Safety Instructions
Note:
Always read the safety instructions before any operation.
ZTE shall not bear any liabilities incurred by violation of the universal
safety operation requirements or violation of the safety standards for
designing, manufacturing and using the equipment.
Electric shock:
The high voltage danger exists in the installation and
maintenance of UPS system. Direct contact or contact
with high voltage and mains supply through damp object
will cause vital danger. Pay attention to caution sings and
sentences on the equipment.
1. Both the input voltage and output voltage of UPS are high
voltage. Direct contact or contact with high voltage and mains
supply through damp object will cause vital danger.
2. The UPS has multiple power supplies. Switch off AC power and
DC power before maintenance. Even if all power supplies are
switched off, the internal capacitance of UPS will have charge on
it. So, wait for the release of charge for more than 10 minutes
before dismantling the cabinets.
It is recommended to check the power input of UPS and the
internal parts that might be contacted with a voltmeter before
maintenance, to ensure that all power supplies are switched off
and in the safe state.
3. Do not wear any conductive object such as watch, hand chain,
bracelet and finger ring, during operations.
Danger:
Never drilll on the UPS cabinet without authority.
Improper drilling will damage the components and cables
in the cabinet and the metal scraps will drop into the
cabinet and cause short circuit.
Danger:
Never connect and disconnect live power cables. Before the
operations to power cable, switch off the UPS and make
sure that the cables and cable labels comply with the
installation requirements.
Warning:
Keep the screws and tools properly and do not drop them
onto the fan; otherwise, it will damage the fan or relevant
equipment.
Caution:
It is not recommended to use UPS to power inductive load,
such as printer and duplicating machine. Never use UPS to
power conductive load with high surge current, such as air

Installation Check
After the installation is complete, check its reliability according to
Table 5.
Checkpoint:
Before connecting the battery cables in the UPS cabinet,
check that the battery voltage meets the requirement of
UPS rated battery voltage of 240 VDC.
1. Tools
Before installing battery, take measures to make tools in good
insulation condition: For example, wrap metal part with
insulating tape, to avoid short circuit and human injury.
2. Battery cable
i. The battery cable must comply with the related requirement
to avoid damage of batteries.
ii. Normally, the positive lead should be red and the negative
one should be blue. If black cables are used, label the cables
clearly to avoid confusion.
3. Battery
Each battery pack consists of twenty 12 VDC batteries with the
same capacity, which are connected in series. Use batteries of
the same type. Otherwise, battery performance will be degraded
and the battery life span will be shortened.
After unpacking, use the multimeter to measure battery voltage.
The rated voltage of each battery is 12 VDC. If the voltage is
less than 10 VDC or the shell of any battery is broken, it
Electrical Connections
Precautions
Before electrical connections, learn the related precautions.
Selecting Cables
A set of cables are delivered with the equipment. Table 6 lists the
standard cable colors.
Note:
To use a uniform color for the cables, choose black color. Mark the cables clearly to
avoid confusion.
The cable requirements may be related to the country standards. Please observe
the local rules for cable color.
1. Cable length
Use the whole cable of enough length. There should be no joint
in it.
2. Cable color
Use cables of standard color, listed in Table 6. If cable of non-
standard color is selected, the black color is recommended; in
this case, use the cable sleeves of standard color to clearly
mark cables.
3. Cross-sectional area of cable
It is recommended to use copper-core strand wire as AC power
cable; cross-sectional area of cables should apply to the load.
If the cabling distance is less than 30 m, calculate the cross-
sectional area of cables with the cost-effective current density of
3 A/mm2 ~ 5 A/mm2. Refer to the recommendations in Table 7.
The cross-sectional area of grounding wire should be higher than
6 mm2. The length of cables specified in Table 7 cannot exceed
30 m. If the length is over 30 m, select the cable of bigger
cross-sectional area accordingly.
