Coiled Tubing
Accelerator
Dual Action – Flow Thro
Rev.0 TM – 188.1 – Accelerator Dual Action Flow Thro
INTRODUCTION
The PCE Coil Tubing Dual Action Accelerator is used in conjunction with the PCE Coil Tubing
Dual Action Hydraulic Jar, its purpose being to provide the necessary even push and pull and
acceleration for the Coil Tubing Dual Action Hydraulic Jar to operate efficiently. This is achieved
by storing upward or downward energy in the compression spring that will impart a predictable
upward or downward blow.
Full ‘pump through’ capability of the Accelerator is compatible with the PCE Coil Tubing
Hydraulic Jar.
DESIGN BENEFITS
MAINTENANCE
The PCE Coiled Tubing Accelerator has been designed to give long and reliable service.
However, it is strongly recommended that the tool is stripped and thoroughly cleaned after use
to remove any deposits that may interfere with its operation.
Inspect all parts for wear and replace all seals, backups and any worn or damaged parts.
This is particularly important when the tool has been in a corrosive environment.

DIS-ASSEMBLY
Warning
Under normal operating conditions the coil spring is compressed with a force of approx.
200 lbs.
4. Break-out Lower Mandrel (7) from Spring Mandrel (5). Warning this will release the force
in the Coil Spring (12) , which is under compression.
5. The Thrust Washers (9) and Coil Spring (12) can now be removed.
6. Remove the Grub Screw (11) and break-out the Top Sub (1) and Spring Mandrel (5) from
the Upper Mandrel (2)
1. Load all ‘O’ rings and backups as per Product Data Sheet and Assembly Drawing.
2. Feed Upper Mandrel (2) through Spring Retainer (3) and make-up to Top Sub (1) and
secure with Grub Screw (11).
3. Make-up Spring Mandrel (5) to Spring Retainer (2). Feed Thrust Washer (9) and Coil Spring
(12) over Spring Mandrel (5)
4. Make-up Body Lower (6) to Body Upper (4) by approx. 3 threads. Install Thrust Washer (9)
into Body Upper (4).
5. Feed Body Upper (4) over Coil Spring (12) and make-up, by approx 1 inch to Spring
Retainer (3).
Force will be required as the spring is being compressed.
6. Insert Lower Mandrel through Body Lower (6) and make-up to Spring Mandrel (5) as far as
possible by hand.
7. Back-off and remove Body Lower (6) from Body Upper (4)
8. Make-up Lower Mandrel (7) through Spring Mandrel (5) and Upper Mandrel (2) to Top Sub
(1).
