Abstract

Virtual games are pervasive now days and kids start to get addicted to this from a very early
age. These virtual games could be video games, computer games or the most commonly
played mobile games. Video games are innately addictive in nature making children spend
large number of hours glued to the screens, which in term also affects their behaviour. Vast
majority of these games are violent packed and tends to desensitize the children in the real
life. This research will focus on the effect of the video games on the children and their violent
and aggressive behaviour. The research will follow explanatory research design so as to
analyse the relation amongst the two variable i.e. virtual games and violent behaviour. The
research will be conducted on the school students between 9-14 years of age and the violent
behaviour will be compared between the children who spend more time playing games, than
the lesser one. The estimated sample size will vary from 60-70, and the questionnaire will
have around 30 questions. The children of this generation are born in the technological era,
where the mobile phones and internet are learnt way before they learn language, and hence
this tend to leave a huge impact on their behaviour in the real life scenario too. This research
is intended to analyse the effects of virtual games on children, and what could be done to
make such games leave a positive impact rather than a negative one.
