The Wheel Of The Year is our oldest calendar, according to which we are also
synchronized, it is the natural calendar according to which we live ... or better said: should
live.
12 Months, 4 Seasons, 8 Wheel Of The Year Festivals - four Sun Festivals and four of which are
Moon Festivals: these are the spokes in the Wheel Of The Year that has rotated unchanged since
infinite times and on which all our Cultures have built their Festivities, Cults and Rituals.
Both in the energetic-spiritual sense as well as the regulations concerning
the communal organization of the community.
The Wheel of the Year is seen to begin at Samhain, which is also known as Halloween
or All Hallows Eve.
This is the Celtic New Year, when the veil between the worlds of Life and death stands open.

The Juniper has a similarly important meaning in our Culture as the holy Elder.
He is also inhabited by a good-natured Earth God who is well-disposed towards man.
Juniper is probably one of the oldest smudging Plants, as his smoke has a germicidal and disinfecting effect
and promotes contact with Ancestors.
Like the Yew [Taxus baccata], the Juniper belongs to the Trees that are directly connected to death.
He is still planted preferentially in cemeteries today.
However, his power does not lead into the 'dark' Otherworld, but causes the exact reversal - it leads or
accompanies the deceased souls back into the world of the living.
The Plant's earlier nicknames also reveal that the Juniper has been attributed a Life-sustaining power.
That's how it was called Quickholder, Queckholder, Weckholder - it was quite the 'Wach-halter' (Alert-
keeper -- from keeping awake, german WACH = Wacholder).
Juniper had special meaning for our Ancestors, because he possesses strong germicidal and repelling
qualities and was therefore a very good protector against illness.
Thus it was always an essential aid at times of increased risk of infection, especially of course at the time of
the plague.
In general, Juniper was one of the Plants whose Healing powers were highly appreciated.
the saying
'You should take your hat off before Elderberry, kneel down from Juniper' is a very clear indication that
both Trees enjoyed an uncanny reputation and were used in many different ways for Healing purposes.
This old proverb says that the Juniper was as Holy a tree as the Elder.
Both Plants have a very high Healing and protective effect, but were also revered as magical Plants.
Juniper was probably one of the very first smudging Plants, since it was soon noticed how well he was
suitable for the expulsion of germs.
Even hospitals were smudged with Juniper and many a grandfather or a Herbalist grandmother still know
that Juniper should be used for smudging if one wants to keep evil, illness and negative energies at bay.
Juniper belongs in January for me absolutely in the incense.
He helps me to keep my big house with all my family as germ-free as possible during the flu season.
But it also helps me with his very strong protective effect.
I usually feel the energies in January still very exhausting.
The Twelve Nights A fter Christmas have stirred up a lot of things that now need to be cleaned up and
arranged.
the dried Berries, which we know mainly as a kitchen spice, have the following effects
germicidal
strengthening the immune system
circulatory
blood-purifying
dehydrating
metabolically stimulating
effects of smudging
cleansing because it disinfects and kills germs
offers protection - against evil spirits
clarifies the aura
promotes contact with the earth and Ancestors
eliminates negative energies and bad thoughts
has a very high protective effect
invigorating, positive, enlightening
The water-driving effect of Juniper is caused by an irritation on the tissue of the kidneys.
It should be prevented excessive use in renal bladder disease and thereby a possible irritation of the kidney
tissue.
Opinions about the harmful effect on the kidney are divided.
Exalted scientists suspect that for over 100 Years the kidney-damaging effect has been transferred from
author to author without newer, more detailed scientific findings.
This criticism becomes plausible when one considers that the results about kidney damage 150 Years ago
were achieved with the 1000-fold (one thousandfold) dose, which is supplied to the body by the
preparation of Tea.
Then, the investigations were carried out with up to 25grams (!) of essential oil, a Juniper Tea preparation
contains just a maximum of 25milligrams - this corresponds to a quantity of about 15 Berries.
A Tea mixture contains correspondingly less essential oil.
From this point of view, the treatment with Juniper Berries recommended by Pastor Kneipp does not seem to
be overdosed.
This begins with chewing one Berry 3 times a Day and increasing this to 20 Berries 3 times a Day, then
reducing it again in descending order to 1 Berry 3 times a Day.
The recommended daily dose of 20 to 100mg of essential oil is not exceeded during this treatment if the 60
(3 x 20) Juniper Berries (very likely) do not weigh more than 5 grams at a content of 2%.
Caution is nevertheless advisable during pregnancy or in the case of inflammatory forms of kidney disease.
Do not take Juniper or avoid its prolonged use or overdose due to possible side effects.
2. Mix 100grams of Juniper Berries with 250ml of grain, let stand for 10 Days to three Weeks and strain -
this essence is taken drop by drop and is good for the stomach and intestines.
