Borobudur Temple
According to Mark, Borobudur temple is one of Indonesian National Park,
histories come on it. It is one of the largest Buddhist temple in the world that
was built in 800's. During that time, there is competition between the Hindus
and the Buddhas. So basically,Borobudur is kind of masterpiece of Buddha in
the other hand, Prambanan is the masterpiece of Hindu. The competition
indeed when the daughter and the son of each kingdom married, it caused an
earthquake and a lot of volcanic eruption which forced the people to moved
away from the area and left their temples. During that time they were covered
up and in early 800's, a British man discovered the temple and began the
restoration process, and the dutch came to co-works. In 1960s they began
another restoration project where they did a lot more work to make sure it does
not collapse again. The first stair is the room for meditation, a place for people
to come and learn the story and the teaches of Buddha. There are 9 level of
Borobudur temple, from each level we can go around the circle, and read the
story and picture on the wall. There are 500 statues of Buddha and half of
them do not have a head because some broke over the time, most of them had
been stolen, and some had been recovered from europe. The begining of
history teaches the basic teaching of karma. Mark showed the first picture on
the wall tells about the former life where the people did good to other people
and the other side is the future where they received higher social status and
two children which symbolize great blessing because of their kindness in their
past. And in the opposite side, the picture showed how the people did the bad
things to other and as the result the received the ugly faces because they did
not received blessing in the next life, that is karma. In the top of the temple,
explain about some parts of the Buddhism, and the symbols of it. We can see
the whole temple from the bottom, there are alot of visitor in Borrobudur
temple. There is a market area around the Borrobudur temple that sell various
food and another products.
