Monday, November 5
† Psa. 84:11 For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and
glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
Lord of Grace and Glory:
You are generous by nature, so to give is your delight. Your gifts are precious
beyond measure, and grace means they are as a freely given as sunlight. So grant
salvation to __________ and __________!
You give grace to the lost because you will it. You give grace to the
redeemed because of your covenant. You give grace to the called because you
promise. You give grace to believers because they seek it. And you give grace to
sinners because they will die in an eternal hell without it!
Since you give grace abundantly, give it seasonally, and bring me into a
Thanksgiving month of harvest because of my witness. Give me comforting grace,
preserving grace, sanctifying grace, directing grace, instructing grace and assisting
grace. By your Holy Spirit you can pour this into my soul without ceasing.
Sickness may arise, but you give grace. Financial setback may come, but you
give grace. A grave may be faced, but you give grace. The tiny conjunction and in
this verse is a diamond rivet that fastens my present to the future, because grace and
glory always go together! They are married, so no one can put them asunder. You
will never deny me glory if you have bestowed on me grace.
Glory is just grace in full bloom. It is grace in a tuxedo. It is grace
exponentially squared and perfected. How soon I will gain glory I cannot tell.
Maybe before this month is out you will come, Lord Jesus!
I want to see the glory of heaven even now. I want the Spirit to give me the
glory of the Son for the sake of the Father, so more and more souls are added to
the body. O Eternal Purpose of God! Fulfill it in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.

TUESDAY—FOCUS ON CHRIST’S CROSS
Chronological Bible Reading: Matthew 27; Mark 15
Tuesday, November 6
Matt. 27:32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him
they compelled to bear his cross.
Master and Mighty Partner:
I should rejoice to bear a cross your shoulders carried before mine. If you,
my Master said, I thirst, then I cannot expect to drink every day from bottled spring
water or the pre-chilled water fountain.
No, my look at your cross prepares me for what I can endure for the sake of
God’s Eternal Purpose. I can pray and endure out of love to the King, and to
redeem more subjects for your kingdom. You were innocent, yet disrespected. So
no wonder, how every now and then I am irritated.
James 1:4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire,
wanting nothing.
There is a gnawing disease eating at my heart, but you took my sicknesses
(Matt. 8:17). Your cup was more bitter than mine. Help me gird myself to suffer
with you, without complaint. Why should I compound my sin by murmuring and
complaining? Let me resolve this Thanksgiving holiday of harvest to shun no
denials, but rather court them if they more conform me to your image.
The power to suffer for someone else, the capacity to be self-denying (even
to an extreme) in order to accomplish some great calling for God, this is a thing to
be sought after. It has to be gained before my mission is really done.
Appetite was the door to sin back in the Garden, so it is only right I should
be “put to pain” at the point of my wants and unfulfilled desires. My sinful tongue,
blistered by the fever of sin, would have burned forever had not your tongue been
tormented with thirst. Bring me a mind to be willing to suffer simply for the sake
of love to you, even if nothing else be accomplished! Amen.

Friday, November 9
2 Cor. 4:15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through
the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.
Glorious God and Maker:
Our body is tired, because are too busy with the world. Yet there is power in
praise to make heavy limbs light, to reanimate the drowsy eye, and awaken the
weary mind. Help us put ourselves in tune, like David’s harp of old. Fatigue
makes cowards of us all. Our flesh is so connected to our spirit, it often bows-
down our soul. Help us rise-up to live-out your Eternal Purpose!
Neh. 8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and
send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord:
neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
In these terrorizing times we see so many heroes, both abroad on the
battlefield and here at home. We give honor to those who are brave and
courageous, but shall not Jesus also have his due reverence? Make your triumphal
entry into our hearts this week, for we desire to give your name glory by
overflowing your praise. If no other hearts ever serve you, ours should!
Psa. 149:2 Let Israel rejoice in him that made him: let the children of Zion be joyful in
their King.
To redound is to overflow on. You are our God and must be exalted.
Depression weakens us. Doubts destroy strength. Sitting in the ashes makes us
earthy, yet we want to be heavenly! Praise is pleasant to you and profitable to us.
We grow in grace when we grow in joy. Give us joy and peace in believing!
If murmuring were a commandment, some saints would never sin. If
depression were a duty, they would surely be saved by works. Instead you tell us,
WEDNESDAY—REVIVAL PRAYING

Wednesday, November 7
1 Chron. 29:14 But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able to offer
so willingly after this sort? for all things come of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.
Giver of All Gifts:
Eternal life is found in knowing of you. Perfect liberty is found in serving
you. So defend me today against all assaults of the enemy. As I trust in your defense
let me not give way to fear, nor any power of the adversary. Do it through the merit
and might of Jesus Christ and his finished work. You safely brought me to the
“hump” in this week. Defend me in the rest of it by the Spirit’s mighty power.
§ Lord, lead me not into temptation
§ Lord, deliver me and my family from danger and evil
§ Lord, order all my activities by your providence
§ Lord, mold my desires according to your will
§ Lord, grant today I will do what is right in your sight
Do it through Jesus Christ the Lord. Then Lord, I must remember others. I
must remember my pastor. I must remember those we have sent out. I must
remember the ministers, ministries and missionaries of our church! I must ask for
revival for them, even if I am ignorant of their exact circumstances.
I know how you deal with me, Lord. You are working in their lives the same
way. Give us all revival. Lead us alike—the family at home and the family abroad—
in a similar experience and time of refreshing from you. I pray it for all the churches
we have as sisters, both here and abroad. Enlarge our coasts!
But Lord, it has to start with me. Rain down your Spirit in a new experience
and perspective of your presence. I look to you for life-direction this week.
Lord, we need you! Humbly we depend on you. We are confidently desperate
for you. Answer us for your Son’s sake, because it is in his name I pray. Amen.
SATURDAY—IN THE PSALMS

Saturday, November 10
Psa. 6:9 The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer.
LORD:
If I have times of weeping, let me shorten them. Then let me arise, and put
distance between the “evil man” and me. It is not enough to complain about the
desecration of the temple of my heart, and my need for revival; I have to drive-out
the buyers and sellers, and overturn their tables. Help me hate, even more than I
do, the sins that cost my Savior his blood.
There is a voice to my weeping. Weeping is the eloquence of my sorrow over
sin. Tears are an unstammering orator, needing no interpreter. Tears are my
liquid prayer. I can weep when I cannot plead, for the LORD hath heard the voice
of my weeping (Psa. 6:8).
Psa. 7:1 O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that
persecute me, and deliver me:
What a blessing Lord, you allow me to turn even the most traumatic events
of my life into the theme for a song of praise. Whatever my problems, it is always
right to reaffirm my reliance on you. It is never right to distrust you, and never
vain to rest on you.
No amount of innocence can shield me from slander, but let me decrease the
market for lies. Help me put out so much of the truth, there is no one left to believe
lies. I ask you for strength. I plead for your grace.
I understand my need for revival, Lord. Bring it not for my sake, but for the
sake of your Son, who died for all those who will be affected by revival in my life.
Let me lead some soul to the Savior before the end of this year (even over the
Holidays)! Let me stand strong to defend the faith. Give me greater appreciation
for my brethren. In Jesus’ name and power do this. Amen and amen.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because
they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are
no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the
same things over and over.
This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you
might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God.
We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the
Bible chronologically in a year.
Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then
you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in
the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard
for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying.

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the
strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus
Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had
prayed.
“Oh,” says one, “I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times
and seasons for prayer.” And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of
prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the
injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore
there must not be some season for more immediately coming into God’s presence. If
you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus
Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather
than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and
exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be
deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only
spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayer—the posture, the
time, place—rather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition.
God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son.
