At present time it is commonly known that not every gene transcrines mRNA that will be
translated to procedure polypeptide. It was known that several genes transcribe tRNA, rRNA as
well as snRNA. Those RNA are not translated to produce any polypeptide, although involved
directly in the synthesis of the polypeptide.
There are many genes detected in various organisms functioning to trancribe so many
types of tRNA pairing with the genetic codes related in translation proces. It is estimated too that
there are 60-63 types of the genetic codes (Lewin, 2000). Therefore it is estimated too that there
are 60-63 types of tRNA and the quantity of tRNA genes are likewise.
There are also several genes detected in various organisms functioning to trancribe
rRNA, although its quantity is not so much like the quantity of tRNA gene. For example in
prokaryotic organisms, there are separate genes transcribing 5S rRNA, 16S rRNA, as well as
23srRNA but in mammalian there are also another gene transcribing 5SrRNA, 5.8SrRNA, 18S
rRNA, and 28S rRNA. On the other hand, in eukaryotic organisms there are too several genes
transcribing snRNA.
