W
e have come to visit our cemeteries last November
1 (Feast of All Saints) and 2 (Commemoration
of All the Faithful Departed) with evident
celebratory spirit. Amidst masses and prayers, we had
a rather joyful encounter with relatives; and old and new
found friends among others, as we offer flowers and light
candles before the tombs of our beloved.
Our Faith reminds us, that as we wait for the coming of
the Lord at the end times, we the members of the Church
on earth (Church Militant) prays and offer sacrifices
to our beloved souls in purgatory (Church Suffering/
Grieving/Expecting) so that once in heaven with
all the saints (Church Triumphant) they will, with
the blessings of God, intercede for us in our continuing
pilgrimage until the end of time, where with God, we will
all be together in eternity!
This indeed is a reunion in time, of these varied
members of the Church, the BODY of the Risen Lord.
With the company of angels, we have members who are
seen and unseen. But the bond is real that brings us all
together. By the INDWELLING SPIRIT in each one’s
heart and as we gather in Faith as Church, in our prayers,
in the celebration of our Sacraments and in charity that

The Sinner…The Saint

we embrace as our lifetime mission – we deeply connect
with one another and grace each other to continue to build
the Body of Christ, the Community of Believers, despite
and beyond our differences and before the challenges that
may have stirred us temporarily to cause divisions with
one another.
Our hearts can be misled and get intoxicated by naked
power and we can sin mortally. Wounds brought about
by our sinning are real; and can even lead to the death
especially of the innocents. In time, our bones get dried
up losing the breathe of the spirit.
Again, we are not racing through life to be ahead of
the rest. That will be a life without meaning.
In this REUNION, just as we pray for the souls of our
beloved departed, we ask the SAINTS to wrestle with our
conscience so that our arrogance will be broken to pieces;
and humbled on our knees with our hearts in grief, like
many saints themselves, we shall know how to surrender
everything of what we are and what we have into the
HEART of HIM, whose love is as wide as the ocean, and
can make a saint of anyone of us from the worse sinner
that we are, before Him!

 Cancer Treatment:
Holistic Approach
CANCER is one of the most difficult disease to cure
or heal. So far, no effective treatment for cancer has been
found—especially when it has metastasized or spread to
other vital organs. Standard medical treatment such as
chemotherapy, surgery and radio-therapy does not always
work. They are very expensive and there is no guarantee of
a cure. These can only extend the life of a patient for a few
months or years. That is why for many, being diagnosed
with cancer is like being handed the death sentence.
Why is a cure for cancer so elusive? The problem comes
from lack of understanding of what cancer truly is and what
causes it. The dominant paradigm is that cancer is purely
a physiological ailment that requires medical treatment. It
is the invasion and spread of malignant cells in the body.
These cells may come from the food and substances that
are considered carcinogenic—including smoking. Thus, it is
necessary to wage war on these cellS—search and destroy—
using whatever means necessary: chemical/laser warfare,
surgical strikes, etc. Only doctors (especially oncologists
& surgeons), nurses and medical technicians can be relied
on in this war against cancer. The patient must have the
will to fight cancer. Oftentimes it ends in death which is
considered a defeat.
To regard cancer as purely a physiological and medical
problem is most likely one of the main reasons why it is
difficult to cure cancer. It is based on a dichotomy between
the body and the mind.  A more revolutionary approach
to cancer treatment promoted by oncologists such as
Drs. Carl Simonton and Bernie Siegel is to regard cancer
as a psycho-somatic disease that requires a more holistic
approach to healing. Instead of looking at a particular
part of the body or an organ that is affected by cancer, it
is helpful to understand the person as whole—the joyful
and sorrowful mystery of his/her
life, the frustrations, anger, grief,
alienation, shattered dreams, failed
relationship, etc. It is important
to know his/her story. The body
is affected by the state of the mind
and the soul. Thus, the question that
should be asked is: what has been
happening to this person before the
onset of cancer. One of the findings
in studies conducted among patients
is that stress caused by sense of loss,
anger, guilt and anxiety, a feeling of
helplessness and hopelessness can
lower the body’s natural defense or
immune system and contribute to
the growth of malignant tumors and
cells.
The question that also needs to
be asked is: what are the benefits of

having cancer?
For some, it is experiencing the loving care and concern
which is lacking in one’s life.
It could also be a means of escape from an intolerable
situation, the inner pain or hurt that one has been carrying.
It can be an honorable exit, a subconscious suicide. The
mind has a powerful effect on the body—it can contribute
to sickness as well as to wellness or healing.
Thus, in dealing with cancer patients, there are three
dimensions of healing that we should look at:  physical
(body), psychological (mind) and spiritual (soul). All these
are connected and they influence each other. That is why
healing must be holistic.  A more holistic approach can Parish

In the first reading, we witness Moses’

PYM: 27 years as Jesus’ Partners in guiding
the Young Members of the Church,” amo ini ang

Jaro. Ang Jaro Parish Youth Ministry (JPYM) may mga

kapiyestahan sang Birhen Santo Rosaryo bilang patrona
sang Barangay Calubihan. May ara sang pagpangadi
sang Santo Rosaryo taga alas 6:00 sang gab-e asta sa adlaw
sang kapiyestahan.
Sa adlaw sang piyesta, gin hiwat ang Santos nga Misa
nga ginpanguluhan ni Msgr. Jose Marie Amado-Delgado.
Sa iya homily, iya gin patpat ang duwa ka punto nga dapat

Santo Rosaryo.

German Visitors for our BECs/MKKs
L
ast Sunday, October 28, 2018 we have 11 German Visitors
composed of some clergy and lay people who visited our
parish to observe our MKK activities here. Three priest
of the team concelebrated with Msgr. Jose Marie Amado S.
Delgado’s Misa Pro populo while the lay members attended
the mass. After the mass they went around the vicinity of the
cathedral for familiarization.
The dialogue started at about 9:40 A.M. with Mr.
Renato Mecenas leading the Opening Prayer while greeting
them some words of welcome. They were also welcomed by
Msgr. Delgado together with our MKK Leaders. After some
introduction and a short message about our Parish, we
sat with them for some sharing about our MKK activities.
We presented to them the different programs of the PSAM
Ministry; the ALS program which was handed to the RMI
Sisters from the Parish, Scholarship from the Elementary,
High School and College; the Medical/Dental Mission every

Kabay ngapaagi sini nga kahiwatan magtubo unta ang
pagtuo kag magbalik sa pag-alagad sa Diyos ang tagsa-tagsa.

They told us that only eight percent of catholics from
their places attend the Sunday Masses unlike here that sixty
percent of our parishioners are attending the nine masses
we have on Sundays and we have anticipated Youth mass
every Saturday at 5:30 P.M. It is very hard for them to look
for church volunteers to be trained as leaders especially the
youth, for they are fond of sports and other activities but
not on the church activities. They do not have MKKs yet in
Germany.
We ended our sharing with a merienda prepared by the
Parish. They were hapy for their experiences here. Our Lady
of Candelaria, pray for us.

A Prayer for Priests
O Jesus, our great High Priest, hear our humble
prayers on behalf of your priests. Give them a deep
faith, a bright and firm hope and a burning love which
will ever increase in the course of their priestly life.
In their loneliness, comfort them. In their
sorrows, strengthen them. In their frustrations, point
out to them that it is through suffering that the soul
is purified, and show them that they are needed by
the Church, needed by the souls, needed for the work
of redemption.
O loving Mother Mary, Mother of Priests, take to
your heart your sons who are close to
you because of their priestly ordination, and
because of the power which they have received to
carry on the work of Christ in a world which needs
them so much.
Be their comfort, their joy, their strength, and
especially help them to live and to defend the ideals
