CONTENT

a) DRUM BRAKE

Drum brakes are one of the brake construction that uses vehicle braking using brake

brakes (brake drum), brake shoes (brakeshoe), and wheel cylinders.

b) DEMOLITION STEP

 Tools needed

 Wheel lock

 Lift of the vehicle

 SST

 Steel hammer

 14 mm bolt size.

 Tang

c) DISTRIBUTION SEQUENCE

 Apas Breath the wheel

 Install the handbrake or bump on the wheel.

 Using the wheel lock 21 loosen the wheel to taste.

 Install the elevator and lift it until the wheel is free.

 Remove the wheel nut, let go of the wheel.

 Release the drum

 Remove the hub of the drum nut.


 Remove the drum by using the hammer or by using a 14 mm bolt

d) STEPS FOR EXAMINATION

a. Check the drum.

1. Check the drum surface

 Checking the surface of the drum is likely to be dirty or uneven, sandpaper so

clean if it is not flat it can be turned on the edge, do not pass the minimum value.

2. Check the diameter of the drum.

 Using a caliper run, check the diameter in the drum, the results should not be

below the minimum value.

3. Check the canvas.

 Check the possibility of dirty or uneven canvas, sandpaper until smooth and flat,

not below the minimum value.

 Measure the thickness of the resulting canvas should not be below the minimum

value.

4. Check the master rubber

 check the rubber may wear or tear, if necessary replace.


e) INSTALLATION STEP

1) Install brake components

 Install the rear brake pad and lock it tightly using pliers.

 Attach the hand brake cable using pliers and attach the canvas and lock using pliers.

 Install the reversing spring using pliers or SST.

 Install drum

 Install the drum

 Attach the hubcap to the adjusting nut.

 Installing a wheel.

 Install the wheel on the drum then attach the wheel nut.

 Tighten evenly enough using a wheel lock 21.

 Lower the elevator until the wheel drops.

 Tighten the wheel nut evenly using the moment key with a moment of 14 Kg.

 Adjust the brake shoe gap by aligning it until the wheel is locked and reduce between 2

notches.

f) TESTING / TESTING

 The pedal height is enough

 enough pedal clearance

 The distance of the backup pedal is sufficient

 the braking results are good and not deviated.
