Hey there, my friend – I’m David Sharpe.

I’m the CEO and Founder of Legendary Marketer

I got to where I am today because I put myself in


position to ride the wave of the future.

The internet has changed everything.

It’s the backbone of our worldwide economy.

It’s also the future of our economy, because pretty


soon, no business will be able to survive without
being online.

Back in the day, the poor used to be the illiterate


people who couldn’t read and write, and often
times, if you wanted to oppress people, you would

stop them from reading and prevent them from
gaining knowledge.

In today’s day, that holds true – but it’s evolved: the


new poor will be the computer and online illiterate.

Let me say that again because it’s that important…

The new poor will be the computer and online


illiterate.

I want you to think about 2-to-5 years from now…

Think about just today, the people who don't


understand social media... who don’t understand
that businesses NEED to have an online presence...
people who simply don't understand how the
Internet works...

These people are not getting hired — they're the


ones getting FIRED!

They're the people who aren’t able to get jobs or


earn a good living, because without tech skills and
an understanding of the Internet, you’ve got little-
to-no value to offer to the marketplace.

You need to be proficient on what’s going on with
digital media or you’re going to get left behind.

No business in the future is going to survive


without an online presence.

Even plumbers, contractors, painters, and people


who have brick-and-mortar businesses are going to
fail if they’re not taking part in the conversation
that’s happening online…

...and that’s because people Google EVERYTHING


now.

We don’t call up our friends and ask for their help in


shopping. People use Google to find who they
should do business with, and then they read
reviews and make a decision based on social proof.

They browse social media and watch videos...and


see ads...and click….and boom….they’re suddenly
on someone’s website getting out their credit card
making a purchase...all from the comfort of their
home.

All of that happens online!

More good news for you and me: the beautiful thing
about starting an internet marketing business is
that there is no degree required. You don't have to
have any credentials. No experience is needed.

The playing field has been leveled.

The Internet has disrupted almost every industry


and everyone's ability to be able to work within
that industry, because nowadays you don’t need to
go to a classroom to become an expert on
something.

You can acquire ALL the knowledge and expertise


you need to become successful, right from your
own home.

The barrier to entry has dropped.

That's why so many of the best programmers, for


example, started out as kids playing around on their
computers after they got out of school. They
learned everything they know from doing it on the
internet, not from learning in the classroom.

And the financial upside to actually being good at


digital marketing is endless…

Gone are the days where your only option was the
great scam of being sold on a $40,000-to-$100,000
college degree before you even have a clue about
what you want out of a career. And before your
brain is even fully developed and able to make that
kind of important decision.

Look, nearly a decade of university education and


internship may be necessary for a doctor who will
be operating on people’s bodies or brains, but
that’s not what most people want to do! The
“everyone needs to go to college” scam is being
exposed big-time.

Student loan debt today is the largest segment of


debt in America. Our student loan debt is more than
our credit card debt, and it’s the ONLY debt that
can’t be forgiven in bankruptcy.

Think about that for a second… the system that


says it wants to help you is setup to keep you in
debt for your entire life.

We learn from an early age that the “right” thing to


do is to go to college, get a good education and
hope that you can land a decent job so you can pay
your student loans and monthly bills.

Then you trade the best years of your life in
exchange for the promise that you’ll have enough
time and money to enjoy yourself and actually live
your life when you’re “older”.

The problem with that is, for most people, it’s not
working. Those golden years never come.

People get to retirement and realize they don’t


have enough money to last them the rest of their
life, despite sacrificing the best working years for a
pot of gold at the end of the rainbow ...that was
never there in the first place!

Research statistics show that a large percentage of


our retirees only have $3,000-to-$12,000 dollars to
their name... and the majority of people in America
don't even have a thousand dollars in their bank
account, which is why more and more students are
dropping out of college.

They’re following in the footsteps of people like


Mark Zuckerberg, who dropped out of Harvard to
focus on Facebook full time….

Bill Gates, who dropped out of Harvard to focus on


Microsoft…

Oprah Winfrey, who left Tennessee State University
to pursue a career in broadcast media…

Michael Dell, who started Dell computers from his


University of Texas dorm room and dropped out to
focus on his business…

What about Steve Jobs? Ever heard of him? The


founder of Apple, who dropped out of Reed College
after a semester and went on to build one of the
most successful companies of all time.

The graduation rate today for first-time, full-time


students who are seeking a two-year degree is
roughly 29 percent.

That’s crazy.. but why are all of these people


dropping out?

That’s the question... Why?

What’s really going on in the market?

Is the opportunity really that big? Is there really


enough for everybody?

These millions and billions of dollars we hear about


being made -- how does that actually translate into

the actual statistics of people taking action on the
Internet?

Well, consider these are mind boggling statistics for


a second.

In 2017: Every single minute…

Over 3.5 million people search for something on


Google.

Over 900,000 people log into Facebook.

Over 4.1 Million videos are watched on YouTube.

Over 350,000 messages are sent on Twitter.

Over 150 Million e-mails are sent.

Over 40,000 hours of music is listened to on


Spotify.

Over 70,000 hours of video is watched on Netflix.

...and last but not least, over $2.5 MILLION dollars is


spent online.

This is all happening every … single … MINUTE!

So, with all of this opportunity, with our entire
global economy transitioning to the Internet and
more and more businesses struggling to stay afloat
or shutting down altogether, you have companies
like Amazon who are selling more products and
services online than all the major retailers
combined.

They’re absolutely soaring. They’re growing faster


than any other company in the world.

In June 2017, Amazon acquired Whole Foods for


$13.7 BILLION!

An online store swallowed up a brick-and-mortar


business…and that’s just the beginning.

Mark my words, the way we shop, buy – our entire


economy will look totally different in 3-to-5 years!

The BIG question is will you be ahead of that


curve? Profiting. Prospering?

Or will be left behind? Suffering. Suffocating?

Most people are one health catastrophe away – like


back surgery or cancer – from complete financial
ruin.

Even a broken bone that puts you out of work could
mean weeks, maybe months without a paycheck.

And for people who live paycheck-to-paycheck that


means financial devastation. It means falling
behind so far it might be years, even decades
before you catch up.

Worse, it means stress. Sleepless nights. Constant


worry about money.

And people say money doesn’t buy happiness.

Chapter 2: The Secret To
Avoiding Failure
Why do people fail?

That’s the big question.

And is it possible to prevent failure altogether?

The short answer is “no.”

But we can solve it and help avoid BIG-TIME failure,


by following the simple tips I outline in this
chapter.

(Trust me, a sure-fire way to avoid costly mistakes


that eat up your time and money is to learn from
someone who’s already been there & done that).

So let’s start with first things first…

Why is it that people fail when they try to start a


business online?

I mean, why do people fail when they can start a


business from home with no overhead, with little-
to-no startup costs, and for a fraction of the price

that it would cost to start a franchise or a traditional
business?

We now have the ability to start a business with


nothing but a laptop or a cellphone! We’re able to
work from anywhere in the world and have an
unlimited amount of earning potential!

So seriously - why are so many people failing?

It's very simple. It's the same exact reason why


people fail at anything they do.

Most people buy stuff, sign up for things and say


they’re going to do it -- and never take any action.

They buy books like this, but don't finish them.  

They feel proud of themselves for buying the book,


and owning the book, but here’s the truth…

Chapter 3: The “Big 3”
Things You Must Do
So, what’s the #1 secret that every successful
online marketer uses, and how can you use it to
earn immediately while you learn overtime?

I’ll tell you in in the next few pages – but in case


you were wondering if I’m going to give you a
bunch of overwhelming information and then send
you off to figure it out on your own, let me tell why
we’re different here at Legendary Marketer.

Because we do 2 things really well. World class,


really.

FIRST – We teach people how to become better


business owners and grow their profits by using the
most cutting-edge online marketing strategies
available today.

SECOND – We allow members to earn while they


learn by licensing our products, along with our
digital marketing system which includes sales
funnels, ads, email software, support team and

this all on your own.

There's going to be constant struggle and failure,


simply because you're going to be missing this one,
critical piece of information.

Let's jump in head first – ready?

Ok, so the first secret you need to know is why high-
ticket businesses are better than low-ticket
businesses.

Look, most businesses fail – both online and offline


– because they don't have enough revenue to make
up for their advertising costs.

They can't advertise, because they don't have


enough money to make up their advertising costs
and then still turn a profit.

The returns aren’t greater than the investments.

So if they go and advertise, they're instantly in so


much debt that it's hard for them to get out and
move forward.

Let me give you some basic examples of some


earnings that would that would make up $5,000.

If you wanted to earn $5,000 in an online business


and you were selling a product for $20, you would
have to sell 250 of those products to equal $5,000.

If you were selling a product for $100, you would


have to sell 50 of those products to equal $5,000.

If you were selling a product for $250, you would
have to sell 20 of those products.

If you were selling a product for $500, you would


have to sell 10 of those products.

If you were selling a product for $1,000, you would


only have to sell 5, and if you're selling a product
for $5,000 you would obviously just have to sell
one.

And the reason why it’s so important to illustrate


this is because there are many different ways you
can reach the same revenue target.

There are many different ways you could make


$5,000.

There are many different ways you could make


$10,000.

There are many different ways you could make a


million dollars.

What’s important is that you develop a business


plan that’s going to help you get there. So not only
do you know how much you want to make each
year, but you know how much you need to make

each month. How much you need to make each
week ...down to how much you need to make each
day to hit your goal.

The challenge is: If you don't have a product line


that’s going to give you a large income boost and is
able to bring in those large profits, then you're
going to be working really hard to bring in tons of
customers to make the same amount of money you
could with just a few customers buying high-priced
products.

And that’s ultimately the difference between low-


ticket product marketing and high-ticket, or top-tier
product marketing.

Typically, most businesses sell tiny-priced products


to lots of different people and they cling to the
hope that they're going to be able to hit their
income goals by selling these low-priced products
to hundreds of thousands, or millions of people.

But the truth is, unfortunately, without having a


top-tier, high-ticket product offering inside your
business, it's going to take a long time.

And oftentimes, it's going to be unrealistic or
downright impossible for you to achieve your
income goals.

You see this in all kinds of different businesses


across multiple different industries – not just online
marketing...

Take gym memberships for example.

In order for a gym to be successful, usually they're


selling a $10- or $20-per month membership. If
they want to make $100,000 in a month, they have
to sell a lot of memberships.

Think about it, if you have a $20 monthly


membership, you’d need 5,000 customers who are
paying you $20 a month to earn $100,000 dollars
in revenue.

If you want to actually have $100,000 take home,


that’s a whole other story. Because out of that
$100,000 in revenue, most of it will go towards
your expenses. Things like your rent, your
equipment costs, your wages, your marketing and
everything else it takes to run the business.

Expenses add up quickly in this model…

And that’s one of the many benefits to having an
online business versus a brick-and-mortar business.
You have virtually no overhead costs, no
employees, and you don’t even have to create the
products.

And if you choose to license our products, you don’t


need to have an office, because all you need is a
computer or a cell phone – both of which you
probably already have right now.

Plus, you won’t have to shell out the huge startup


fees you would normally have to with something
like a gym or a franchise.

That’s why it's really important that you understand


the difference between lower-ticket products and
high-ticket products – and how having a higher-
priced product somewhere in your catalog offering
is a must to make up ad costs and turn big profits.

The other beautiful thing about high-ticket


products is that you're going to attract a much
better quality customer.
If you just have low-tier products, you're going to
attract people who are going to be looking to get
something for nothing. Penny pinchers.

Whereas when you have a more premium-priced
product offering, you're going to attract a more
premium, high-value customer.

Someone who is actually going to take action and


implement what you recommend, be a lot more
pleasant and more sophisticated in their knowledge
and their expectations of you.

Someone who gets it – and will make it a lot more


enjoyable for you to actually run that business.

It’s like the difference between a Kia dealership


and a Rolls-Royce dealership.

At the Kia Dealership, you’re bound to see a lot


more hagglers, refunders and people just looking to
squeeze every penny out of you. Versus somebody
who walks into a Rolls-Royce dealership, has money
and they know what they're looking for – and aren’t
afraid to pay for it.

Ultimately, it's nice to have a combination to have


both. You have the large quantities of low-ticket
customers, complimented by those awesome high-
ticket customers... because not only are these high-
ticket customers going to help you reach your

income goals a lot faster, but they're also going to
be a lot more pleasant to deal with.

They're going to continue to spend money over and


over and over again within your business and it's
just going to be a lot more fun for you.

Now that we have that out of the way, let's talk


about the three things that you need to succeed
online.

(Trust me – there are really only three things when


you boil it down to the bare essentials, even though
there’s a million “gurus” who over complicate the
hell out of this proven process.)

The first thing that you need is you need quality


traffic.

Now, you might be asking “what is traffic?”

Well, traffic is just eyeballs. It's human beings. It's


people walking through your virtual doors, clicking
on your ads and coming to your website. People
who are looking at your products and watching your
sales videos. It's the same as a brick-and-mortar
store – they need people coming in the door.

And you won’t succeed in any business if you don't
have people that are walking through that door or
calling you on the phone, coming in and expressing
interest in what you offer.

It's the same online – if nobody ever visits your site,


then you don't have a business. Make sense?

The cool thing is there's no shortage of traffic.

Remember the statistics I gave you earlier about


what’s happening online right now? How many
people are spending so much of their time online
every day?

I mean every single minute, 900,000 people are


logging into Facebook.

$3.5 million people are searching something on


Google.

There is no shortage of traffic.

You just need to know how to get it.

There are free traffic strategies and paid traffic


strategies.

If you have more time than money, you're going to
want to be looking at the free traffic strategies.
Things like blogging, video marketing, article
marketing, and social media marketing.

And on the flip side, there's paid marketing, which


is very simply going to Facebook or Google and
buying advertising.

It's actually called PPC – pay per click advertising.

What that means is that you pay to have your ads


shown to people who are interested in what you’re
selling, and you pay each time someone clicks on
your ad and visits your site.

It’s all based on very simple strategies, which we


teach inside of Legendary Marketer, but it’s
imperative that you understand these high-level
concepts first so you’re not just aimlessly spending
time or money.

The second thing you need is a high converting


sales funnel.

When I say that, most people ask “What’s a sales


funnel?”

Which brings us to one of the biggest
misunderstandings of the internet – which is that to
sell anything online, you just need a website.

Look, people spend thousands of dollars on having


a website designed. They have all these pages
filled out… Like their About page, Mission
Statement, product pages, information about the
Founders, and everything else about their company.

If anybody actually finds their website, and that’s a


big IF, they usually surf around for a little bit, then
eventually leave to go buy somewhere else… and
they usually never come back.

That’s why if you want to succeed online, you need


to have a great, high-converting sales funnel.

One of the key parts of any great sales funnel is


having a way to capture people's information.

This is usually done through a landing page or a


squeeze page. Basically, you drive your traffic to
that page, and people can express interest in your
offers by providing their contact information and
giving you the ability to follow up with them via
email.

Sales statistics from research companies show that
that 80 percent of sales are made between the 5th
and the 12th contact, so it's very important that
your sales funnel has the ability to collect your
visitor's information so you can follow up with
them, even after they leave your site.

Now, the second thing that your sales funnel needs


to have is a great sales video and a great front-end
offer.

You most likely saw that when you came through


and got involved with our company. Even if it was
just having this book sent to you.

You most likely watched a great sales video (that


promoted a low-cost) and front-end offer that
wasn’t too much to ask of you – it was just enough
to pique your interest and get you to commit. It’s
like an appetizer.

It's just like when you go to McDonald's.


McDonald's has a great sales funnel. They bring
people in with the dollar value menu because they
know when somebody comes in for a dollar
cheeseburger or a dollar french fries or dollar soda
or coffee, that they're most likely going to order
something else.

They're going to order a bigger burger with their
fries or they're going to go ahead and get a full
meal.

Then they're going to supersize that meal and


they're going to come back after they finish and buy
a milkshake or a Sundae (humans are so
predictable, aren’t they?!)

Apple has a great sales funnel, too.

They start people out by advertising their iPhone,


right? That's why the iPhone is owned by billions of
people around the world.

Maybe someone might start off with an iPad and


they like it so much that eventually buy a MacBook.
Then eventually they go back and buy a iMac.

Then pretty soon they look around and they have


five different Apple products sitting around
because over the months or years they got the
lower-ticket product just to try it out. Then they
liked it and eventually went back and spent more
and more money inside of Apple's sales funnel.

The exact same thing happens in a great online
marketing businesses.

All successful internet marketing businesses have


great sales funnels.. They start their leads and
prospects off with a low-price, high-value offer, and
then they make some upsell offers.

The point is that on the backend – after that initial


purchase – there are some additional, higher-ticket
items that people can buy.

So that's the second thing that you need to succeed


online.

The third thing is you need is a great value ladder


selling multiple products at different price points.
I already alluded to this when I was talking about
the sales funnel, but it’s critical that you have back-
end offers with your business.

Just like Apple has back-end offers with their iMac.

Because they’re smart – they’re not trying to make


all of their money on the iPhone. Their iPhone is
what’s called a loss leader. Something can simply
recoup their cost-of-acquisition, which is the cost

they have to pay to acquire their customers in the
first place through advertising.

That’s why they’re not banking on making all of


their profit off of the iPhone, because they have the
laptops, tablets, and the souped-up desktops – they
have all of these other products (and not to
mention all their accessories).

They have their earphones, keyboards, music on


iTunes – all kinds of different offers and ways for
people to spend money inside of their sales funnel.

They have not only a great value ladder, where they


sell both low-price and high-priced products, but
they also have an integrated product suite where all
of their products fit seamlessly together, depending
on how committed or interested somebody is in
their products or services.

It's integrated – meaning that the iPhone works in


connection with the laptop, which works in
connection with the iMac, which works in
connection with iTunes.

So it's even more powerful if your value ladder also


integrates with each other to really have a

completely integrated product suite where all of
your products complement each other.

Now, I understand you’re not Apple. It’s taken them


decades to build this behemoth of a profit system.

But you do have the ability to easily and quickly


create assets online that will replicate this model.

The beautiful thing about having an online business


– especially if you get the traffic generation down to
a science, you have a great sales funnel and you
have a great value ladder…

….is that all of this creates passive income.

Which means income comes in whether you’re


sitting in front of your computer working or not!

When you can place ads and drive traffic into your
sales funnel, it can run hands-free 24/7/365.

If all of this is set up properly, then your only focus


is one thing:

Driving traffic into the front end of your sales


funnel.

The rest can be automated, particularly because
your online business is set up to sell digital
products, which you can create the assets one time
and sell over and over again (without having to buy
more inventory), which I'm going to talk about in
the next chapter.

I'm going to show you how to pick the absolute best


products to sell online so you can create your own

At that point, your only job becomes going out to


acquire advertising so you can drive traffic to the
front-end of your sales funnel.

Chapter 4: The Perfect
Digital Business Model
Now we’re going to outline the perfect online
business model, which is designed to create
maximum profit with minimum overhead and as
much automation as possible.

Now, before you can succeed online, you need to


first choose your business model. What that means
is, you need to know exactly what’s required to sell
and deliver your products & services.

After that, you need to pick the right niche, because


starting a business in the wrong niche can doom
you to failure from the beginning. It’d be like trying
to sell snow shovels to people who live in Florida -
not a good business model!

Beyond those two high-level questions you need to


answer before you can launch your business, there
are three ingredients that make up the perfect
online business model.

These three ingredients are going to make or break


your business. Plain and simple.

The first ingredient is your product - what’s it going
to be?

The second ingredient is your sales and marketing -


how are you going to market and sell your products?

The third ingredient is your system - what technical


platform are you going to use to not only sell, but
also to deliver your product or services, and
essentially conduct all of your business on?

Now, let’s discuss these three ingredients in detail.

We’ll start first with your product. Here are some


questions you’ll want to ask yourself to figure out
what product is the best fit for YOU to sell online...

First, are you going to do physical products? Things


like laptops, phones, teddy bears, t-shirts, phone
cases, etc.

Or are you going to do digital products? Things like


eBooks, audio courses, video courses, apps, games,
etc.

One of the upsides to digital products is that once


they’re created they can be consumed over and
over again. This is one of the ways that you can free

yourself from that direct exchange of time for
money, because you invest the time to create the
product once, and then you can continue to sell that
product over and over again.

As I go through these questions, I’ll be dropping


some hints as to what my preferences are, but I still
want to give you an unbiased look at this so you can
understand how it works.

The next question to ask yourself is: Are you going


to sell a product or a service?

With a product-based business, whether the


products are physical or digital, you’re really only
focusing on creating and delivering those products.

Whereas with a service-based business, you’re


typically charging one-time and then delivering
those services manually, whether it’s jumping on a
webinar, doing consulting, coaching, or anything
else like that. Or, like a plumber does, you get paid
when you come out to someone’s house and fix
their leaks. Or an accountant, who only gets paid
when they file someone’s taxes. Those are great
examples of traditional service businesses.

Next question to ask yourself is how is your
product created?

Obviously with physical products, you’re looking at


manufacturing costs, overhead costs, inventory, and
so forth. So what does the process look like for
that?

This also comes back to the importance of picking


the right platform, because you’re going to need
your manufacturing and shipping and fulfillment
and everything else integrated right into your
technical platform.

Now, what about requirements for digital products?

You’re going to have to create that product from


scratch, whether it’s written, or audio, or video.
You’ll probably need to use software and cameras.
You may also have to go into a studio to create the
right conditions for a proper recording, so you are
looking at some hard costs there.

When you think about digital products, typically,


they’re a bundle of information that teaches
someone about something. Usually this is based on
your expertise –  something you’re a subject matter
expert in.

But you can’t just package it any way you like. It has
to be put together in a way that makes sense, that’s
engaging, and that actually addresses the burning
questions your customer is trying to get answered.

Now let’s move onto the second ingredient of our


perfect online business model, which is sales and
marketing.

So first up, how is your product going to be sold? If


it’s a physical product, are you going to sell it
through your website, or will you market it on
Facebook and then sell it through Shopify? Are you
also going to list your products in places like eBay
and Amazon?

If it’s a digital product, are you going to market it


through Facebook, or Google, or through Solo Ads?

Do you have the technical expertise to create the


ads and video sales letters you’ll need to sell your
product? How about the sales funnel? Are you able
to build it yourself? Can you write the sales copy
yourself?
If a sale requires a phone call, are you able to do
that yourself? Or do you need to hire someone to
do that for you?

Do you have the skills to manage your own sales
and marketing in the first place? Or do you need to
outsource that entirely?

These are things that are going to affect your bottom


line in a big way.

Also, is your sales and marketing strategy easy to


track? Is it scalable?

Think about an ad on a billboard with your contact


info on it. People drive by, they see the billboard,
and they decide to call you. But how can you track
that? How do you know who saw the billboard
versus the ad you put in the paper? How can you
figure out which one is generating a higher return
on investment?

That’s the beauty of marketing online and why so


many people are able to grow and scale their
businesses so effectively. Because there are all
kinds of different tracking services available to you,
which allow you figure out exactly what return
you’re getting from different marketing channels
like Facebook or Google. You can create tracking IDs
and unique links for different pages, emails, ads,

etc., so that you can track that lead all the way
through to your website.

This is one of the many great aspects of having an


online business.

And here’s the thing...

In my experience, anything that isn’t tracked, can’t


be truly grown simply because you can’t be certain
that investing your precious time and energy into
that marketing effort is going to be profitable. And
if it’s not profitable, well, that means you’re losing
money.

Compare that to an advertising campaign that I run


on Facebook that I know for a fact is returning two
dollars for every dollar I spend. I’m going to be
much more confident to invest in and scale up that
campaign because I know it’s going to be profitable,
versus something like a billboard or an ad in the
newspaper.

Staying on top of these things is what will make you


an effective business owner. You have to constantly
monitor the performance of your different
marketing channels and focus your time and energy
into areas that you know are going to be profitable.

Now, let’s move on to ingredient number three –
 your system and your technical platform.

Remember when we were talking about franchises


of businesses like McDonald’s, Burger King, Taco
Bell, 7-Eleven? Well, the reason they’re so
successful is because they’re selling the system.

So what about the business you want to start? Does


it have a system in place? Does it have a step-by-
step process to follow that will guarantee leads and
sales and can be easily repeated over and over
again?

Or are you going to have to create that system from


scratch? Are you going to have to invest time and
money into figuring things out, failing at it a few
times and testing different ways of doing things to
create that system?

Because, at the end of the day, your business MUST


have a system.

Something you can RINSE and REPEAT. Because


that’s the only way you can really scale your
business.

You don’t want to be a jack of all trades, but a
master of none. You want to be a master of ONE, so
you can focus on tweaking, testing, and improving
your specific system and eventually scale that
system.

Moving on to the technical platform, which one are


you going to choose?

Are you going to build a WordPress site? Or maybe


you want to use a membership platform like
ClickFunnels or Kajabi, or LeadPages, or Weebly.
There are so many different technical platforms out
there for you to choose from to host your content
and manage your contacts.

You can even custom code one if you want. A lot of


our platforms are custom coded and custom
designed to provide some of the specialized
functions that we wanted.

But if you are going to custom code it, are you going
to need designers, or front end developers, or back
end developers? Are you going to need a project
manager? Does everyone on your team have the
skills you need to get the job done?

Another question to ask yourself is what’s the setup
time? How long is it actually going to take before
you can finally launch your product?

At the end of the day, you can have the greatest


business plan in the world, but if it’s going to take
you 1 or 2 years to get off the ground, chances are
you’re going to spin yourself off into oblivion,
overspend or just get frustrated and burn out and
eventually give up on the project altogether.

To wrap up our discussion on the platform here, the


last question to ask is: what are your platform’s
maintenance costs? Things like web and video
hosting costs will go up as your site grows and you
start to get more traffic. With the major video
hosting platforms like Vimeo and Wistia, you’re
going to pay-per-megabyte that you stream. I can
tell you that our streaming costs are pretty
significant each month.

So all these questions surrounding those three


ingredients - these are the things you need to figure
out. These are the things you need to answer before
you decide to make a move in any direction when it
comes to your online business.

Now, you may be asking, “Dave, what business
model do you prefer and use?”

And I’m glad you asked :)

….because I think my experience can help you avoid


some major pitfalls and fast track your success.

For me, I can tell you that my business model of


choice is an online business built on selling digital
products. The reason why is simple - digital
products have no manufacturing costs, no shipping
costs, they’re free to deliver, and we can create
them once and then sell them over and over and
over again.

We don’t have to touch anything. There’s nothing to


handle. There’s no inventory to store.

And the real beauty of this business model is that


this is the way people are looking to consume
information nowadays. They aren’t looking to buy
some course via a physical box shipped to their
door with VHS tapes or DVDs. They want to be able
to consume their information online, from
anywhere, on any device, including mobile.

So selling digital products becomes very
advantageous from a business perspective and also
aligns perfectly with what students and consumers
today are looking for.

Audio content has shifted from tapes and CD’s to


podcasts and digital downloads of MP3 files.

Written content has shifted from textbooks to


ebooks and PDFs. It really represents the perfect
opportunity for entrepreneurs who are looking for a
simple, seamless and scalable business model
where you can start with minimal investment and
scale it very, very quickly.

Now, as we talked about in one of the previous


chapters it’s critical that you have your value ladder
and your integrated product suite implemented
correctly. Remember that your value ladder is your
ascension path from low-ticket products to high-
ticket products. Apple is an amazing example of a
great value ladder AND an integrated product suite.

But there is one major obstacle to modeling Apple –


their hard costs. Their manufacturing costs, their
overhead costs and their physical locations. They
have the money for this and had the startup capital
to launch. You might not.

You have to think about your own business
realistically and understand that for most of us
getting something like that started is extremely
unrealistic.

You may be able to open one location in a particular


city or state, but nowadays, you want to be able to
launch globally right out of the gate and serve
customers all over the world.

The idea of being tied to a physical location to do


business is an antiquated one, and one that makes
me sick just thinking about it. It’s dying out.

The evidence is there for everyone to see - and


there are plenty of examples I can provide that
illustrate this trend.

In the beginning of 2017, there were 150


GameStop stores closing.

250 Abercrombie and Fitch stores closing.

190 J.C Penney and Sears stores that are closing.


450 Payless stores that are closing.

66 Macy’s stores that are closing.

171 Wet Seal’s that are closing.

That’s just the start.

Think about some of the companies that are


dominating the global market these days. Uber is
the largest transportation provider in the U.S, but
they don’t own a single car, bus or train.

AirBNB is the single largest hotel company in the


world, but they don’t own a single hotel.

Amazon just passed Wal-Mart as the nation’s


biggest retailer, and yet they own zero store fronts.

The illiterate of the 21st century won’t be the


people who can’t read and write, it will be the
people who don’t understand how to do business
online. And the “new illiterate” people will slowly
but surely be eliminated from the economy and the
marketplace.

THAT, my friend, will be a scary place to be in.

So I want you to imagine for a second... what if you


could model all the best of Apple’s business model,

but without all the hard costs and overhead
associated with selling physical products?

Because that’s really what digital marketing and


selling information products is all about. It’s the
way of the future. Digital publishing, which is the
creation of content and products – content just like
the content you’re consuming right now through
this book. Content that I created for you to
purchase and consume and learn from.

Content that is both sold online and then shipped


out, or content and products that are sold online
and also delivered online, too. THAT’S the future.
THAT’S where the money is.

The Internet has opened up an unlimited amount of


new business opportunities. Startups are launching
all over the world every single day.

It seems like there are tons of people who’ve gone


from messing around in their garage to building a
million or even billion dollar business empire. But
they aren’t the only people making lots of money
online.

Thousands of people from all over the world can


now make a full-time living by packaging

information and selling it online. It’s what’s known
as a digital publishing business.

These are businesses that package information and


sell it to customers who are interested in learning
about a specific topic, or, looking to solving a
specific problem.

It’s a very successful business model, but it used to


be a lot harder to start than it is today.

To start a traditional publishing business years ago


you had to invest a ton of money up front. You had
to invest in infrastructure and create CDs and tapes
and books. Then you had to store your products in a
warehouse until you could ship them out to your
customers.

And you couldn’t actually turn a profit after you


sold thousands of these products, because there’s a
hard cost and massive overhead for every product
you sold. And in spite of that, without any
automation or real systems that could be leveraged,
people still made millions of dollars running
businesses just like that.

But the internet has now made it infinitely easier to


do all of that with absolutely unlimited earning

potential. You can create high quality recordings of
audio and video content for pennies on the dollar.
All you need is a computer and some free (or
inexpensive) software and you’re all set.

You create the products one time, and then you sell
them over and over again. They’re hosted online in
a downloadable format or member’s area.

You don’t need to dump a ton of money into


magazine or newspaper ads, because instead, you
can spend a small amount of money on highly
targeted ads on Facebook or Google, and can know
for certain that your campaign is profitable before
attempting to scale it up by using simple tracking
features.

You can even build an audience without spending


any money if you don’t want to. You can do that
through social media, and blogs, and forums.

All in all, digital publishing businesses are


inexpensive to get off the ground, easy to scale and
they’re growing at a massive rate. It’s a fantastic
business to get into right now.

Let’s get into the next important question you have


to ask yourself:

What niche would you like to be in?

By this, I mean, what kind of information are you


going to sell and who’s your audience?

Some niches are actually segments of the market in


which your digital product will be more likely to
succeed. So if you pick one of these niches, you’ll
have a much greater shot at success than with
others.

That’s my goal here – to give you a shortcut and a


way for you to grow your business quickly and easily.

So, when talking about picking the right niche,


there are three questions you need to answer to
determine whether it’s a good niche or not.

The first question is: Are customers in this niche


known to buy?

Second question is: Can you market your business


online in this niche in a profitable way?

The third question is: Do you actually like this


niche? Because obviously it’s much more enjoyable

to be in a niche you enjoy talking about and
working in.

Here’s one of the biggest mistakes people make


when it comes to choosing a niche:

They pick a noncompetitive niche because they


think that, since nobody is there, it’s an untapped
gold mine and it will be much easier to sell in that
niche.

I’ll tell you right now – that’s a myth. There are no


new ideas. Countless people before you, even in
the relatively short time since the internet was first
created, have experimented with different things
and have figured out what works and what doesn’t.

This comes back to a point I’ve made several times


already so far, which is that you don’t need to
reinvent the wheel. Trying to do that will most
likely end up in failure.

That’s why the single smartest thing you could do is


to look at the most competitive niches out there,
and go in and find a way to do what people are
already doing, but better.

That’s the shortcut. That’s how you avoid one of the
biggest pitfalls that most people getting started
end-up getting trapped in.

Now, here are the top 3 niches that are going to be


most profitable, with the biggest customer base,
and will guarantee the greatest success online.

Number one: weight loss, health and wellness.

Number two: relationship and dating.

Number three: make money and investing.

But before you pick a niche, consider this little


nugget of pure gold…

Jay Abraham, who is a very well-known and


respected marketing strategist explains that there
are really only 3 ways to make money in your
business:

First, you can get more customers.

Second, you can increase the average transaction of


each customer, which means you’re getting each
customer to spend more every time they do
business with you.

Third, you can increase the frequency at which your
customers buy from you. So basically you’re getting
each customer to buy more and more often.

These are the only 3 ways you can really grow your
business. So when you’re looking at each one of
these niches, you have to ask these three
questions…

1. “Am I going to be able to get more


customers?” 


2. “Am I going to be able to increase the


average transaction value and get customers
to spend more?” 


3. “Am I going to be able to get each one of


those customers to buy more often?”


Let’s look at weight loss/health and wellness first.

Can I increase the number of customers I have?

That’s a hardcore yes, because there are a ton of


people out there looking to lose weight, gain
muscle mass, lose fat or become healthier.

Can I increase the average transaction value by
selling higher-ticket products?

I would say that’s up for debate. Some people are


willing to spend more, but most aren’t.

You can see that with gym memberships, there is a


race to the bottom in terms of who can ofter the
cheapest membership.

So at the end of the day, I would say no – people are


not really willing to increase the average
transaction value. As a side note, competing on
price as your main reason for someone to buy from
you is never fun. It’s exhausting and an easy way to
go out of business very quickly.

Now, can I get each one of those customers to buy


more often?

Yes, because people do need to eat healthy to take


care of themselves and lose weight, so they have to
continually buy things like a gym membership,
organic food, and anything else that you can sell
them that will help them reach that goal.

So I’d give the health and wellness niche 2 out of 5


stars in terms of ability to grow and scale quickly.

How about the relationship and dating niche?

Are we able to increase the number of customers?

Yes, because people are always looking for help


with getting into a relationship.

Are we able to increase the average transaction?

In this case, I think it’s similar to weight loss.

People are only going to be willing to spend so


much on relationships and dating. Maybe people
are willing to spend up to $100, or even a couple
hundred dollars. But if you look at a lot of these
dating sites like E-Harmony or match.com, they’re
either free or inexpensive to use. The business
model is built on millions of people paying small
fees every month.

Can you increase the frequency and get customers to


buy more often?

I would say yes, until they meet somebody. Because


then they’re not going to be willing to continue
paying you.

So we’ve got a yes to number one, and a no to
number two and three. I’d give the relationship and
dating niche a 2 out of 5 stars in terms of ability to
grow and scale very quickly, or at all.

Now, lastly, let’s look at the make money and


investment niche.

Are we going to be able to increase the number of


customers?

Yes. Everybody is always looking to make more


money, and grow their money.

Are we going to be able to increase the average


transaction? In my experience, absolutely. Why?
Because people are making a return on their
investment. By spending money, they’re able to
make even more money.

So it’s a lot easier to persuade someone to spend


more money when they know they can see a return
on that investment.

Can we increase the frequency and how often


customers purchase something?

That’s an obvious yes, because in my experience,
most people never get to the point where they say,
“You know what? I’ve made enough money and I’m
just gonna stop making money now.”

Most people are involved in investments and


money making opportunities until the day they die.

Which is why I think that making money and


investing as a niche, is the most lucrative out of
those 3 top niches.

Because it wins in all three of those categories we


talked about. It’s truly a 5 out of 5 stars in my
opinion, and why I’ve spent 99% of my career
focusing on this niche exclusively.

So when you zoom out and take a look at the big


picture you can see why I like selling digital
products online.

Because the overhead costs are low or virtually


nonexistent. The profit margins are very high.
They’re easily scalable and you create the product
one time and then sell it over and over again.

I also like the make money niche, because it’s the


most lucrative niche where people are going to be

more willing to buy products. Then buy even more
expensive products. Then spend money, more often.

I hope this chapter was an eye-opener for you.

We covered a ton of information, but this is the


stuff that you must know and understand if you
want to be a successful marketer with an online
business.

Now you may be thinking that starting an online


business is so much work you’ll never be able to do
it. And for most people who try and do it on their
own, that’s true.

I will never lie and say owning any kind of business


is easy – it’s not. It takes an investment of time and
money. It takes the ability to take risks and not let
fear hold you back.

It takes a positive attitude and the ability to keep


going when you get knocked down.

But doesn’t everything in life require those things if


you want to be successful? If you apply what I just
said to anything. Any business. Any relationship.
Any health goal – you can be successful.

insights that most people never figure out, and
exposed the reasons why most people fail when it

when you look at the revenue generated by toy

close.

So when we talk about licensing, we have to


recognize that it’s always been one of the fastest
ways to BOTH start and scale a business ….and it
works the exact same way online.

If you read a lot of business books or watch shows,


like Shark Tank, you’ll hear people talking about
licensing all the time. That’s because many of the
world’s biggest brands have brought in a ton of
revenue and have been able to expand quickly
through licensing.

And while it’s similar to franchising, it’s not quite


the same thing, because with licensing you don’t
have those 6- or 7-figure startup fees that you do
with franchising, even though you’re still getting
access to that proven system and proven brand.

So coming back to your situation, again, you really


have just two options.

1. You can either create your own products or


services and figure out how to market and
sell them, or

2. You can license someone else’s products and
market and sell them using a system that’s

If you do decide to license someone else’s products,

Do you have the money to invest in building a team?

Can you afford to hire a technical team, with


support staff, copywriters, and developers?

There can be a lot of costs associated with


acquiring all the different skillsets you need to run
a successful online business.

Particularly when it comes to putting it all together


and setting up all these different pieces of software
and technical platforms so that they integrate
seamlessly and work together.

Take this book for example. You’re reading this


book, which is you either downloaded or was

didn’t just appear out of thin air – I had to structure

Then there’s merchant processing, which is a whole
separate monster and something I can tell you that
catches a lot of people off guard when they try to
get their business off the ground.

Merchant processing can be extremely


overwhelming and confusing, partly because it’s
backed by the banks – so you really have to have
your whole operation together.

For you to even get a merchant gateway set up so


you can accept credit card payments, generally
speaking, you need good credit and you need to
have money in the bank.

Essentially, when you set up a merchant account,


you’re agreeing to shoulder all the risk and back
everything yourself. So if your business goes under
or something goes wrong you’re on the hook for
everything.

There’s a lot of risk to take on, and a lot of


responsibility. It’s important that you’re fully aware
of that up front before you get too deep into it.

There’s a guy by the name of Rich Schefren, who


wrote the Internet Marketing Manifesto, which really
goes into great depth and detail on how to do this

on your own. The cover alone, which shows all the
hundreds of things you need to do, is overwhelming
to me just at first glance.

It’s an unbelievably long list of things you need to


manage, from your merchant account to your taxes,
tracking, finances, site development, software
development, product development, what direction
you’re looking to take your business in and how you
want to develop it – I mean the list goes on and on
and on.

And... he’s just one guru, albeit a credible one, that


has books and courses for you to buy, go through
and then head out into “Do It Yourself” land to
tackle the 800 lb. Gorilla of launching, growing and

Chapter 6: How To Get
Free Traffic and Leads
Now, I’m going to demonstrate and really make it
crystal clear why you need a backend to generate
your profits.

I’m also going to teach you about the secret of the


‘break-even’ funnel.

The secret of the ‘break-even’ funnel is a powerful


strategy that will allow you to get customers for
FREE, for LIFE.

I’m also going to explain to you exactly how you’re


going to earn your first hundred thousand dollars
online, and specifically, where that money is
actually going to come from.

I want to start by telling you about a guy who’s one


of the smartest and most successful marketers –
 Russell Brunson. Now, Russell’s been marketing for
15 or 20 years, and he actually got started selling
potato guns out of his dorm room.

He’s grown and scaled his online business to the


point where it brings in $100 million dollars per

year which is extremely impressive when you think
about the fact that this is a guy who started from
scratch.

I’m actually going to quote him here, because I


think he did a great job of explaining what a break-
even funnel really is. I also want you to see that this
isn’t just some new trick that I made up.

Remember, I told you in previous chapters I don’t


believe in reinventing the wheel. This is a concept
most every millionaire online marketer uses and
believes in, like Religion.

Here’s what Russell said:

And I quote,

“So… I need to set something straight.

When you create your FIRST funnel… the goal can


NOT (and should NOT) be to make money. That goal
is what keeps most entrepreneurs from making
money online.  

They stress out SO much about if it’s going to make


them money, they either make bad decisions or
they never launch the darn thing in the first place.

Putting so much pressure on making it “right,”
usually keeps it from ever going live.

My goal when we create ANY funnel is to get to


break even.  

If I can spend $1 in advertising and make $1 out the


other side of the funnel…  then I’ve won!  

When I have a funnel that can break even on COLD


traffic (not to my existing list) – then I KNOW that I
have the tool I need to grow that company.

THE REASON:  If I can get a funnel to break even,


where I spend $1 and I make $1… that means I got a
CUSTOMER for FREE!  (And THAT is the BIG secret.)”

One of my early mentors, Mike Litman, told me


that “Amateurs focus on the front end.”  

At first, that didn’t make much sense to me, until I


started to grasp the concept of a “break-even
funnel.”

Now, as you look at the image that’s contained in


the accompanying video training on a break-even
funnel (in your member resource area), which is one
that Russell created himself, you can clearly see
what he means by the break-even funnel.

Over on the far left of the image, you can see you
have traffic that you DON’T control, and traffic that
you DO control.

The traffic you don’t control is going to come from


things like SEO, blog content, articles, YouTube
videos, etc, and you’re going to generate traffic
from those sources organically based on people
doing searches on places like Google or Youtube.

On the other hand, traffic you do control is going to


come from Facebook pay-per-click traffic, or any
other paid advertising you’re using to pay for a
specific result. You’re paying for X amount of clicks,
X amount of conversions, X amount of leads, X
amount of sales etc.

Now, that traffic is going to be directed into your
break-even funnel which consists of your landing
page and your front-end low-ticket offer, with
maybe an upsell or two, and of course your
checkout pages.

That is the break-even funnel.

On the back-end, which is where your profits are


going to come from, you’re going to have your
continuity programs (things with recurring
subscription fees) that are going to keep coming in
month after month.

These are the things that are going to generate a lot


of profit for you, along with any other high-ticket
offers you have, because as soon as that person
opts in to your email list they’re now a subscriber
on your email list. And your email list is your
biggest asset as an online marketer because it
allows you to keep selling things to people over
and over again.

The mistake most people make is they try to make


all their money on the first initial sale. In reality, the
key is to have that initial sale just break-even on
your advertising costs.

That way you know for a fact that you are able to
generate more and more customers for free, and
then on the back end, you can focus on maximizing
your profits.

That’s where you’re going to make your first


$100,000, your first $200,000 –  then your first
$500,000, your first $1,000,000.
I recently did an event where I explained a bit more
about the break even funnel, which I think will be
very useful and valuable to you. In this
presentation, I give visuals and more detailed
explanations and examples of what we do in our

Chapter 7: Getting The
Profits Into Your Bank
Account
One thing most online marketers don’t think about
is getting paid.

I mean, they think about getting paid, but they


don’t think about how the money is going to get
into their bank account.

Probably the No. 1 reason why most successful


online marketers struggle, or even fail, is trouble
with merchant accounts.

A merchant account is essentially a bank account or


“processor” that enables the business owner to
accept credit cards for payment.

Paypal is a merchant account. So is Stripe. But


there’s also thousands of other ones too.

When I launched my first company back in 2011, I


was somewhat naive to this important piece of the
puzzle.

After having a huge month – doing over $2 million
in sales within 45 days – our merchant account
company shut us down.

We were doing over $250,000 dollars in sales per


week. Why would  a merchant account company
ever shut us down, especially with all the fees they
are making off each transaction? (most companies
charge a base rate of between 3-to-6% plus a
transaction fee of roughly $0.50-to-$0.75 cents per
transaction. Plus, chargeback fees...and...well, what
seems like fees for everything you can think of!)

Well, merchant account companies (who are


essentially backed by large banks) don’t like risk.
They essentially want all the money, without any of
the risk. Sort of like large banks. The same way a
bank won’t give you a loan because your credit is
too low, or they think you’re too much of a risk of
not paying it back….

...merchant account companies will put you through


the same underwriting process to determine
whether they will process credit card transactions
for you.

Merchant account companies don’t want to process


all your credit card payments. Then pay you out for

them (into your bank account). Then have your
customers come back to the credit card company
later and chargeback the payment – all the
meanwhile, you might not have the money in the
bank to cover those chargebacks.

Wait! Tell their bank to reverse the payment?

Even after THEY were the ones who bought it and


entered their credit card payment on the page?
Yep. Although there are legitimate reasons some
people would chargeback – like if they get scammed
by a shady company who promises one thing and
delivers another – doing a chargeback is also a way
for people to be unethical by buying something and
then going to their bank and asking the bank to
reverse their payment, even after they’ve
consumed the product! But it does happen.

Now, there are ways to win chargebacks as a


company and not have to pay back the money,
especially if you already delivered the service.

If you own an online business or your product is


stored in a membership site, you can show the
merchant company proof that the customer logged
in and consumed the product. Or you can have the
customer sign online digital contracts.

The best way to avoid chargebacks is have an
amazing product or service that people love. Have
amazing customer service. Have a way for people to
get refunds so they don’t go to their bank and
chargeback. Then honor your refund guarantees
and make them clear on your pages and in your
terms.

These are thing things we do at our company.

Now, if all this sounds overwhelming and confusing,


don’t worry – it is. It takes months, if not years, to
learn the ropes of the merchant account and
payment processing world.

If online marketing (or running any business for


that matter) was as easy as 1-2-3, everyone would
be doing it. But, sadly, it’s not.

Chapter 8: How To Close
(lots) Of High-Ticket
Sales
In this chapter I’m going chat with you about your
unfair advantage...and how (and why) you can (and
should) have an army of highly-skilled people
selling for you every single day.

First, I want to point out some interesting statistics,


because the truth is most people don’t really
understand the power and necessity of
selling ...and they don’t understand the difference
between marketing and selling.

Marketing is generating a lead. Sales is converting


that lead into a customer.

So without great marketing you don’t have any


traffic. You don’t have a way to attract interested
prospects who want more information about your
business and what you have to offer them.

And without great sales strategies and follow up


you’re never going to convert anyone from a lead
into a buyer.

your profit will be coming from in your business (if
you follow the advice I’ve been giving you so far in
this book).

These statistics are from the National Sales


Executives Association, and what they found is
shocking. Ready?

First, 48% of people never follow up with a
prospect.

25% of sales people make a second contact, and


then stop.

12% of sales people only make three contacts, and


then stop.

10% of salespeople make more than three


contacts.
Now here’s the important part – the part where we
get into where the actual sales are being made and
what is specifically responsible for generating
revenue within your business.

Through their research, the National Sales


Executives Association found that only 2% of sales
are made on the first contact.

Only 3% of sales are made on the second contact.

Only 5% of sales are made on the third contact.

Only 10% of sales are made on the fourth contact.

And then get this: 80% of sales are made
somewhere between the 5th and the 12th contact.

Let me say that one more time: 80% of sales are


made on the 5th to 12th contact.

So, what’s the process I use to close high-ticket
sales?

Well, let me give you a version of a selling process


that I used for years that’s closed millions of dollars
in high-ticket sales ($2,000 price points and above).

I call it the Master of Enrollment process.

First of all, it’s important that your prospect applies,


or asks you for your info instead of you cold calling
them.

The days of cold calling are dead.


When they contact you for information it’s called an
inbound lead, opposed to an outbound lead
(Inbound = they contact you. Outbound = you
contact them).

You used to have to run ads in newspapers, or on


the radio to generate inbound leads, but now there
are much better ways – like Facebook ads and
YouTube ads (even Google ads, too).

Once you generate interest, you’ll want to make


them apply to get more info. One thing I discovered
that really makes it much easier to get them asking

you for info is to offer them a free gift when they
actually show up to the call.

That one tip alone made me millions of dollars.

When I was running campaigns for training for


network marketers, I offered phone and email
scripts as a free gift when they showed up on the
call and people tripped over themselves to show up
to that call.

Once on the first call, I used what I call “The Pre


Enrollment Script.”

It goes like this:


Hi [prospect’s name], this is [their name] from [your
name] office! How are you today?

Now, I see I’m calling the “123” area code, where


exactly are you located? (insert quick connection or
comment to build report)

I’m really excited for you today! I also have a lot of


people waiting on a call from me today, so let me
jump right into things...

First, I want to take a few minutes to learn about you.

I assume you watched the video. Tell me one thing
you learned so far?

Awesome! Now, in order for me to help you make an


informed decision I need to have a really clear idea of
where you’re currently at. There is only one thing that
I ask of you...

I need you to be courageously honest. Do you agree


to that?

Before we go any further let me lay out an agenda for


the call.

First, I have a few questions to learn little more about


you.

Second, I’ll give you some advice and


recommendations based on what I see and my
experience.

Third, I’ll give you an opportunity to ask any

So typically there’s two different ways we help


people.

#1 – We refer them to certain training material and


let them find and figure out their business on their
own. The benefit of that is we point them the right

reading, learning and trial and error on your own

The lines I bolded are the important 6 questions


(towards the beginning of the script) that will help
you uncover the important information about the
prospect you can use right away, as well as on
follow up calls.

There’s so many important things happening in


this script.

• You’re taking control of the call and setting


an agenda.


• You’re asking questions – listening and


learning about them and their goals and
struggles – instead of just talking and trying
to sound important.


• You uncovering where they’re at financially


in a non-intrusive, yet straightforward way
(there’s a fine line between invasion of

privacy and being direct).


• You’re making it their decision to move


forward by giving them a choice about how
they’d like to proceed (using a very clean and
effective take away approach mid-way
through the script).


• You’re telling them you’re going to be


sending them a sales video (this is the time
to send the sales video. The first video they
see before this call should strictly be value
based – not a sales video).


• You’re setting the follow up right here on


this call, instead of hoping they’ll call you
back or chasing them down the next day (so,
so important).


Once you’ve ended this call you go ahead and send


out the sales video with a nice, short message
about how you enjoyed the call and are looking
forward to speaking them soon. Mention the actual
appointment you just made for the second call –
they need as many reminders as possible.

Next comes the actual Enrollment Script.

This is to be used once they’ve watched your sales/
informational video. If they haven’t (and you’ll want
to find out immediately at the beginning of the
call)... you need to direct them back to watch it and
reschedule the call. Very important.

If they have watched your sales/informational


video, this is the script to use on the second call:

So I assume you made the time to watch the video(s),


right?

Now, before we launch into talking about the


opportunity at hand, I want to find out a few more
things about you. See, there’s a million ways to make
a million bucks. And there’s no doubt this is a great
opportunity that you could help you hit your goals.

Some of that will be because of our team, support


system and marketing tools. Some of it will be
because of your commitment, teachability and
mindset.

FOR THEM or by taking their payment info and
enrollment info FROM THEM.

Now, there’s many powerful things about this


script as well.

But first, obviously, this script is geared towards a


“make money” opportunity (which is the niche I’ve
worked in for nearly a decade online). But just like
the questions in the Pre Enrollment Script, the script
and the questions can be customized to whatever
you’re selling.

It’s what I call a “framework”. It doesn’t have to be


followed exactly, just as long as you stay close the
edge.

Now, some important things to point out that make


the script so powerful:
• Right off the bat, you let the prospect know
you’re busy and don’t have time to “explain”
things if they didn’t make it a priority to
watch your sales/informational video.


• Instead of launching into the offer and how


great it is (which is what they expect you to
do), you learn more about them (their mind

is blown at this point because you’re not just
launching into trying to sell them!)


• You proceed to ask them to sell you on why


they’re good candidates to buy, this creating
desire in them for what you have (instead of
sales resistance)

Now, one final thing I’ll mention here that’s


imperative to closing more high ticket sales on the
phone:

If you get to the end of the Enrollment Script and


you’re not able to close them…

For whatever reason they’re not ready; they don’t


have the money available; they need to consult
their neighbor, etc. (you know the reasons people
come up with to stall buying)....

Make sure you set the follow up appointment. One


of the biggest mistakes I see people in sales do is
leave it up to their prospect to get back to them. It’s
not their job to get back to you!

But it’s not always easy to keep track of dozens – of


even hundreds of leads – so what’s the answer?

Set the appointment for the next call on the current
call.

If you feel the prospect is a qualified potential


buyer and you believe the reason they’re giving you
about why they need more time is legit, go ahead
and set the follow up appointment.

Actually, in most cases where a high-ticket sale is


being made, there will need to be multiple calls,
simply because getting someone to part with
$5,000 to $25,000 requires a level of trust that
usually isn’t there from one call.

Here’s my final advice around closing high ticket


sales: Be determined and persistent. I’ve made
thousands of calls myself and had some of the top
closers and coaches in the world work for me. Want
to know the number one secret I’ve noticed
amongst the top 1% of the top 1%?
There’s no substitute for hustle. If you don’t make
the calls you won’t close the sales. Like I said in the
first part of this chapter, most sales are closed
between the 5th and 12th contact.

Yet, the amount of people who call a prospect once


and move onto the next one is mind boggling.

People are busy. They have lives. They didn’t wake
up and say “I’m going to make myself available for
someone to sell me something today”

You have to be persistent enough to get in front of


them – and that may take 5-to-12 tries!

However, if pounding the phones 8-to-12 hours a


day, working into the night, missing social events –
meant that in 2-3 years you could be a millionaire –
would it be worth it?

Of course it would! Plus, once you hit that level of


success, getting people to say “Yes” to you
becomes so much easier. Because people associate
that level of success with lot’s of other people
saying “Yes” to you – and that’s social proof you
can’t get any other way.

Chapter 9: How To Hire A
Great Virtual Team
I wanted to include a chapter in here on building
teams because it’s one of the most important
elements to scaling your success.

There’s no way to build to tens-of-millions of


dollars in sales without a great team around you.
Even going from $10,000 to $20,000 a month may
require you to hire a virtual assistant or customer
support representative to answer tickets, or emails.

Over the last several years, I’ve built companies


that have had anywhere from 10 all the way up to
100 team members, and one of the most important
things I’ve learned is how to assemble a
phenomenal team.

I’ve built and consulted for some of the largest


companies in the affiliate marketing, network
marketing and direct-sales space and one of the
best pieces of advice I can give to anyone looking
to start, grow and scale their own business is to
invest in great people.
Focus on finding them, training them, working with
them and continuing to invest them. Because at the

end of the day, it’s the people that have great ideas
– that make great products – that create great
culture in the workplace.

It’s people that generate your leads and convert


them into sales. It’s people that are the glue that
holds every great company together, and it’s the
one area of your business that you CANNOT cut
corners in.

You can skimp on your software, on your video


hosting, on your graphic design – but you can never
EVER skimp on hiring the best people.

It’s one of my biggest priorities when it comes to


managing my company – to make sure that we
have the absolute BEST people in position to get
the job done, no matter what it is. And that’s
because I’ve learned over the years that if you have
the WRONG person in a particular position, it’s
going to take on average two to three times as long
to get something done.

You’re going to have to assign a task to them, then


check up on it, then change it, or proof it, or
sometimes even have to do it over yourself.
You’re going to have to micromanage them and
babysit them through the entire process. Which

runs completely counter to the reason you hire
someone in the first place – to remove yourself from
that part of the equation.

When you make the decision to invest in having the


right person in position, you get the job done
correctly – no questions asked.

So many of the people that work for me now have


been with me in some capacity or another for four,
five, six, even seven-plus years now. In my opinion,
that’s one of the ways that you can really tell if
someone is who they say they are. Because if they
have integrity – if they really care about and take
pride in what they do – then they’ll have consistent,
long-term relationships with people around them.

Guaranteed.

Which is why I typically hire and promote from the


inside. I will rarely, if ever, go outside to bring
somebody in at the executive level. Most of the
people who are at an executive or vice president
level position in my company are people who have
worked their way up from the bottom, have
amazing stories of determination and perseverance,
and we’ve rewarded them for their hard work and
their dedication.

We’ve given them promotions that allow them to
earn more money and live the kind of lifestyle that
99% of the rest of the world can only dream of.

It’s important to me that my team members and


staff have the opportunity to live a great and happy
life, and have the means to experience the same
kind of lifestyle freedom I talk about on videos and
from stage.

One of the mistakes I made in the past was treating


my customers and affiliates better than I treated my
internal team.

Today, I focus on building my internal team first,


then as a team we go and attack the world
together.

This may not apply to you just yet, but if you stick
with it it eventually will. Like I said, in order to get
to higher levels of income it will require more
leverage. More hands. More input. More manpower.

Even if it’s just answering support tickets – which is


a very important job if you care what your
customers think of you!

Another huge question I get asked is: Should I build
my team locally, inside a physical location, or
virtually?

And the answer is: If you want to grow fast and


have complete control over your team, especially if
you have a lot of people on salary, you should
definitely build a local in-person team.

However, just know it has it’s downsides, too. You


have to report to an office everyday. You have to be
there – typically at a certain time, even if you are
“the boss”. You have additional expenses to cover
(sometimes into the thousands when you consider
rent, furniture, phone and internet, etc.)

I had an office with nearly 50 team members in it,


and then another 50 around the world back in
2011-14.

What I learned from that experience was that I


could have operated a lot more lean that I was.

In other words, there was a lot of people sitting


around acting busy, or just stirring things up to try
and create work for themselves so they look like
they’re contributing.

These days, I try to build virtually as much as I can.
I’m at a point in my life where I want to really live
the internet lifestyle.

I know I’m very different from most companies –


especially internet marketing education companies.
Because while most of them are preaching the
dream, they’re actually living a nightmare.

They’re offering to teach you how to have freedom


so you can work from anywhere and travel the
world, but in reality, they’re stuck inside an office,
slaving away at a cubicle. For me, that’s what being
in alignment is.

That’s why we follow four-core principles here at


my company, Legendary Marketer. The first of
which is integrity.

I believe you must have integrity in business, which


means doing the right thing when no one is looking.
It means putting people over profits. It means
putting people first. Because, as I said earlier,
people are the business.

The second core principle we follow is longevity


and sustainability. There are so many different
business models and opportunities out there, but

the truth is, so many of them eventually fizzle out
because they don’t have ownership or executive
staff who are focusing on the long term. They’re
simply not sustainable business models.

We’ve built Legendary Marketer with a focus on


being around for the long-term and being a
sustainable business.

What do I mean by that?

Well, there are decisions that an owner and an


executive team can make that determines whether
a company is going to be around for long term.

Are they treating their customers and their affiliates


right?

Are they in it for the short-term gains or for the long


term vision?

Because the fact is being in it for the long-term


vision often means giving up the short-term gains.

Is the company financially solvent? Is there a


predictable stream of revenue being generated for
the company?

Because these days, affiliates are always looking at
compensation and commission structures to see if
they’re getting all of the money. Part of that is my
fault because I’ve helped so many people earn so
much money online.

But what I learned is that if the company is not


making enough money to pay the owner to stay
focused on the business, and pay for a great team
and great platforms and software, it won’t be
around long.

So the way we’ve built our compensation structure


for our affiliates is such that it allows us to pay out
the maximum amount of commission while still
being able to maintain an amazing staff, host
amazing events, publish amazing products and
content, use the best software and the best
technical platforms, have the best developers…

…and the reality is that all costs money.

The third principle that we follow here at


Legendary is vision.

There’s a quote that says, “Where there is no vision,


the people will perish.” And I believe that’s true.
Because if there is no vision, then there is no

unified direction that everyone can work towards,
because everyone will be doing what they think is
best.

Which essentially means there’s not going to be


any momentum and everyone is going to be pulling
in different directions. And at the end of the day, no
one is really going to accomplish anything.

There may be lots of little accomplishments and


little victories –  but there won’t be anything BIG,
nothing substantial.

So there must be a vision. We have to know where


we’re going, and that’s why I’m focused on having a
vision and knowing where we’re going. Plus, I’m
focused on making sure that we have an amazing
staff around us that can help us get there.

The last principle is solutions. This is so important


because people so often just focus on the problem.
We know there’s going to be problems, because
there’s going to be problems anywhere, in any
company. And I can tell you that at Legendary
Marketer we have challenges and problems and
issues too, just like any other company. We expect
all those things, because it’s a normal part of being
in business

But what we DON’T do is dwell on those problems.

We immediately transition to focusing on a


solution.

Those are core ideas and principles I follow around


building stable teams and foundations my company
can grow on and help a lot of people.

Chapter 10: The Online
Fame Formula
I want to talk about the formula for creating fame,
authority, and respect in your business. Now, I’m
not talking about getting famous like Kim
Kardashian. No. I’m talking about becoming an
authority. Someone, who when they speak – people
listen.

So, “Does money come from power, or does power


come from money?”

Actually, power and authority comes from results.

Because if you don’t have results, people are not


going to respect you, and you’re not going to be an
authority.

But the thing is, results in business usually come


from making money, or helping your clients and
customers make money. So of course, my goal in
Legendary Marketer is to help you make money so
you can develop your success story.

Then from that money, those results and that
success story will come fame, authority, and respect
in your business (and in turn, mine, too).

That’s when your success will really start to


compound and grow exponentially. But let me
explain what I mean by that.

When I first got my start in this business, I was just


like anybody else. I had no contacts, no experience
and no previous success. I didn’t even have a
decent sized budget to work with because I was still
working construction.

This was back in 2009 when I was a total newbie


coming online for the first time. But over the course
of 12 months, I had my first $10,000 month, and
then over the next two years, I had my first $40,000
month.

Since then, there has not been a single month in the


past six years where I haven’t made at least
$50,000 a month – and the truth is most months
since then have been six figures or above.

Now, because of that success, my reputation


precedes me. Over the years, people have heard of
me or seen me and know about the success I’ve had

in this industry – to the point where before
someone even speaks to me for the first time, I’ve
already got that authority, respect, and in some
cases, fame, in their eyes.

The cool thing is that the same “fame” I speak of is


available to anyone nowadays. Anyone who’s
willing to do the work to get the result. Because
ultimately fame is just recognition, so becoming
recognizable means becoming famous.

Think about actors for a second – actors are famous


because we’ve seen them in other movies before
and we like the parts they play.

Over the years, I’ve seen plenty of newbie online


marketers do the same exact thing I did, and many
of them came online from construction jobs just
like me, or were stay-at-home moms or dads.

These are people who didn’t really know much


when they got started, but they didn’t let that stop
them Now they’ve gone on to command that
money, respect and influence anytime they want.

It’s why they buy expensive cars, houses and flashy
jewelry. Because they see those things as status
symbols.

Those status symbols allow you to develop instant


influence. What I mean by that is this: if you go out
today and buy a Bentley, or a Rolls Royce, or a
Range Rover, you’ll have instant influence because
people view those things as symbols of status.

If you have a beautiful ring or an expensive watch


people will recognize that as a status symbol and
you’ll have instant influence. This all comes from
the fact that people want to be more important –
they want to be more powerful – they want to be
respected.

The way people go about that is in a way that’s


socially recognized, and we’ve been judging people
the same way for thousands of years. Think about it.

Going back to all the ancient Kings and Queens and
Emperors in civilizations past, all of them focused
on acquiring material wealth. On acquiring things
like gold and jewelry and building big, huge castles
for themselves. Because that’s how humans
recognize status.

We don’t recognize status based on how many kids


you have, right? There are plenty of people out
there who have no fame, no authority, and no
respect, but they have a bunch of kids.

So how your status is measured and viewed is


based on those things.

Which is why, at Legendary Marketer we’ve


developed a success club. Inside this success club,
we recognize you the same way that professional
sports players get recognized when they win a
championship, and that’s by giving out rings.

You don’t have to personally know a pro player who


won the Super Bowl or the World Series – to know –
that the most important thing they carry around
with them is that championship ring.

Let me tell you a story. I was in a cigar bar one day,


smoking a cigar and sitting next to a guy I didn’t

know. I certainly didn’t think he was anyone special
or anyone important, at least until we started
talking.

I quickly realized that he had been a part of the


Minnesota Twins, a pro baseball team. And he told
me that he was part of the team that won a World
Series. Then he pulled his championship ring and
showed it to me. As soon as he showed me that
ring, instantly, he was someone of importance.

Someone to respect. Someone that I was suddenly


much more interested in.

That is precisely the kind power that these status


symbols can have. I’ve got rings that I’ve received
from other companies for being a million-dollar
earner and I can tell you that they look a lot like a
Super Bowl ring or a World Series ring. What they

In order to hit your first six figures, or your first


million dollars, you need to be incredibly focused.
My dad used to say, you need to put the blinders on.
Because your success is always going to be directly
proportionate to your ability to focus on your goals.

You need to have a daily method of operation. You


need to know what you’re doing every single day.

That’s why we make it as easy as possible for our


licensees/affiliates here at Legendary to get set up
and focus on one thing, and one thing only, which is
driving traffic and generating leads.

We take care of everything else so all you have to


do is focus on getting those people in the front
door. Your job is to drive traffic.

That is your daily method of operation, and nothing


else – at least in the very beginning.

Next, you need to get very specific about what it is
that you want and what it is that you’re striving for.
I want you to have a physical dream board (even if
you think it’s corny). Because the truth is, if you
have no vision of where you’re going and what you
want, then you don’t have a clue what you’re
working for. And you need that.

I want you to think about what kind of car you want


to drive. What color is the interior? Do you want it
to have 20-inch rims, or leather seats? Is it going to
be a sports car or an SUV? What kind of engine is it
going to have?

Then you have to think about what kind of home


you want to live in. What state and what
neighborhood is it in? What kind of kitchen do you
want? What kind of countertops will you have in
the kitchen? What about flooring? How many
rooms? What kind of bed and dresser do you want?

How many bathrooms will you have? Will they


have marble or stone? Will you have a steam room?
Does it have shower heads coming out from both
sides of the wall so that every time you step in that
shower you get that amazing feeling on your skin?

What about travel? Where do you want to travel?
What countries do you want to visit?

How are you going to get there? Do you want to fly


coach or do you want to fly first class? Have you
ever seen those large double-decker planes that
give you a bed and a TV so you can snuggle up and
sleep for six or seven hours in absolute comfort?
That’s what it means to travel in luxury.

Can you imagine yourself doing that?

Maybe you need a picture you can download from


the internet and cut out so you can look at it on a
daily basis. You need to know where you’re going
and what you’re doing.

Maybe you want to own your plane. That’s totally


okay, too. Get a picture of that plane up on your
wall so you can look at it every day.

Maybe you need some pictures of your family up on


there as well, because you want to be able to do
things for them, too. Maybe you want to be like me
and go and surprise your dad with a brand-new
truck, or hand your mom the keys to a brand-new
house. Maybe you want to send your kid away on a
big vacation as a gift for accomplishing something.

I want you to get clear on those faces, and those
cars, those houses, and that air travel. Be as specific
as possible. Get clear pictures of all those things in
your head, and visualize yourself acquiring those
things every single day.

One of the most important things I did when I first


got started was… I started to speak as if I was
already successful – as if I had already achieved my
goals. This gave me confidence and conviction to
the point where people could recognize – even
smell – success on me!

Have you ever been in a room where somebody


walked in and you just knew, right away, that they
were successful?

They looked successful, they talked successful,


they sounded successful.

Even if you’re not there yet – if you start talking like


that every day, you’re going to come off as much
more successful and influential to your prospects
and business peers, and that’s very, very important.

I’m not talking about being inauthentic or “faking it


until you make it.” It’s simply about implementing
the most practical Law of Attraction strategies that

are available to you right now. Which are
visualizing the things you want in life and speaking
them into existence. It’s about carrying yourself as if
all those things have already become a reality for
you.

You have to have structure in order to accomplish


these things.

You absolutely have to have structure, because


someone who pulls their chair up to the computer
every morning but has no idea what they’re
working on is not going to be effective. They’re not
going to get much done. So you have to structure
your days and your weeks in a way that allows you
to do that.

You may have to let some people go in your life in


order to focus on what’s important to you and
guard your energy. Your inner circle may end up
getting smaller when you do this, but that’s not
always a bad thing. Because I believe you are the
average of the five people you spend the most time
with.

So make sure those five people are feeding you the


positivity and the inspiration and the enthusiasm
you need to think bigger, not smaller. You need

people who are going to give you more faith, not
more fear.

You have to guard your time. They say your eyes


(what you see), your ears (what you hear), and your
watch (your time) are the most important things
you own.

You have to know what’s coming into your eyes;


into your ears; and into your calendar. Make people
set appointments with you and use a calendar to
schedule everything in your life. If it’s not booked
on you calendar, then it shouldn’t happen.

That way you can have structure; you can guard


your time; because it’s important and valuable.

People fail to become successful because they fail


to treat themselves like they deserve success. Start
treating yourself like you deserve success, because
you do.

Have you ever just strolled into a doctor’s office or a


CPA and have them sitting there, waiting for you?
No, because they’re busy.

Sure, they might accept walk-ins, but you might also


have to sit there for an hour and wait for them to

finish what they’re doing. That’s why most, if not all
professionals, make people set appointments.
Because they aren’t just sitting there waiting
around for you to call or walk in.

So guard your time. Get obsessive with it. You train


people how to treat you. If you’re not getting the
respect you deserve it’s because you’re not letting
people know you're someone who should be
respected.

This is the type of total personality change it


usually takes to become a millionaire (in any
business). There’s only one staircase to the top.
Most people aren’t willing to climb it.

However, it’s not a race. It’s actually a really


enjoyable ride if you take your time and follow the
principles laid out in this chapter; and in this book.

Get focused. The life you want, wants you. It’s not
crowded at the top. It’s crowded at the bottom.

The bottom is full of people working hard, trying


not to work hard (the irony!). Simply put: the
bottom is full of people unwilling to do the simple
things I laid in this chapter. Do them and succeed.

Chapter 11: How To Fund
Your Business
I want to talk about the elephant in the middle of
the room. The big “problem” almost every person
talks about being the thing stopping them from
going after their dreams.

It’s the one thing that’s keeping you from doing


what you want. Living how you want. Going where
you want.

It’s the single thing that’s keeping you from driving


what you want. Living where you want. Traveling
where you want.

It’s also the No. 1 excuse people give for not being
able to start a business of their own.

What is it?

“I don’t have the money”

Look, back in 2009, exactly one year after I bounced


back from being homeless, I was swinging a
hammer on a construction site and realized that
wasn’t my destiny.

I wanted to turn my mess into a message. I wanted
to turn my struggles into my strengths.

I wanted to travel, drive nice cars and live in big


houses. I wanted to do nice things for my parents.

Do you want to do those things, too? If so, you’re


going to have to lose the excuse of not having the
money. You need to find the money.

I wasn’t able to qualify for a loan back then. I had


worse than bad credit, I had no credit!

So I went to the only person who might consider


giving me a loan – my mom. She loaned me
$10,000 cash and I put that money to work.

I wasn’t an overnight success, but slowly I turned


that ten grand into twenty grand. Then thirty grand.

Over the last 7 years, you could say I turned


that$10,000 into nearly $200 million. Crazy to
think about, but it’s true.

I was resourceful, even though I didn’t have the


resources. These days, I’m the one investing in

other companies. Investing in real estate. Investing
in the stock market.

You need to learn the secret OPM Business Method.

Now, what does OPM stand for?

It stands for other people’s money.

And the reason why it’s so important is that we find


that this is the simplest and easiest way for people,
especially brand new people, to get started and
actually see some success right away.

The other important piece for new people is OPP,


which stands for other people’s products.

But first, let’s talk about how to fund your business


your business.

The truth is that there’s literally billions of dollars


available for people like you and me to start a
business, in America and around the world. I’m
talking about both public and private agencies and
companies that make funding available for
entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Why would they do that, especially the
government? Well, first of all, entrepreneurs and

small business owners end up paying a lot of
money in taxes and they fuel the economy.

So both private companies and the government


have an interest in funding businesses and
providing financing to businesses because they can
make money. It’s like an investment; or a service; or
a even a business to them.

Private companies will make money off of interest,


while the government will make money off of taxes.

Now, I want to talk to you about how different


people throughout history have financed their
business who you may have never suspected
started out with nothing.

Because at the end of the day I’ve found it’s not


about someone's resources, but instead about their
resourcefulness.

I also think there’s a mental block that exists for


most people when they go to start their business.
It’s a combination of fear, money blocks and
ignorance around the fact that most successful
entrepreneurs had to finance their business to get it
off the ground.

So I’d like to give you several examples just to
demonstrate that a little more clearly.

First, we have a gentleman named Sir Philip Green.


His fortune is currently estimated at 3.88 billion
British Pounds and he has companies in fashion and
retail.

The start-up capital he used was 20,000 British


Pounds, and he used that money to set up his first
business importing jeans from the Far East and
selling them to retailers in London.

Sir Philip Green went on to become the owner of


the Arcadia Group, which owns well-known high
street chains such as Burton, Dorothy, Perkins, Miss
Selfridge, Topshop/Topman, and Wallis.

Today, his fortune is 3.88 billion British Pounds.

The next entrepreneur is Mike Ashley, whose net


worth is estimated at $3.75 billion. He’s in retail,
sports equipment, and fashion, and his startup
capital was a loan worth $10,000.

After leaving school at 16, he became a county


level squash coach in the 1980s. He opened up his
first Sport & Ski shop in Maidenhead before hitting

the big time with Sports Direct, which started from
a $10,000 loan, and is now a presence across UK’s
high streets.

Sir Richard Branson is another one. His fortune is


estimated at $3.6 billion. He’s in tourism, finance,
and media.

His start-up capital was only a loan for $300. He


epitomizes the self-made entrepreneur, as he
started off creating a student magazine and then in
1970, at age 16, he founded a mail-order record
company. Within his first year, he had opened his
first shop on London’s Oxford Street – Virgin
Records. Virgin has now become a brand which
covers everything from telecommunications to
space tourism.

How about Sam Walton? He got his start in retail


after he opened up his first store in 1945, with a
total of $20,000 of which he had to borrow from his
father-in-law. Walton was able to quickly grow Wal-
Mart into one of the biggest retailers in the United
States, and was even, for a time, the richest man in
America.
Then there’s Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard – the co-
founders of Hewlett & Packard. They started what
would go on to become an industrial giant with just

$538 in total assets, which included a bit of cash
and a used drill press. Today, Hewlett-Packard has a
market cap of $88 billion dollars, and generates
over $100 billion in sales per year.

Lastly, we have a group of people by the names of


Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegel, and Gordon Bowker. You
may not recognize their names, but you definitely
know the company they started – Starbucks. After
they each invested a little over $1,300 into the
business, they had to get a loan for another $5,000
from the bank. It wasn’t until they stopped focusing
on selling beans and started making coffee, tea and
other drinks inside the store that their business
took off. Today, Starbucks brings in about $10
billion in revenue per year.

I could go on all day with these examples of


successful entrepreneurs who started their
business using “OPM” (other people's money) and
went on to create empires.

The only difference is between them and you is


they asked. I wholeheartedly believe that you get in
life what you have the courage to ask for.
You get the girl (or the guy) if you have the courage
to ask.

You close the sale and make the commission if you
have the courage to ask.

You get the last piece of pizza in the box if you have
the courage to ask.

You get help moving (so you don't have to hire a


moving company) if you have the courage to ask.

You get “the best seat in the house” at your favorite


restaurant if you have the courage to ask (trust me,
try it!)

The same goes for your business. If you need funds,


you may to ask ask around to a few different places.
However, you’ll get back in return what you have
the courage to ask for.

You should also remember that the costs of starting


a business are all TAX DEDUCTIBLE! (consult with
your CPA, as I’m not giving you accounting or
financial advice). I just know that I run as much as I
can through my business because I get to write it
off as a business expense. Thus saving me from
paying more taxes than I already do!

Chapter 12: Building Your
Digital Database
In this final chapter, I’m going to talk to you about
how to build your digital database.

“What’s that, Dave?” It’s your list of email leads that


are the long term source of income for you in this
business.

Let me ask you…. Would you like to be able to pay


once, and after that, get free traffic for life?

Well that’s exactly what having a list of email


addresses can mean for you. Now, these aren’t just
email addresses you bought or rented from some
random list broker, although those type of lists are
available.

These are real people who have responded to an


advertisement and have asked for more information
about what you have to offer.

To explain how this works in detail, I’m going to


start by showing you an image which really
explains how driving traffic and generating leads
really works.

When you think about it, most people don’t really
understand where the value of something like
Facebook or Google actually comes from. Let’s take
Facebook as an example.

When you think about Facebook, they’re a company


that doesn’t have a physical product. They don’t
have anything to ship to your door. Their value isn’t
in a physical product or even a physical building.

Their real asset is in their database; in their list of


customers.

Their money comes from the fact they know all of


us are on Facebook all the time.

We are part of their database, and as a result, they


know things about us. Which means that
advertisers can come on Facebook and say “Hey, I’d
like to target males between 30 and 50, who live in
Florida, and who are interested in fishing.”

And Facebook says, “Well, here’s Joe Blow, and


50,000 other guys who we can tell you definitely fit
this description. And we know that through their
profiles, as well as what they post about and who
they interact with on Facebook.”

That gives advertisers the ability to build a very
targeted audience that they can then advertise
their products and services to.

So that’s where the real value of Facebook is – it’s


in their database and their ability to communicate
with you instantly about something they know
you’re likely to be interested in.

Just imagine if Facebook sent an email out to all 4


billion of their users, which is approximately how
many people are on Facebook right now.

Out of the 7 billion people in the world, 4 billion


of them are on Facebook. That’s the power that
they have, and it’s because of their database.

Now let’s talk about how you’re going to build your


digital database and then follow up with those
people for many months and years to come.

Because as we talked about in one of the previous


chapters, sometimes a person will buy right away,
but most people are going to buy somewhere
between the 5th and the 12th contact.
I’ve had people who are in my digital database and
have been receiving my emails for months, even

years, and finally after a year or two they finally
decide to buy something after receiving my emails
for that long.

So let’s break down this image of the Internet


Marketing Formula and how it relates to your
digital database:

As you can see on the left, you’re driving traffic


from all kinds of different places online, whether
it’s Facebook, YouTube or Solo ads. Or even done-
for-you traffic that we or some of our strategic
partners provide for you (if you’re involved in our
license program). Regardless of where that traffic
comes from, it usually goes to a squeeze page.

Now, that squeeze page may just have text on it, or


it may also have a video, but either way, what

you’re doing is collecting someone’s email address
and then offering them the chance to buy
something right away once they opt-in.

Where the real magic happens is when they enter


their email on that squeeze page, that email is
added to something called a digital database or
autoresponder list.

You may be familiar with some of the service


providers that offer this kind of thing, like iContact,
Constant Contact, Aweber, GetResponse, SendLane,
or even some of the heavier CRM platforms like
Infusionsoft or Salesforce.

But the point is, that email gets added into your
digital database.

So now, not only can you follow up with them


immediately, but they’re going to automatically
receive your email communications until they
unsubscribe.

Many of them will unsubscribe eventually. But


many of them are going to buy.

Some of them are going to buy right away, and


some of them are going to buy as you continue to

email them and stay in front of them over the
weeks, months, and years to come.

That’s the magic of the digital database.

Now, in some cases you can get even more qualified


leads if you collect additional information like their
name, phone number or address, but at the bare
minimum you’re collecting their email address.

Our goal here at Legendary is to help you build


your email list so you can develop a huge digital
database.

In doing so, you’re going to be able to create a


steady and predictable stream of income over the
years.

On average, if you’re following up regularly and


staying in touch with your leads, they’re typically
going to be worth between $1 and $2 per month
(again, depending on your relationship with them;
how often you communicate with them; how much
value you provide them and how much influence
you have with them).

So if you have a list of 5,000 subscribers, and you’re


nurturing them and communicating with them on a

regular basis, you can expect to generate roughly
$5,000 to $10,000 from that 5,000 person email
list each and every month!

You can start to see how your income can grow


somewhat predictably as you continue to build your
email list.

of dollars over the years – and I had less than
10,000 subscribers my first 3 years!

I just emailed them regularly. I provided value. I


kept in touch. I even updated them on my personal
life, although that’s not a requirement.

You never have to show your face if you don't want


to. I even know people who use pen names.

The bottom line is to get in this game you have to


have a system, products and you have to start
driving traffic and building your list.

You can read as many books as you can stand,


attend hundreds of webinars but anyone who

Once you have a list you’ve built up and nurtured


it’s like having a personal ATM machine you can
