Product Reliability
Hardware Hardware reliability lies in the following aspects.
Reliability
1. Board re-power on function
In case of invalid board software reset, implement power-off
reset to the board power supply through CSIM. CSIM controls
over MPIM, MPXM, WBPM and TFM, other boards being unaf-
fected.
2. Board in-position detection function
CSIM communicates with other boards to judge the normal-
ity of their operation, and implements in-position detection of
each board via backplanes or connection cables for higher re-
liability.
3. Board reverse insertion prevention function
If it is inserted upside down, the board fails to contact the back-
plane normally so as to protect the equipment from damage.
4. Power OV, OC and inverse connection protection function
5. Backup strategy
CSIM, TFM and PM boards support the operation mode of
1+1 master and slave hot backup.
BBU adopts the concept of resource pool. Baseband board
supports load sharing.
6. Quality attribute design
-48 V distributed power supply with lightning proof design
Failure remote location, a better mode for field hard fault
and graceful failure.
 Reliable grounding design
Consideration of structure, hot design and overall wiring
 Simplification and error protection design.
Software Software reliability lies in the following items.
Reliability
1. Software operation support
Collects periodical statistics of task CPU occupancy and
heap.
Monitors abnormal status such as system CPU overload,
task endless loop, suspension and dead lock.
Detects various abnormal CPU events and conducts pro-
cessing accordingly.
Provides reset log and black box and records the field infor-
mation when board software failure happens for the con-
venience of failure location.
 Database management
Provides abnormality report mechanism and notifies the
user of detailed failure reason when configuring base sta-
tion with OMC software.
Checks the consistency of NE and OMC data via overall con-
figuration, data uploading and data increment synchroniza-
tion.
Master and slave hot backup to keep consistent data via
overall data synchronization and increment synchroniza-
tion.
Provides data saving protection mechanism via file map-
ping, log and memory to keep the data completion and
consistency in case of emergency such as power off.
Provides abnormal log record function and NE/OMC config-
uration track record function for the convenience of failure
location.
2. Link transmission
Active and standby link changeover to increase link relia-
bility
Transmission layer adopts reliable transmission protocol to
prevent distributed denial attack.
Network layer conducts multiplexing of IP resource and
touting table with VRF and supports transmission via IP de-
fault gateway in case of route search failure.

System Architecture
Architecture Figure 8 illustrates the ZXMBW B9100 system architecture.
ted to the RRU via fiber or local connection. The RRU performs
radio modulation, amplification and filtration on the signal, an
then the signal is radiated through the antenna and received
by access terminals.
 Reverse Service
The antenna receives the reverse service that from access ter-
minals, and passes the service to the RRU. The RRU performs
radio demodulation on the service. The demodulated signal is
transmitted to ZXMBW B9100 through fiber or local connec-
tion. The ZXMBW B9100 decodes the signal, and sends the
signal to core network via R6 interface.
Signal Flow
Service Signal Flow
In ZXMBW B9100, control plane and media plane signals are trans-
mitted through one and the same Ethernet.
Forward Signal Figure 9 shows the forward service signal flow.
Flow
FIGURE 9 FORWARD SERVICE SIGNAL FLOW
The service signal from CN flows through AGW and into the CSIM
board via R6 interface. After Ethernet switch, it is distributed to
MPXM, MPIM and WBPM to finish the MAC and PHY processing of
baseband modulation, and then sent to RRU through the base-
band-RF optical interface.
Reverse Signal Figure 10 shows the reverse signal flow.
Flow
The RF signal from MS flows into WBPM board through the base-
band-RF optical interface. After Ethernet switch, MPXM, MPIM and
WBPM completes the MAC and PHY processing of baseband de-
modulation. Finally, the signal is sent to AGW via the R6 interface
in CSIM board.
Power Distribution
The external -48 V power supply goes through the DC power cable
to PM via its panel inlets. PM then processes and outputs voltages
of 12 V and 3.3 V for distribution into each board in the chassis.
Ventilation and
Heat-dissipation Principles
ZXMBW B9100 adopts forced air—cooling with front intake and
rear exhaust. It is equipped with 3 separated fan units.
The cool air blows into the cabinet through the air intake vent at
the bottom, then goes up guided by the exhaust fan and finally
gets released through the top air exhaust vent.
Figure 12 shows the air flow in the ZXMBW B9100 air channel.

Description GPS antenna is an active antenna. GPS antenna receives GPS
satellite signals and sends them to clock module.
Technical Indices Table 38 lists the technical indices and specifications of GPS an-
tenna.
GPS Feeder
Functions The GPS feeder performs following functions:
Connects the GPS antenna with the clock module.
Transmits signals received by the GPS antenna to the clock
module for proper processing.
Transmits the DC 5 V power generated by the clock module to
the GPS antenna as the working voltage.
PE insulation impedance is 50 ohm. It is one-layer bare copper
braided shielded.
Structure When the GPS feeder length is less than 100m, 1/4" RF coaxial
cable can be used. 1/4" RF coaxial cable appearance is shown in
Figure 55
Technical Indices Table 39 lists the technical indices of GPS feeder cable.

Interface Description
Name
R1 Air interface between the terminal and the RRU.
R3 The interface between the AGW (ASN-GW, Access
Service Network Gate Way) and the CN.
R4 Interface between ASNs, i.e. the interface between
AGWs. It implements some switching-related
signaling and established data channel to maintain
data integrity during switching.
R6 The interface between the AGW and the BS.
R7 Internal interface of the AGW. It is selective. It
divides the AGW into strategy judgment function
and implementing function.
R8 Interface between BSs.
R6 Interface
Signal The signaling between the BS and the ASN-GW is transmitted
Transmitting through the R6 Channel. It adopts a format of User Datagram
Mode Protocol (UDP) plus the format defined by the NWG stage 3. En-
capsulation channel protocol bears media layer data. R6 signaling
bearer is UDP R6 data bearer can be Generic Routing Encapsulation
(GRE), Multiple Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Virtual Local
Area Network (VLAN). ASN-GW terminates the R6 channel from
the BS. R6 channel can be realized through different Encapsula-
tion techniques GRE, MPLS or VLAN and the channel granularities
may differ. The data routing function of R6 supports negotiation
between the encapsulation protocol and the channel granularity.
Control Layer The control layer message format of the R6 interface is shown in
Message Format Figure 61.
Baseband-RF Interface
Baseband-RF interface connects BBU and RRU with compliance
with OBSAI RP3 protocol. BBU and RRU accordingly designed can
interconnect with generality, reliability and flexibility.
OBSAI Frame Message
Structure
Message is the basic unit of OBSAI with 19 bytes of address,
type, time stamp and payload. Figure 64 shows its frame struc-
ture.
The Master Frame at 3 rates are all of 10ms with the line rate as
(I*768000/10ms) *8*10/8=I*768Mbps. 1x rate is 768Mbps,
2x is 1536Mbps and 4x is 3072Mbps.
