Tugas B.Inggris
Hello my name is Gresella Vannia Quenna Anastasia, more familiar called Gres. I was
born in Jakarta on 30 July 1999. I used to live in Jakarta by the time I was years old, my great-
grandmother passed away and we left from Jakarta to Borneo by plane, to deliver her grandmother
to her last resting place. It started from where my family and I settled in Kalimantan because
grandmother (mother of my mother) told us to settle in Kalimantan. Grandma says she is afraid
that our family will be affected by natural disasters such as earthquakes, volcanoes, floods,
landslides and tsunamis because they are very vulnerable.
First time stepped Borneo precisely on Murung Raya, my mother’s hometown, I was
confused and amazed to see the many forests, mountains and rivers that we passed. Many animals
are wandering like birds, squirrels, monkeys, snakes etc. I meet there directly. I was very surprised
and felt like an adventure, because before I could only see the animals in the zoo and see many tall
buildings such as malls, hotels, corporations, and various vehicles such as cars, buses, motorcycles,
tricycles that fill the highways. The road to my mother’s hometown was up and down the hill and
the road was full of rocks.
Since then I have continued my schooling in Borneo and learned to adapt to the
environment, people, and customs that are there. At first I felt awkward and confused with
everything I just saw and the first time I heard their language, seeing their habits even I was the
first time to live in an area where there are many forests and the forests of big mountains and
rivers are very long. But as time went by, I felt that they were friendly and I got used to everything
that was there.
At the age of 16, I finished my high school and want to go to college. I have the dream of
becoming a doctor. However, my parents advised me to enter the midwifery department.
According to them, being a midwife is a very noble job for being a baby helper for two lives at once
that is to help the mother and the baby to be born. And I also obeyed their willingness to continue
my studies in the midwifery department.
Now I’m 4th semester. There are so many things I have gone through and the experience I
get, especially when I am in the hospital nor is the midwife of independent practice. I’m happy
what I’m going through, becoming a midwifery student. Because, here we are taught to discipline,
thorough and alert in doing the action to the patient. We are also taught to always be hospitable to
patients and to prioritize their safety. I am happy and proud to be part of helping others and
making those who are helped to be cheerful again.
