Greetings my friends,
Fall is fully on us now. Halloween is over
and the time for an infused Thanksgiving
is coming up, and this our 50th issue of
Edibles! We’re celebrating by focusing
on Visionaries, in art, technology,
entertainment and cannabis of course.
There’s features on Elon Musk, Kristen
Bell, Las Vegas, Malaysia and more. The
painting of Elon by artist Richard Bell on
the front cover was debuted at the Los
Angeles Comic Con this year where we
had an Edibles Magazine booth and panel
for the second year in a row. We were very
honored to be invited back and really want
to thank everyone who dropped by our
booth to say hi or came to our Cannabis
and Pop Culture panel featuring Rob
Van Dam and ChaCha Vavoom (of the
Edibles Magazine™ Issue 50

420Nurses). It was an amazing time and
we saw the most creative costumes you
could ever imagine. We also went to Utah
Cann which was a bit of a culture shock
but we did meet some wonderful people
there as well and were able to breathe
some incredibly clean mountain air for a
few days.
Here in Los Angeles we continue to wait
to hear about the decisions on licensing
and aren’t sure how long it will be before
those companies who’ve applied will be
able to be operational and doing business.
By the time you read this, voting time will
be over so I wonder what will happen.
The Fran Drescher Master Class Health
Summit we attended in downtown Los
Angeles was illuminating. It was a little
like listening to Doomsday prophets but
everyone was optimistic enough that we
were left feeling hopeful but cautious. I’m
somewhat terrified of Gluten and Fluoride
now and have switched to an all natural
citrus toothpaste and a completely
wheat-free diet. Fran was really sweet
and it was great seeing her flourishing
in her element and doing work she’s so
passionate about. November means it
time for MJ Biz Con in Las Vegas and
that’s always a good time.

our website. Tesla is also the stock we’ve
highlighted in the Stocked Pots and Pot
Stocks section since it gained so much
attention after Elon’s blunt smoking

of recipes, they’re gluten-free this month,

Our 50th Issue!
This issue’s pot stock isn’t really
a cannabis stock, moreover that
Tesla’s CEO was seen smoking
weed online. August 7th, then
CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk,
announced he was taking Tesla
private, on Twitter, at $420 a
share. We thought it a bit ironic
he chose that number, and the
stock closed at a 6 months high
at $379 a share. Exactly a month
later on September 7th, Elon
Musk smoked a blunt on the
Joe Rogan Experience podcast,
live streamed for the world on
Youtube. The stock price fell to
$263 its lowest recorded low
since April.
Thank you for

With Tesla having accomplished
its original mission of making
electric vehicles the norm and
widely accepted as cool or elite,
it’s future projections of earnings
with their electric trucks show
great promise.
With the leaps and bounds Tesla
has made since it’s start, we
think Tesla's on track to be the
next Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A
- a Warren Buffet Company),
which is trading at $323,935.00
per share, as of November 2018),
especially since Elon Musk
announced he has reduced his
workweeks from 120 hour to 90
hours a week.

We Present a South African
Butternut Squash Soup Recipe
Ingredients:
7 cups butternut squash
2 large brown onions,
finely chopped
3 small garlic cloves, finely
chopped or 1 elephant

2 ½ cup chicken stock
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 1/16 cup water
3 small strong green chilies
or 1 large jalapeno, no pips,
finely chopped
1 tablespoon melted
canna butter
1 1/16 cup fresh pouring cream
Directions:
Peel and pip the butternuts, and
cut it into about 5cm square
chunks. Peel and chop the onions
quite finely. Chop the garlic very
finely, or push through a garlic
press. Halve the Jalapeno pepper
or green chillies and scrape out
all the pips. Chop the green
flesh very finely. Put the onions,
garlic and chillies into the melted
canna butter in a saucepan on a
moderate heat and cook until the
onions are soft and transparent.
Add the lemon juice and chicken
stock and stir until well mixed.

Add the water and the cubes
of butternut, and simmer until
the soup is thick and all the
ingredients are well blended
together, about 1 hour. Liquidise
with a food processor. Serve hot.
Swirl a tablespoon or two of fresh
cream into the centre of each
bowl of soup just before serving.

My uncle, Raymond Howell, was
the artist of the family. I remember
helping him set up at shows, going to
gallery events, and visiting his work in
museums. At this point in my life, I never
even considered drawing let alone
painting a picture. My creative outlet
was music. I started playing piano at
the age of three by ear. By the time I
was in high school, I was playing for
different groups and in jazz bands. I took
piano lessons on and off throughout

complete some credits. I excelled in every
aspect of the class except for watercolor. I
even started doing charcoal portraits of other
classmates outside of class. Whenever I had
free time, or a break between classes, I would
continue to draw in charcoal. But I still didn’t
take drawing as seriously as my coursework.
While looking into which medical schools I
might want to attend, I found out quickly that
the cost was absolutely prohibitive. I still had to
make a living, so I segued into IT work.

making a ridiculous amount of money, bought
a fancy sports car, and was having the time of
my life. I had to work in the bay area for about
a year. During that time I would spend the
evenings with my uncle Raymond painting. He
did an excellent job at mentoring me.
My life changed abruptly on November 10, 2002,
when I rolled my fancy sports car off a freeway
ramp onto a transition road, and hitting a big
rig before rolling to a stop. I knew right away
that I had broken my neck. I was rushed to USC
hospital, flatlined twice, and was put on life-
support for three months. They successfully
replaced my cervical 6 vertebrate during
surgery. After three months, I was transferred
to Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Center
in Downey California. I really couldn’t move
anything so my rehab was more social and
educational. I was released to a new apartment
with my wife three months later. Together we
in excruciating pain. I was terrified of
quitting that meditation. I found that
Cannabis would replace everything
I was on. Now, I smoke flower, use a
CBD tincture, and eat edibles at night.
That is the winning combination for me.
Over the years I became very active in
the disabled community. I even founded
a nonprofit with a few buddies of mine
called the Pushrim Foundation. We
did a series of podcasts interviewing
different individuals in the community
that were doing extraordinary things
and medical professionals .
Rancho Los Amigos has an annual
art show. A friend of mine asked me
to attend. I really didn’t want to go
because I didn’t want to see any work
done by disabled people. I figured
it would be an applause festival for
mediocre work. Boy was I wrong. That
show was one of the best I had seen.
The art was absolutely incredible. That
night, my friend told me he wanted to
see my work in the next show.
That certainly lit a fire under my ass.
I went out and bought a bunch of
painting supplies. Then I had to figure
out how to use them. Not having any
hand dexterity was an issue. I quickly
learned that shoving the brush into
my wheelchair gloves would work
the same as if I had working hands.
That first show was liberating. From
there I met other artists outside of the
community who came to appreciate
my work. They would tell me about
other art shows in the area. I eventually
applied for the Beverly Hills Art Show
and got in. My third time attending that
show, I won 3rd place in the painting

category.

Trump Administration Admits to a
“Secret” Cannabis Committee...

Negative Statistics About Cannabis

In late August, BuzzFeed News
reported that The White House has
secretly amassed a committee
of federal agencies from across
the government to combat public
support for cannabis and cast state
legalization measures in a negative
light, while attempting to portray
the drug as a national threat. The
interviews with agency staff and
procured documents obtained were
conducted by BuzzFeed News.
The Marijuana Policy Coordination
Committee, as it’s named in White
Housememosandemails,instructed
14 federal agencies and the Drug
Enforcement Administration to
submit “data demonstrating the
most significant negative trends”
about marijuana and the “threats” it
poses to the country.
Ironically, in one particular memo,
the committee complained that
the narrative around cannabis is
unfairly biased in favor of the drug.
As the committee’s records show,

The Marijuana Policy Coordination
Committee’s hardline agenda
and deep bench suggest an
extraordinarily far-reaching effort
to reverse public attitudes and
scrutinize the states with cannabis
laws. Its reports are to be used in a
briefing for Trump “on marijuana
threats.”
“There is an urgent need to message
the facts about the negative impacts
of marijuana.”
“Staff believe that if the administration
is to turn the tide on increasing
marijuana use there is an urgent
need to message the facts about
the negative impacts of marijuana
use, production, and trafficking on
national health, safety, and security,”
says the meeting summary.
The White House declined to
discuss the committee's process,

effort to remain consistent with the
president's agenda.
Lindsay Walters, Deputy White House
Press Secretary, told BuzzFeed
News, “The Trump Administration’s
policy coordination process is an
internal, deliberative process to
craft the President’s policies on a
number of important issues facing
the American people, and ensure
consistency with the President’s
agenda."
All documents indicate that
officials are seeking data that
show marijuana consumption or
legalization laws, which have been
approved in eight states, do not serve
any public benefit or do a better job
of reducing drug abuse.
The committee met on July 27 with
many of the largest agencies in the
federal government, including the
departments of Justice, Homeland
Security, Health and Human
Services, and State. The meeting was
coordinated by White House Office of
National Drug Control Policy.
An unclassified summary of the
meeting, obtained by BuzzFeed
News, says the memo is
“predecisional and requires a close
hold.” It also says the notes were not
to be distributed externally.

South Park: 'Tegridy Farms Review

The recent South Park episode,
“Tegridy’ Farms” the 4th ep in
season 22, is one of the most
accurate depictions of the regulated
cannabis industry I’ve ever watched
on television. I caught the show in
a hotel in Utah while there for a
conference and it was shown at the
end of a block of South Park so I didn’t
even realize it was brand new at the
time. Having just visited an organic,
sungrown cannabis farm run by a
small family in Colorado, Pharm Aid
Pharms, I was particularly receptive
to Stan’s dad Randy Marsh’s new
business. After getting fed up with
the big city problems of living in the
small mountain town of South Park,
Randy immediately moves the family
to an all natural cannabis and hemp
farm deep in the Rocky mountains.
‘Tegridy Farms is what he names
it and he quickly gets busy farming
hemp and unique and potent strains
of cannabis as well as making and
wearing hemp clothing and feeding
the family hemp cereal with hemp
milk and hemp oil and vinegar
bruschetta with some hemp-seed
tabouli. He creates a special new
hemp fiber stocking hat for his son
that plays the Spin Doctors whenever
you wear it and begins speaking
in an accent that sounds like the

too. Some people love to vape and
I’m a fan myself, as long as it’s safe,
clean, tested and organic product

know what the long term effects are

at its simplest, vaping shouldn’t be

We were somewhere on the edge of
Main Street near the Las Vegas Paiute
Tribal Smoke Shop when we started
noticing the signs. NuWu Cannabis
Marketplace was getting closer and
we were going there to drop off mag-
azines. It turns out, NuWu Cannabis
Marketplace is the largest cannabis
dispensary in the world at 16,000 sq
ft and it’s open 24 hours a day. All you
need to shop there is a valid state ID,
driver’s license or passport proving
you’re at least 21 years old and you’re
all good. And to top it off there’s a drive
thru and the drive thru runs 24 hours
a day, 7 days a week as well. Yes you
read that correctly, a drive thru win-
dow for cannabis. So far there are
only a handful of legal cannabis drive
through windows in the world. In ad-
dition to NuWu there’s also Tumble-
weed in Parachute, Colorado and Joint
Rivers in Auburn, Washington, but
NuWu is the the only one that never
sleeps and stays open all night.
After dropping off the latest issue in-
side the shop, we drove around the

building following the signs and very
easily found the drive thru. The atten-
dant asked if we’d placed an online
order, which she explained they prefer

We told her we hadn’t and that our
visit was pretty spontaneous so we’d

podcast and radio show hosted by
stand-up comedian Marc Maron,
recently featured actress Kristen
Bell as a guest where she spoke
openly on the show about her
cannabis use and her husband Dax
Shepard’s sobriety. “I like my vape
pen quite a bit and I smoke around
my husband. It doesn’t seem to
bother him… Weed rules.” She
made it clear that she’s not an all-
daywakeandbaker,mostlybecause
she’s way too busy being a mom to
stay high all day. She told Maron,
“Once a week, if I am exhausted
and we are about to sit down and
watch ’60 Minutes,' why not?”
Kristen Bell is best known for
playing teenage television detective
Veronica Mars as well as Princess
Anna of Arendelle in the animated
movie “Frozen”. She earned some
solid stoner street cred when she

Some Twitter users seemed to
have a major problem with Bell
admitting she uses cannabis at
home, with her children in the
house and in front of a spouse who
has been in recovery for 14 years,
calling her “inconsiderate”. One
tweeter wrote: “Give up the weed
for your kids sake.”, while another
tweeted, “Oh man I love her so much
but drugs, really?”. It’s actually
much more toned down behavior
than her character in the “Bad
Moms” movie series, where she
openly gets crazy wild drunk with
her friends at the mall on a school
night. It feels like people expect
“moms” to relax with red wine and
prescription pills but not cannabis
and that seems very unfair. The
stigma attached to cannabis has
been hanging over our heads for
far too long. If Kristen Bell, who
is a relatively family friendly and
mainstream tv and movie star
wants to hit a vape pen once a week
while watching 60 Minutes, the
world really should support her,
or at the very least leave her alone.
She’s a popular Disney Princess
and role model who also holds
her own in raunchy comedies
alongside guys like Jonah Hill and
Jason Segel and still comes across
as a very cool person and a great
parent to two daughters. She’s
even currently starring in the award
winning show, “The Good Place”
alongside Ted Danson. If Kristen’s
husband Dax Shepard supports
her cannabis use after he’s had
14 years of sober living, who is
anyone else to judge? You’re right

FDA Says: CBD

Should Not Be
a Controlled
Substance

The Federal Drug Administration has recently released a
27-page memo stating that CBD should not be a controlled
substance but treaties require it.
The FDA has clearly said that cannabidiol, or CBD, should not
be listed as a controlled substance but there are international
treaties that require the US to regard it as such.
Dr. Brett Giroir, assistant secretary for the US Health and
Human Services Department tells us that "CBD has negligible
potential for abuse", according to recent reporting in Marijuana
Business Daily. While THC remains a Schedule One drug,
Giroir states that CBD "doesn't even meet the standards for
a Schedule Five drug", which is the least restricted class. In
other words, almost like over the counter. He does point out
that if those treaties were changed, then Congressional action
could be taken right away to change CBD's status. It is still
regarded as a cannabis extract.
Giroir's comments were contained in a letter to the DEA about
how to handle the classification of CBD. It has always been
included in Class One but last May the DEA announced that if a
product had no more than 0.1% THC, then it could be classified
as a Schedule Five. A product testing more than that remains
on Schedule One.The letter was only recently made public.
However they have so far only extended that re-classification
to one synthetic version called Epidiolex. It is manufactured by
a London-based operation called GW Pharmaceuticals.
Many critics are saying this is still a glacially slow response to
acceptance of both CBD and THC use in society. It could also
be argued that the government and big business want to be
financially in on anything being legally sold. If one looks behind
the Controlled Substance Act, there is no mention of CBD.
Therefore, is it even under the purview of the FDA to begin
with? A recent story in the Portland Mercury paints a confusing
picture of the dilemma, stating that "the FDA says CBD oil is a
new drug while in the same breath saying it can't be sold either
as a drug or a health supplement. What on earth?"
The Hemp Industries Association has recently sent a letter
to the FDA saying the use of hemp as a food and dietary
supplement has been used for ages, long before someone at
the FDA called it a "new drug".
In a practical note, use of the CBD compound itself won't
result in a failed drug test but sometimes it can contain trace
amounts of THC and that could, in some cases register in a
drug test. Word to the wise.
The solution to moving the use and acceptance of CBD, THC
and related products forward lies with Congressional action.
People who want to advance that agenda should focus
efforts there.

He’s an event planner, wedding planner,
and a florist extraordinaire. Jamie
Lee McCormick’s mission is merge
cannabis with weddings and floral
arrangements. He says, “It’s a plant.
Flowers on Flowers. I’ve always had a
green thumb.”
Jamie’s passion and love for flowers
was inherited by his mother, Sharon,
who was a florist and inherited her
flower store from Jamie’s grandfather.
Jamie spent his jovial childhood
summers galavanting at the flower
shop in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
“It was always in the family,” Jamie said.
His mother had a heart condition
causing her to sell the flower shop and in
2009 Jamie’s mother tragically passed
away at the young age of 54. A year later,
the bright lights of tinsel town drew him
in. Once in Hollywood pursuing his Film
and Television industry dreams, Jamie
worked at a flower shop his boyfriend
at the time’s mother owned, while also
waiting tables.
Jamie launched The Flower Daddy
originally as just an instagram page
where he could showcase the floral
arrangements he was creating as a
hobby for his friends as favors.

Michigan House Approves
Industrial Hemp Bills

The Michigan House of
Representatives just took a
big step forward in expanding
cultivation and sale of industrial
hemp in their state by passing
three new pieces of legislation.
Each one must still be approved
by the Michigan Senate
before going to the governor.
However the house votes were
overwhelmingly in favor. Here's
how the three bills break
down, according to The Tenth
Amendment Center.
House Bill 6331 (HB6331)
was introduced by Rep. Steve
Johnson. It's purpose was to
clarify the definition of industrial
hemp. It passed October 4th,
106 to 0.
The other two bills HB6330
and HB6380 were introduced
by Rep. Dan Lauwers. HB6330
will create a licensing program
for industrial hemp growers
and those who will process and
handle it. It allows a person to
handle, process, broker and
market, but only if they are

licensed under this act. The bill
goes on to further define terms
like "broker" and "marketing"
and how they apply. Bill
HB6380 establishes that
industrial hemp is not included
in the definition of marijuana. It
would also position Michigan's
Department of Agriculture and

Rural Development (MOARD)
to establish "standards,
procedures and requirements
for the sale of industrial hemp
from a provisional center, to a
registered, qualified patient".
Both of those bills passed
October 18th by 105 to 1.
All three bills were drafted in
a manner to keep Michigan
compliant on the federal level
but it does open the door for the
state to eventually nullify the
prohibition of the hemp plant.
States that legalize industrial
hemp, usually expand their
program once successfully
established.
Back in January 2015,
Michigan governor Rick Snyder
signed public acts 547 and
548 2014 which removed the
term "industrial hemp" from
the state's legal definition
of marijuana and more
importantly authorized hemp
research by Michigan's Ag
group (MOARD) and Michigan

Universities. This really opened
the door to research this plant
and it's uses. Michigan is one
of ten states that currently have
similar laws in place.
Hemp cultivation goes back
to the Puritans who brought
it to America as a source for
fiber. Notably both George
Washington and Thomas
Jefferson grew hemp for paper.
Hemp became villainized as a
result of the 1937 Marihuana
Tax Act and the ensuing scare
tactics. Today modern plant
breeding has determined that
hemp is cannabis with no more
than 0.3% THC while medical
cannabis can be 5-30% THC.
Hemp does not produce the
psychoactive effects and has no
basis for abuse.
In 2005 a Congressional Service
report stated the US was the
only developed nation that had
not developed an industrial
hemp crop for economic uses.
Experts suggest there is a $600
million dollar annual market
for hemp products annually.
They also state there are more
than 25,000 uses for industrial
hemp.
Michigan's House has recognized
this potential and taken a big
step ahead in bringing the
industrial hemp industry to
their state.

the month of October
2018. I have chopped
plants down, I have bucked
plants into totes, trimmed
plants, and I have certainly
sampled many of them. For
someone as passionate
about cannabis as I am
this place is paradise…
I am in a tent camping out
about 150 yards above the
main section of the farm,
where there are several
hoop tents full of various
strains. Woven within the
tents are perfectly grown
outdoor specimens of
cannabis. Blackberry Paka
to Larry OG and Mother’s
Milk. They are growing
several amazing flowers
here each one as uniquely
special as the last. The
plants sit in a valley
soaking up the sun and all
the nutrients this carefully
managed biosphere has
created. Each morning
when I ride the four wheeler
down from my campsite,
I am immediately struck
with the powerful smell of
expertly grown cannabis. I
love coffee, but this smell
is the next best thing. For
a veteran who has been
through the things I have
this place does wonders
for me. Having a farm like
this for veterans to come
and heal is my ultimate
goal. I want to share the
feelings that everyone who
works and lives at this farm
wakes up with. The sense
that cannabis is there to
help us. Always. And if we
help ourselves we can help
others.

Henry Golding plays handsome and charming, so believably

“banana,” a term used in the film to reference her as “yellow

According to a new Gallup Poll, 66% of Americans
now support legalizing cannabis, a new high in
Gallup's trend tracking cannabis support over
nearly half a century. The latest figure marks the
third consecutive year that support on the measure
has increased and established a new record.

idea when Gallup first polled Americans in 1969,
just 12% at that time said it should be made legal.
Support grew in the 1970s but stagnated in the 20%
range until the new millennium, when momentum
for legalization picked up again. Since 2000, support
for legalizing cannabis has trended steeply upward,
reaching majority support for the first time in 2013,
one year after Colorado and Washington voters
legalized recreational use of cannabis.

Views that cannabis should be legalized have also
reached new peaks this year among Democrats
(75%) and independents (71%). Democrats reached
majority-level support for legalization in 2009, and
independents did so in 2010.
An Aging Population
Among Americans aged 55 and older, views that
cannabis should be legalized now surpass the
majority level, with 59% support, up 50% from
last year.

Meanwhile, solid majorities of younger adults have

supported legalization for several years. Support
is strongest among adults aged 18 to 34, at 78%,
while nearly two in three adults aged 35 to 54 (65%)
approve of legalizing cannabis.

The October 1st-10th Gallup poll was conducted

right before Canada enacted their legalization,
becoming the second country in the world to
legalize the recreational use of cannabis.

Support for legalization in the U.S. has continued to

grow, even as Attorney General Jeff Sessions has
pledged to crack down on cannabis at the federal
level. But Sessions' own department has done little
to actually carry out his demonstrated opposition
to legal marijuana, and states have continued to
legalize it since Sessions took on his role. Moreover,
President Donald Trump undermined his attorney
general's pledged mission over the summer when
he indicated he would likely support a bill to allow
states to determine their own cannabis policies.

In 2009 and 2010, prior to any state legalizing
cannabis, support for legalization reached the
majority level in only one U.S. region, the West, at
56%. The most dramatic change in attitudes about
legalization are recent. As of 2017 and 2018, all
regions now favor cannabis legalization with the
West, South, and MidWest tied at 65% approval, and
the East now leading approval at 67%.

While the vast majority of the
14 federal agencies declined to
comment, however not a single
department including the DEA, or
the White House denied the cannabis
committee’s existence.
While we’re not surprised at these
skewed one-sided data collecting
practices, the committee’s agenda
betrays Trump’s pledges to protect
states from federal intervention.
The White House made a statement
last year that it expected “greater
enforcement” of cannabis in states
where it’s legal. President Trump
has since suggested he'd support
legislation to allow states to legalize
cannabis untouched by the Justice
Department. The move seemed to
jab at Attorney General Jeff Sessions,
who has relentlessly threatened a
cannabis crackdown. As leader of the
Justice Department, Jeff Sessions
has recited 1980s-style rhetoric
about “saying no to marijuana.”
