RE: Recruitment of Participants for Sewing Craft Training in PSCB

The Datu Ayunan Elementary School of Barangay Bucana Mother Barangay Kalanganan had a
program about “DAY WORMING” that was conducted by Department of Education (DEPED). The
program started at 8:00AM in the morning with a prayer lead by Sir. Dima K. Mosa after the prayer,
followed by a Pambansang Awit lead by one of the teacher that said school.

The formal program started at 8:30 in the morning, the master of ceremony was lead by Ma’am
Malou Hayag . She gave some orientation and briefing to the participants of Barangay Bucana MB
Kalanganan and she also discussed some worms that can cause trouble inside human being , that how
we get them, and what can be done about them.
So, here are the following:

1. Threadworms (pinworms)
Many worms are only a risk in certain places abroad, but threadworms are tiny worms that are common
in the UK, especially in children under 10. . A symptom of threadworms is an itchy bottom, and the thin,
white worms may be seen around the bottom or in poo. Threadworms are passed on from an infected
person, and a lack of good handwashing increases the risk..
2. Roundworms
Roundworm infestations begin by swallowing worm eggs in contaminated food. This is less common in
the UK than it is in some places abroad. Roundworms can live and thrive inside a person. There may not
be any symptoms other than spotting worms in poo. Roundworm infections are treated with
medication, including mebendazole, piperazine, and albendazole.
3. Tapeworms
This worm infection is rare in the UK, but is a risk when visiting some developing
countries. Tapeworms can grow up to 9 metres long inside a person, and may be contracted from
contaminated food or from coming into contact with traces of an infected person's poo. Tapeworm
symptoms include vomiting and stomach pain. Beef tapeworm that only live in the intestine are easier
to treat with tablets than some other tapeworms and their larvae which can spread to organs, including
thelungs, liver, eyes, and brain.

4. Hookworms
These worms shouldn't be a problem in the UK but are worth taking precautions against in some places
abroad where hookworms live in soil contaminated by human poo. The worms can get into the body by
people walking barefoot, or by eating with unwashed contaminated hands. In severe cases hookworms
can cause abdominal pain, diarrhoea, lost appetite, unexpected weight loss, fatigueand anaemia.
5. Schistosomes
Schistosomes are small fluke worms that get into the bloodstream of people through skin contact in
contaminated water and soil, with children mostly affected. These worms cause a disease called
schistosomiasis (bilharzia) that affects around 240 million people worldwide
6. Trichinella
Trichinosis, or trichinellosis, is a disease caused by the larvae from these worms, usually found in raw or
undercooked infected meat, including from pigs. Treatment will involve antiparasitic drugs.
7. Filariae
These worms are responsible for the disfiguring and painful condition lymphatic filariasis, also known as
elephantiasis, caused by worms nesting in a person's lymphatic system. The worms are spread by
mosquitos.
8. Whipworms
These whip-shaped worms and their larvae can live in the intestines once they are contracted by coming
into contact with the poo of an infected person.
Although ringworm is a common search result when looking for worms in humans online, it isn't
anything to do with worms. It's a fungal infection causing a red or silver ring shaped rash.
Ma’am Malou Hayag finished the discussion at 9:30 in the morning, after finishing the discussion,
proceeded with a short open forum to the participants. According to my estimation, almost 50
participants attended the program and out of them, there was only one participant that asked a
question to Ma’am Hayag, the question was “ Ma’am saan po ba lumalabas ang mga ibang bulate
maliban sa puwet? Pagkatapos painumin ng gamot? Ma’am Hayag answered that worms exit in
different parts of our body like through our mouth, and ears.
After Ma’am Hayag’s discussion, the Guest Speaker of the program, Ma’am Ampatuan a nurse,
gave a message. Followed with a short message by Hon.Datu Bimbo Ayunan Pasawiran, Barangay
Chairman of Bagua, MB Kalanganan.
Then followed by a dance intermission entitled despacito Kulentang version participated by the
womens and a house parent.

.
After the intermission, I and Ate Jahara inserted to be part of the program. Ate Jahara started
Then
followed by me greeting the participants “’Al-salaamu alaykum, Goodmorning to everyone especially to
the chairman of this Barangay Hon.
Gobyerno. Unang tanong ano ang GAD? Ang GAD ay The Gender and Development is an approach by
the government to focus on the socially constructed basis of differences between men and women. So,
As part of GAD program the OSWDS thru PSCB or Pruductivity and Capability Building
ay mgkakaroon ng Sewing Craft Training with the use of hi-speed sewing machine para mas mapadali po
ang inyung pagtatahi. Ang training po ninyo ay 6-weeks lamang po or depende po sa bankante na time
ninyo. Pagkatapos po ng training ninyo we expect you to learn and acquire new skills and capabilities sa
Sukran.’’

After we discussed, the program ended at 10:45AM followed by some announcements by one of the
teacher in the barangay school.
