NORD Me Wa ene} TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE FOR 3000 & 4000 PRODUCT FAMILIES BEGINNING THE TROUBLESHOOTING PROCESS A.Getting Started NOTE: Review “Basic Knawledge" (Section 3 of Troubleshooting Manual TS3989EN) before performing any troubleshooting. NOTE: Be sure the park brake is applied and wheels are chocked prior to performing vehicle checks or troubleshooting. NOTE: Reference wu alisontransmission.com for Allison DOC™ For PO-Service Too! purchase information and support. 1. Check the transmission fluid level and condition. 2. Use Allison DOC™ For PCService Too! to: * Verify the TCM is receiving proper system voltage. © Verify the TCM is receiving proper input, turbine and output speed sensor signals. * Determine if Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) exist. 3. When a problem exists but no DTCs are indicated, check the following items. Use the various sections of Troubleshooting Manual TS39B9EN to guide the inspection process. * Is the shift selector in Neutral so that the engine can start? * Is the vehicle battery system properly connected and charged? NOTE: All 3000 & 4000 Product Families TCMs are designed to be isolated from the vehicle chassis ground. Be sure the TCM case is nat contacting the vehicle frame or any other point that might provide a ground connection. * Is the engine properly tuned and receiving adequate fuel flow? QUICK-TECH TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE: ALLISON 4™ GENERATION CONTROLS FOR S000 6 4000 PRODUCT FAMILI Is air flow to the cooler and radiator sufficient and unrestricted? Is the driveline properly connected and in good condition? Are there signs of fluid leaks under the vehicle? If yes, what is the leak origination point? Are hydraulic fittings, hoses and lines properly connected and leak-free? Are electrical harnesses secure and connectors properly seated? Are there any other obvious vehicle or transmission problems? Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) 1. DTCs can be read and cleared using Allison DOC™ For PC-Service Tool. Reference www.alisontransmission.com for purchase information and support. Reference the Allison DOC™ For PC User's Guide (GN3433EN) for feature descriptions and navigation. . DTCs can be read and cleared using the shift selector Diagnostic Display Mode (not applicable for strip-type pushbutton shift selectors). Reference www. allisontransmission.com to locate the appropriate Operator's Manual for more information. . Active DTCs are cleared at TCM power down. Some active DTCs will clear when the condition causing the DTC is no longer detected by the TCM. Cleared DTCs may reset if the problem causing the DTC still exists.
