. The quiz
serves as a checkpoint for the teacher to see how/if instruction needs to be differentiated and where the
class is as a whole.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After the SRT activity, the class will go over the correct answers together. The teacher will collect the data
from the quiz to determine the current class standing on the topic.

How will the data be used?

As a result of this activity, the teacher will gather the amount of correct answers per student as well as which
questions were incorrect. This information would be used to let the teacher know if the students need to go
over the location of the major rivers and the regions of Georgia again or if they are ready for a summative
assessment. Students will be awarded a participation grade for taking the formative assessment.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.

My learning goal for this activity is to motivate the students to memorize the given locations. Also to find out
which part of my instruction was clear and what was not.

Reflective Practice:

I feel like Kahoot! impacts student learning by motivating students to use their knowledge to compete with
their classmates and themselves. I designed this as a formative assessment for the students and the teacher
to check where the understanding is at. To further extend this lesson, students could use another technology
tool to play games to enhance their memorization of these facts.
