BENCHMARKING AND OUTSOURCING SHORT EXAM

Instructions: You have to choose one type of industry and assume that you
will establish an enterprise for that sector (a non-existent one). For this choice
you will have to develop the following:

Benchmarking

You have to choose local (Guatemalan) and international competitors (two

or three) in order to apply benchmarking making reference to them.

Likewise, you have to describe every single benchmarking type (strategical,

internal, external, international, performance, etc.) and you will indicate
which of them are applicable according to your criterion (making a
justification of why they apply).

Outsourcing

From all the functions or departments that you are going to designate to the
company, indicate and explain in which areas you should outsource. This will
vary according to the nature of the enterprise that you have chosen.

Working on a Construction Site
Did you know that over 100,000 people are employed in construction in Ireland and, as
you read this, the figure is rising.

Some points to note!

• Safety equipment and helmets do prevent injury and death

• The first week on site is the most dangerous
• Accidents are more frequent at the end of the day
• Small building jobs are the most risky
• Trainers and runners are not suitable footwear on site
