The Physical Appearance Comparison Scale (PACS) adopted
from “The Development and Validation of the Physical Appearance Scale” (Lauren M. Schaefer, 2013) is the instrument that will be utilized for measuring the level of self-comparison of the respondents. In this case, respondents will be asked on how often they felt or compare in a certain way.
PACS is consisted of 40 questions. The questions in this
scale ask the respondents thinking about how they generally compare theirselves to others. Sample items in PACS are “When I’m out in public I compare my physical appearance to the appearance of others” and “When I’m eating in a restaurant, I compare my weight to the weight of others”. The questionnaires are comprised of 40 statements scored by 5- point Likert –Agreement Scale.
Presented below is the Likert interval used to score the
questionnaires:
5 – 0.9 Never
4 – 1.9 Seldom
3 – 2.9 Sometimes
2 – 3.9 Often
1 – 4.9 Always

statement such as “It is important for me to look athletic” and “I feel pressure from the media to decrease my level of body fat”. Presented below is the Likert interval used to score the questionnaires:
