SAC’s Call to Action!
Vision
An  apparel,  footwear  and  home  tex@les  industry  that  produces  no  unnecessary
environmental  harm  and  has  a  posi@ve  impact  on  the  people  and  communi@es
associated  with  its  ac@vi@es.
Mission
The  Sustainable  Apparel  Coali@on  was  founded  by  a  group  of  sustainability  leaders  from
global  apparel  and  footwear  companies  who  recognize  that  addressing  our  industry’s
current  social  and  environmental  challenges  are  both  a  business  impera@ve  and  an
opportunity.  Through  mul@-‐stakeholder  engagement,  the  Coali@on  seeks  to  lead  the
industry  toward  a  shared  vision  of  sustainability  built  upon  a  common  approach  for
measuring  and  evalua@ng  apparel  and  footwear  product  sustainability  performance  that
will  spotlight  priori@es  for  ac@on  and  opportuni@es  for  technological  innova@on.

Focus
The  development  and  use  of  the  Higg  Index:  a  suite  of  tools  designed  to  measure  the
sustainability  impacts  of  apparel,  footwear  and  home  tex@les  products.
