CUPERTINO
– Meg Whitman today announced the support of the Reverend Samuel Rodriguez,
president of the largest Latino Christian organization in the U.S. consisting of more than 30,400
churches. He is recognized as one of the most influential Latino leaders in America. He is the lead
spokesperson for the 16 million-strong, Hispanic American born again Christian community. He
lives in Sacramento.

"I am honored to have the support of Rev. Samuel Rodriguez. He is the spiritual leader for many
California Latinos and believes, as I do, that our state must do a better job of standing up for
hardworking Californians and representing their family and community values," Meg Whitman said.
"Rev. Rodriguez has worked tirelessly for years to advance opportunities for Latinos, ensuring they
have the tools to succeed across the nation and in California. We both understand that our state's
top priorities must be creating good-paying jobs and rededicating ourselves to fixing our schools.
This is the only way forward for all of us who believe California can again be the best place to
pursue dreams and opportunities."

"I am supporting Meg Whitman today because she is the only candidate who recognizes that no
California family can fulfill its goals and dreams without access to good jobs and vibrant public
schools that educate our children," Rev. Samuel Rodriguez said. "Recent attempts by Meg's political
opponents to exploit Hispanic and corresponding members of the immigrant community for political
purposes is morally reprehensible. California Hispanics are not tools of political expediency but
rather individuals that stand poised to enrich our society with the revitalization of the values of our
founding fathers."

"In contrast, Meg has showed us she cares about the community. She has a positive vision for
giving parents more control over their children's education, including removing barriers to create
more charter schools. She has a plan to help small businesses thrive and she will look out for the
best interests of our families and children,'' Rev. Rodriguez said. "Meg comes with new, fresh ideas
for moving California ahead. We can make California great again and I have confidence that Meg
has the skills, optimism and plan to make it happen."

Rev. Samuel Rodriguez has been described by CNN as "the leader of the Hispanic Evangelical
Movement." He advocates for Latinos nationwide in respect to family, political, spiritual and socio-
economic advancement. Newsweek named him one of the Top 12 People to Look For in 2008. The
Wall Street Journal has identified Rev. Rodriguez as one of America's seven most influential
Hispanic leaders, and the only religious leader on the list. He serves on the board of directors of
some of America's leading evangelical organizations, including Gordon Conwell Theological
Seminary, National Association of Evangelicals and Christianity Today. He's an award-winning
writer who appears regularly in the media as a commentator on Latino issues and evangelical
values.
