Telecommunication Overall Detailed Engineering Objectives

The project objective for Telecom is to carry out residual engineering for four packages consists of different
types of wells spread over ADNOC onshore fields to meet following objectives

a. To provide uninterrupted telemetry communication for Well Site RTUs to RDS & CDS for remote
control & monitoring purposes.
b. To choose appropriate communication mechanism for different wells based on location & proximity
to existing systems
c. To provide a proper well site communication system to make i-Field DCS Telemetry links between Well
Site RTUs and ICSS located in Control Room.

Telecommunication Basis of Design & Documentation

Following project kick-off, Telecom Engineer will visit the work sites to familiarise themselves with the site
conditions and to collect following details

a. Site Coordinates
b. Existing Communication Systems near to Well Site
c. Make/Model of Existing Communication System.

The Telecom team would produce a project Telecommunication basis of design (BoD). The Telecom BoD would
be the design foundation for the Telecom team and would provide the general design requirements for all the
required Telecommunication System associated with all Well Sites. The Telecom BOD would include the design
requirements for the all the field telecommunication system type, material selection, earthing system
philosophy etc. The BoD would also reference all Industry Standards, Project relevant Client Standards and
Procedures. In the absence of any Client Standards and Procedures, International Standards, Procedures and
Engineering Best Practices would be adopted.

Early agreement and Client approval of the Telecommunication BoD & Philosophy would greatly reduce the
risk of project schedule overrun.

Specification of Modification of Existing Telecommunication Systems shall be produced. Technical Datasheet

shall be prepared for all field items.

Following the approval of these specifications, enquiries would be floated to the market to Client approved
Vendors to acquire the requisite bids. Upon receipt of Vendor bids, cost estimate shall be prepared.

System block diagrams would be produced for Siren System which would also identify all the major
modification & new Sirens. All interface protocols would be categorized on the system block diagrams to
ensure inter-systems protocols compatibilities.

The full suite of agreed Telecom engineering deliverables (construct/destruct) would be produced, including
but limited to System Block Diagrams, Cable Routings, FOC Schematic, Link Budget Calculation, Fibre
Connectivity Drawings, MTOs, Typical Installation Drawings etc.

Following the availability of approved project data, the MRs for the Telecommunication System and existing
system modifications would be issued for approval and subsequent TBEs shall be provided to CONTRACTOR.
All Telecom design activities will be carried out in compliance the ISO 9001 certified Quality Assurance design
procedures.

The Telecoms team would participate in the project HAZOP & Design Reviews. Any impact of these processes
on the Telecoms design would subsequently be incorporated in the Telecoms engineering design
deliverables. The Telecoms team would review other discipline deliverables to ensure engineering
integration and compatibility.

Field Equipment Datasheets

All relevant Telecom specifications would be produced, including for all field telecom Devices, cables
installation and hook-up materials etc. The specifications would define the requirements that the selected
equipment/material must, as a minimum, meet or exceed.

Typical Installation Diagrams

Typical installation diagrams for all field mounted instruments would be produced, which would include but
not be limited to: telecom equipment supports (all types), JB supports, cable tray installation, sunshade
assembly, cabinet supports, cable marker details etc.

Also, typical installation drawings would be produced detailing the support arrangements for any identified
telecommunication devices.
