Text in French
As a photographer, writer and movie-maker, Raymond Depardon seems to have lived a thousand
lives. One of them took place in the United States, where he travelled over and over, all along his
career. He went to photograph, for magazines of for himself, crucial moments of history, as well
as more contemplative landscapes, characteristic of the American continent.
This publication, which gathers, for the first time, all of those photographs, accompanies the
eponymous exhibition presented at the Rencontres d’Arles from July 2 to September 23, 2018.

Japanese photographer Masahisa Fukase is among the most radical and original of his
generation, famous for The Solitude of Ravens, in which these birds of doom, in flocks or alone,
blacken the pages cover to cover of his legendary book released in 1986. He also has a lesser-
known, multifaceted corpus: formal research, superimposition, collages, self-portraits,
photographs reworked as sketches, black-and-white prints, Polaroids, and more.
This monograph brings together for the very first time all of his artistic work presented over 26
series, including the ones dedicated to his father (Memories of Father); without forgetting his
series on cats, including his own, Sasuke; and his famous self-portraits taken in a bathtub, with a
waterproof camera (‘Bukubuku’) or in pairs (‘Berobero’) touching tongues, which he later
coloured.

This book, published on the occasion the exhibition at the Centre Pompidou, presents the
complex work of the Japanese artist. Continuum explores the links between mathematics, code
and visual installation from an unpublished work exhibited in Paris, based on two spaces creating
a visual and audio immersive path. The reader, as the visitor in the exhibition, would cross these
two spaces orchastrated as an opposition : Datascape and Environnement sonore.

The first monograph devoted to landscape gardener Pascal Cribier, this book reproduces more
than 1,000 panoramic photos taken and commented on by the artist.
In the form of an alphabet book, Pascal Cribier invites us to ramble through his gardens where
nothing is left to chance: from a rooftop terrace in Paris to a lagoon in Bora Bora, from the
Tuileries to a swamp in the forest of Fontainebleau, from a British vegetable patch to an American
ranch… Several contributions by historians, scientists and gardeners accompany the itineraries of
this gardener at the forefront of ecology, concerned with the economic conditions of production
and the upkeep of his creations.
