The fetal pig lab was quiet interesting , and each and every step had to
be
done very carefully . Since i was dealing with internal organs a small cut could

easily tear through that particular organ. Everything was pretty much stuck toge
ther
,for example to get to the intestines I had to be careful not to rip the stomac
h. I
had to cut in a particular way if not it was almost impossible to open the fetus
,
also I had to cut deep but not too deep that I would penitrate the organs .This
was very complicated because all the organs looked like they were glued together
,
I knew that organs would be together but not like what i saw in the pig lab , i
t was
almost impossible to seperate the organs and this proceadure had to be done wh
ile
being extremely careful , it even took me longer than I thought .

First I had cut the fetus in a particular cut , and then try to open it
by cracking
the ribs open. My pig fetus ended up being a male , I recognized the sex because
the
male fetus had a sack where the testicles go. The fetus had 14 nipples , and mea
sured
35 cm long. The tounge measure 7.5 cm long. Also my Pig Fetus had 8 teeth total ,
Four
in the maxilla, and 4 in the mandible.

I had to cut under the tounge through all the tendons and veins that conn
ect to
the abdominal wall, this part was very intesne because i had to be very careful
not to
rupture and organ.I had to pull the organs up while with my scissor cutting thr
oug the
tendons and veins. This way I was able to remove all the organs without bruisin
g any
organ. At this point all the organs looked like they were in a knot , everythin
g was stuck
together.I had to slowly seperate everything one by one. The heart was amazing
it measured
6cm long ,and 9cm in width.

Second, I measured the lungs. Each lung measure 10cm in length and 9 cm in
width.I cut them open to see what it may have had inside and it was just a tissu
e .
The kidneys measured 4.5cm in length and 6cm in width. I had to be somewhat
careful in removing the viseras because they can easily tear. The liver neasured
12
cm in width snd 7cm in length. The spleen however measured 8cm in length, and
last but not least the stomach measured 2 cm in width and 2 cm long. I opened up
the stomach and even thow it was empty it was full of gastic juice. The liver w
as
the largest organ in the pig fetus body it produces stone glycogen , minerals an
d
vitamins.

Now the tricky part comes, I had to pretty much unwrap the whole intesti
one
They are both the long intestine and small intesting rapped up in this knot
looking ordeal. I started first by the small intestine it is kind of overwhelmi
ng
because you simply just dont know where to start, Therefore, all i did was look
for an axis and just started there. Then I had to pull the intestine away from
the
middle very carefully and cut with the scissors the thin nylon looking layer th
at
attaches the intestines. This proccess took the longest . This surprised me , bec
ause
I used to think that the small intestine and large intestine were seperate and
now
thanks to this lab I realized and learned that they are attached to eachother .
That
eventually the smaller intestine turns into the large intestine. The intestine
in my male
pig fetus measure 10.42ft long. This process of seperating the intestine took ab
out 30
minutes itself, it look so small when it was wrapped up and ended up being extre
mely
long , it almost look as if it was impossible to fit something so long in that s
mall
fetus.

I believe this was a very interesting lab because the pigs anatomy if very
similar to that of a humans, and it was a very good learning experience .Humans

and pigs are Both are placental mammals . Internally we are almost identical exc
ept
for the obvious fact that pigas are a lot smaller than us humans. The only major

diffwerence of this pig is the external anatomy. We also have different feet pos
ition
different number of toes as well as well as that pigs have tails. We dont get thi
s
chance very often .
