1. JIANGSU UNIVERSITY
1.1. INTRODUCTION
Jiangsu University (JSU) is ranked among the top 100 universities out of over 2,000 higher
educational institutions in China. JSU is one of the oldest educational institutions in China, and
its origin can be traced back to 1902 when it was first established as Sanjiang Normal College.
JSU was then founded out of the initial college by combining the former Jiangsu University of
Science and Technology (a national key university), Zhenjiang Medical College and
Zhenjiang Teachers’ College with approval from the Ministry of Education, China in August,
2001.

JSU enjoys a national reputation of being among the top research based academic
institution for engineering sciences with several innovative achievements and patents rights
for its achievement and contribution to the economic growth of China and world economy.
Other academic disciplines have also witnessed astronomical growth in their research faculty
and quality of graduates they turn out yearly. This has continually made the University to enjoy
an influx of international students from all continents with resultant increased growth in
linkages and exchange programs with other educational institution around the world.
Since 2005, JSU started to enroll a complete batch of degree learners. Presently, over 1,200
international students from more than 80 countries are studying in JSU. The University
internationalization drive has been yielding the desired results through extensive learning and
research work.

2.1.2. BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
Program Introduction
The graduates who can master the knowledge of Economics, Management, Economic
Law, as well as the basic skill and method on Business Management. To be familiar with the
rule of operation, trade and the knowledge of business economic benefit analysis. To be
engaged in management, teaching and researching in a business unit, government
department, or research institute.

2.1.3. CLINICAL MEDICINE (MBBS)
Program Introduction
JSU’s Medical School has first-class facilities on campus, purpose built for learning. The
teaching and learning buildings are well-equipped with excellent seminar facilities and
dedicated problem based learning rooms. The University’s Affiliated Hospital, is a
state-of-the-art building offering a superb teaching environment with a dedicated clinical
skills teaching area for the students. It possess excellent clinical and surgical facilities all of
which each student gets chances to learn and work in.

2.1.4. CHEMICAL ENGINEERING AND PROCESSES
Program Introduction
For students who aspire to a professional career with chemical engineering, our
undergraduate courses in Chemical engineering provide a firm and broad-based education,
with a provision for a substantial amount of specializations in the elective courses. Basic
theory, skills and research methods of chemical engineering will be carried out. After
four-year education, the students should have the ability to serve the fundamental industry
with modern scientific technology of chemistry and engineering, be able to do scientific
research, product and process design, technical administration and so on.

2.1.5. CHINESE LINGUISTICS AND LITERATURE
Program Introduction
The program focuses on developing advanced proficiency in Chinese with the goal of
carrying out linguistic or literary studies. While achieving proficiency in Chinese,
undergraduate majors are exposed to the major works of Chinese literature ranging from
classical texts of the earliest periods to recent works of modern fiction, as well as to the
linguistic approach to analyzing and understanding the features of the Chinese language.

Food Science and Technology is the application of science and engineering principles
to the design, analysis, processing, packaging, production, preparation, evaluation and
storage of foods, food ingredients, and beverages.

5. NON-DEGREE PROGRAMS
5.1. CHINESE LANGUAGE LEARNING
JSU’s Chinese language programs have been designed by students and teachers
together, and offer a unique charm. The programs are geared for students with no or little
exposure to China and Chinese language. During their stay, teachers will guide students into
developing a secure foundation of the language in an immersive Chinese ambience. Classes
are medium-sized and taught by enthusiastic, bilingual and professional teachers.
Intake:
Enjoy your vacations in a deep culture experience in China. The language classes strive
to develop student’s speaking and listening skills. Students will also undertake dozens of
cultural activities and excursions to gain sensitivity to the world’s oldest standing civilizations.

JSU offers a variety of short-term programs for the interested. The Following short-term
programs (5.3 and 5.4) can be customized according to the request by applicants.
Duration: Customized
This course is designed to cultivate the students’ skills of listening and speaking and
enlarge the vocabulary and its usage in a short term. What’s more, students can participate
in interactive role-playing performances, which contain various real Chinese communicative
scenes. Such practical oral Chinese training with rich content will encourage students to
speak with confidence. Teaching plan will be worked out according to the study goal and
registration is welcome at any time.

5.5. SUMMER SCHOOL - ENGINEERING
Materials Forming
Duration: 1 month
Intake: July/August (Can also be organized any time for group applicants)
All the schools of JSU can accept either long-term or short-term programs of visiting
scholars abroad, including English-taught Bachelor Training or Practice Programs, PG
research cooperative programs, and Senior Visiting Programs for professors or doctors.
Duration: Flexible
Fees: 3,000 CNY per month (Arts); 4,000 CNY per month (Science)

5.7. PRE-UNIVERSITY FOUNDATION PROGRAM
Prepare for your college study in a dynamic, supportive environment. JSU offers
non-credit pre-university courses, and are designed as refresher courses for students who
need improvement in the subjects considered essential for related first-year courses at JSU. In
the end of the course, students who wish to take bachelor degree courses at JSU will have to
apply for “Admission Entrance Exam for Overseas Students”. Students who score well in this
exam will be admitted to the next intake for bachelor degree students.

6.6. A&W SCHOLARSHIP
A&W Enterprise of Shanghai introduces it’s scholarship fund in benefit of foreign students
of Jiangsu University. A&W desires strengthening of Sino-foreign relationships and sharing love
and resources in a global scale. This fund is made available to selected undergraduate and
postgraduate students with outstanding academic results, good conduct and students
facing financial problems. Students who actively participate in social events are given
priority.

6.8. JSU SCHOLARSHIP FOR SOCI AL CONTRIBUTORS
Chinese language learning and promotion is one of the top priority in internalization of
JSU. Every year, top rankers among students who take HSK Exam (Chinese Language
Proficiency) every year will be awarded with a cash prize. Students of Elementary,
Intermediate and Advanced classes should take HSK level 4, 5 and 6 respectively.

7. ADMISSION PROCEDURE
7.1. ELIGIBILTY
In good health condition, in accordance with the Health Standard for International
Students stipulated by the Ministry of Education, China.
Good moral character and discipline towards the laws and regulations of the Chinese
government and the university.

7.3. APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Applications to all programs should be ONLY done online through JSU “Online
Application System” http://admission.ujs.edu.cn
STEP 2: Fill out the application and upload all required documents as follows

STEP 5: You will receive your admission notice through e-mail after successful verification
STEP 6: Check your admission notice and pay* admission fees before the due date.
Bachelor students: Pay 400 CNY (application fees) + 2,000 CNY (seat reservation)
PG, PhD and Non-Degree Students: Pay 400 CNY (application fees)

Non-degree and Short-term programs: Please check section 5.
All students are expected to pay off fees on arrival, or will be unable to obtain resident
permit. Application fee (400 CNY) and seat reservation deposit (2,000 CNY, which will be
treated as part of tuition when you register) are non-refundable. Fees might be reviewed by
JSU according to the actual world economic situation every year.
8.2. ACCOMMODATION
LONG-TERM ACCOMMODATION:
4,500 or 4,900 per person per academic year (Double-room)
SHORT-TERM ACCOMMODATION:
Bedding Items: 400 CNY (pillow, bed sheet, blanket, mattress etc.) optional
Physical Examination: 400 CNY (to be paid to Entry-Exit Inspection & Quarantine Bureau)
Medical Insurance Fee: 600 CNY/ year (to be paid to the life insurance company)
