GENERAL RULES

1. The Education Week 2015 is an activity sponsored by the JMAFTE and will only
be participated by the Education program students.
2. The Education Week 2015 hosts an overall computation of scores per year level.
Every contest has corresponding points that will be included in the computation.
The following are the scores given to the winners of the varied events of the
Education Week 2015:
1st Place ------------------------------------------------------------ 20 points
2nd Place ----------------------------------------------------------- 15 points
3rd Place ----------------------------------------------------------- 10 points
4th Place ----------------------------------------------------------- 5 points
3. Attendance of the events must strictly be adhered. Participation and attendance
are duly checked by the organizers and will thoroughly reflect to the signing of
clearance in the second semester of the school year 2014-2015. (The organizers will
ask the proper documents for those who seek to be excused of the events.)
4. Violations and deductions are indicated in every contest.
5. Practicing OUTSIDE of the school is STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

BOOTH DISPLAY
GENERAL MECHANICS:

1. The booth display is a group contest by course major.


2. The participants involved must be bona fide college students officially representing the
Education program in the second semester of the school year 2014-2015.
3. The booth display must be in relevance with the theme given by the committee.
4. Materials for the booth are emphasized to be economical.
5. The booth shall have at least 3 people to cater and entertain guests.
6. To entertain guests, the usage of English as the medium of communication is highly
encouraged (exempting the Filipino Majors).
7. Leaving the booth open and unclean will mean a deduction of two (2) points from the
overall score.
8. Any delinquency inside the booth will equate a deduction of three (3) points from the
overall score.
9. Judging shall be made through “Ranking System”.
10. In case of a tie, the Board of Judges shall convene and break the tie through point
system.
11. The Chairperson of the Board of judges of the Emcee shall proclaim or announce the
winner.
12. The decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable.
13. Failure to adhere to the rules shall mean automatic disqualification.

YELL PRESENTATION
General Mechanics:

1. Each year level of the Education Program shall prepare a yell presentation.
2. Each year level presentation shall consist of 40-50 participants, coming from the same
year level, with at least 10 males and 20 females.
3. The participants must be officially enrolled in St. Mary’s College of Tagum on this 2nd
semester, S.Y. 2014-2015.
4. Each year level will be given 2-3 minutes to present their yells. The time starts at the first
yell, dance movement, or music, whichever comes first. The time ends when all
participants vacate the performance area.
5. Each presentation must include a 1 – 2 minutes cheer/yell that solely describes their
respective year level. Yells that describe the other year levels are not allowed. Insulting
words, cursing, and bad languages are strictly prohibited.
6. Routines shall be mostly dances, jumps, cheer motions and formations. Dangerous
stunts are not allowed.
7. Props that can endanger the people inside the gym are not allowed. All the props to be
used shall be removed from the floor after the presentation.
8. JMAFTE T-shirt shall be worn during the presentation.
9. Explicit vulgarity in music, dance steps, and costumes are strictly prohibited.
10. The participants must be inside the gym 30 minutes before the start of the contest.
11. The following are the scores to be given on the winners for the overall computation of
per year level scores.
1st place = 20 points
2nd place = 15 points
3rd place = 10 points
4th place = 5 points
12. A deduction of points or disqualifications shall be done, depending on the violation
done against the set mechanics.
13. The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.

SMART TALKING
GENERAL MECHANICS:

1. The participants must be bona fide students of St. Mary’s College in the second semester of
the school year 2014-2015.
2. The participants must never have won in extemporaneous speaking contests before be it
local, national or international.
3. There will be two (2) participants per YLO. The participants must be English and Filipino
major students.
4. The participants of the event will be situated in the center stage. The speaker will have to
pick in a bowl a question for him/her to answer. Each speaker will be given 5 minutes to
prepare his/her speech. After the preparation time, the speaker will have to deliver his/her
speech within the period of 3-5 minutes. While the first speaker is delivering his/her speech,
the second will be simultaneously preparing for his/her speech.
5. There will be flags raised to signal the speakers. The green flag would mean START. The
yellow flag would mean 1 MINUTE LEFT. The red flag would mean STOP. There will be an
overall score deduction of 2 points for every 5 seconds lapsed by the speaker.
6. The participant must be at the designated venue 30 minutes before the contest proper. Late
entries will have a 3-point deduction to the total score.
7. The judges’ decision is irrevocable.

JAZZ CHANTS
GENERAL MECHANICS:

1. The competition is a group contest by year level.


2. The participants must be bona fide college students officially representing the Education
Program.
3. An entry shall be composed of fifteen (15) participants no more, no less. The number
includes the instrumentalists and props men. Failure in following the desired number of
participants shall guarantee a deduction of two (2) points from the total points of an
entry.
4. Each competing team shall recite two (2) pieces: a. Side piece about the classroom
situations in local or native language; and b. Competition/Jazz Chants piece provided
by the club.
5. The performance shall be delivered in five (5) to six (6) minutes.
6. There will be one (1) point deduction from the average points for every one (1) minute
over time.
7. Three (3) copies of the side piece (in Arial, size 12) must be submitted to the JMAFTE
committee at least three (3) points will be deducted from the total points of the
contestant.
8. Participants must memorize the piece.
9. Contestants shall wear costumes that are decent. The use of harmful props and
performing violent stunts are not allowed.
10. The use of electronic musical instruments is allowed.
11. All contestants must be at the venue at least thirty (30) minutes before the contest
proper. Late entries will be disqualified from the competition.
12. Draw lots shall be done thirty (30) minutes before the contest proper.
13. Judging shall be made through “Ranking System”.
14. In case of tie, the Board of Judges shall convene and break the tie through point system.
15. The Chairperson of the Board of Judges or the Emcee shall proclaim or announce the
winner.
16. The decision of the Board of judges is final and irrevocable.

CREATIVE STORYTELLING
GENERAL MECHANICS:

1. The participant must be a bona fide student of St. Mary’s College in the second semester
of the school year 2014-2015.
2. The participant must never have won in any creative storytelling contests before be it
local, national or international.
3. There will be one BEED participant per year level.
4. The participant will be given the liberty to select any literary piece. The medium of
communication can either be English or Filipino.
5. The participant will be allotted a span of 3- 5 minutes to deliver the story.
6. The participant will interpret the piece with appropriate props and costumes. Usage of
harmful objects as props will deem a 5-point deduction to the total score.
7. The participant must be at the designated venue 30 minutes before the contest proper.
Late entries will have a 3-point deduction to the total score.
8. The judges’ decision is irrevocable

AESTHETICS ACCENT
GENERAL MECHANICS:

1. The competition is a group contest by year level, where majority of the participant
are BEED students.
2. The participants must be bona fide college students under the Education program.
3. Fifteen (15) to twenty (20) participants shall compose an entry.
4. The organizers will give two (2) scenes to be dramatized for rounds 1 and 2.
5. Participants shall be given thirty (30) seconds to prepare and fix the stage.
6. Participants shall have their initial freeze for ten (10) seconds. After the initial
freezing state, a buzzer sound will be heard which will signal the participants to
dramatize a given scene. The dramatization will only be allotted two (2) minutes
only. A second buzzer sound will be heard to indicate the final freezing state for ten
(10) seconds.
7. The usage of harmful paraphernalia and performing violent students are strictly
prohibited.
8. Tagalog will be the medium of communication.
9. The usage of foul words will mean a deduction of three (3) points to the overall score
of the participants.
10. Violation of rules no. 1,2,3,7 and 8 will mean an automatic disqualification.
11. The chairperson of the Board of Judges or the Emcee shall proclaim or announce the
winner.
12. The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.

SCIENTIST AND MATHEMATICIAN KALOKA-LIKE


GENERAL MECHANICS:

1. The contestant must be officially enrolled in St. Mary’s College of Tagum on the second
semester of the school year 2014-2015.
2. Every YLO is required to have one (1) official contestant. He/she can be coming from
BSED- Biological Sciences or BSED- Mathematics.
3. The contestant must choose a foreign/Filipino scientist or mathematician.
4. The contestant shall wear costumes that will resemble his/her chosen
scientist/mathematician. Vulgar attires are strictly prohibited and will mean a
deduction of two (2) points to the overall score of the participant.
5. Each contestant shall be given 3-5 minutes to present one of the inventions and
contributions of his/her chosen scientist/mathematician. The medium of
communication must be in English language.
6. The contestants must not use dangerous inventions and contributions that can
jeopardize him/her and the people inside the venue.
7. The contestant must be in the designated venue thirty (30) minutes before the contest
proper.
8. The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.

SEARCH FOR MR. AND MS. EDUCATION 2015


GENERAL MECHANICS:

1. Every YLO is required to have four (4) official candidates: two males and two females,
who will represent their year level. BEED and BSED should have one pair.
2. The candidate must be officially enrolled as an Education student in St. Mary’s College
of Tagum on the second semester of the school year 2014-2015.
3. The candidate must have a good moral character and pleasing personality.
4. The candidate must attend the scheduled practices for production numbers, stage
rehearsals, meetings and official candidate photo and video shoots.
5. Every YLO must provide four (4) students (coming from the same year level) who will
serve as assistants to their representatives. They are only ones who are allowed to help
the candidates. Dressing up should be done at the backstage. Hiring of make-up artist is
strictly prohibited.
6. The candidate must prepare for the talent show. The participant must also prepare for
his/her attires to be showcased namely: a CREATIVE JEANS, a FS UNIFORM and an
EVENING GOWN. Vulgar attires are strictly prohibited throughout the search.
7. A deduction of points or disqualifications shall be done depending on the violation
made against the set mechanics.
8. Awards would be given as follows:

b. Best in Creative Jeans Wear
c. Best in FS Uniform
d. Best in Evening Gown
e. Best in Tuxedo
9. Special awards would be given as follows:
a. Mr and Ms Photogenic

10. The top 5 finalists, who are going to undergo the Picture Analysis, shall be determined
by the following criteria:

SPECIFICS OF THE CONTEST:

Preliminary Interview
1. JMAFTE club should set a schedule and a venue where the interview will take place.
2. Each candidate should be asked a set of questions about his/her life, goals, ambitions
and point of views.
3. The candidate can use either Filipino or English as his/her medium of communication.
4. The candidate must wear white shirts and jeans of any color. Dressing up must be done
at the venue of the interview.
5. The candidate shall be at the meeting place twenty (20) minutes before the set time
schedule.
6. The preliminary interview of each candidate shall be presented through a video.
7. The criteria for judging are as follows:

Talent Show
1. A talent show shall take place the day before the search.
2. Each candidate must render a talent for an allotted time of 2-3 minutes.
3. The candidate must not use props and acts that are hazardous in nature.
4. Submission of instrumentals or any musical accompaniments (if desired) must be done 3
days before the talent show.
5. The candidate must be at the venue an hour before the program.
6. The criteria for judging are as follows:

Education students.

Picture Analysis
1. The top 5 finalists of the male and the female category shall be the ones to undergo the
picture analysis.
2. The contestants shall be given the same picture which will be projected on the white
screen of the venue.
3. The contestants who have not yet undergone the picture analysis shall be waiting at the
Old Function Hall and the organizers will make sure that the said participants will not
be given any clue as to what the pictures will be.
4. The contestant shall be given 1-2 minutes to deliver his/her answer. A busser sound
shall be heard when the time has already exceeded.
5. The criteria for judging will be as follows:

SONG COMPOSITION
GENERAL MECHANICS:

1. The contestant/s must be officially enrolled in St. Mary’s College of Tagum on the
second semester of the school year 2014-2015.
2. Every YLO is required to have an original song composition.
3. The composition entry must not have been commercially released (recorded, distributed
or sold to the public.
4. The composition entry must not infringe the copyright of any party. The contest
committee reserves the right to disqualify an entry if in its judgment the entry infringes
the copyright of another part.
5. The composition entry must have not previously qualified for the grand finals of any
music competition.
6. Registration and submission of musical accompaniments will be held three (3) days
before the contest proper.
7. If in group (more than two participants), the signature of the main representative
embodies the whole group. She/he will be contacted by the manager.
8. The composition may be written in Filipino or English language. The song must convey
a positive tribute for teachers using any or combination of the following musical genres:
pop, jazz, ballad, folk, reggae, R&B, mellow rock, middle of the road and easy listening.
9. A duly accomplished entry form must accompany each entry signed by the composer.
Participants submitting more than 1 entry should record each song individually on a
compact disc (CD).
10. Maximum length of the song is 4.0 minutes, including the intro and the outro. Musical
accompaniment of entries is any or combination of the following instruments: piano,
guitar, bass guitar, drums, brass and wind/woodwind instruments.
11. Verbal introduction and explanations which are not part of the song are not allowed.
12. Entries must be submitted in a short brown envelope containing the following items:
The filled out entry form and the lyrics of the song indicated with the proper musical
elements (notation or chords).
13. The composition will be performed live with an allotted time of 5-7 minutes including
the preparation of the stage and setting the musical technicalities.
14. The contestant/s must be inside the gym thirty (30) minutes before the start of the
contest.
15. A deduction of points and disqualifications shall be done depending on the violation
made against the set mechanics.
16. The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.

I-BILIB
GENERAL MECHANICS:

1. Each year level of Education Program shall prepare an experiment through a video
presentation.
2. Participants should be a bona fide student of St. Mary’s College of Tagum, Inc. and
enrolled to the Education Department of the said institution.
3. Each entry must consist of 2-3 members from Biological Science Major.
4. The venue of the Contest is at the MIMPH.
5. Participant should be in the venue 30 minutes before the contest starts.
6. The participant should wear their Laboratory gowns during contest proper.
7. Any kind of experiments are allowed to be performed as long as contestant will provide
safety precautions in performing the experiment. ( Outdoor experiments are permitted if
necessary for the experiment to be performed)
8. Participants should wear proper experimental attire during the conduct of the
experiment – they should wear laboratory gowns, gloves, mask, laboratory glasses and
other equipment for safety purposes.
9. Participants are given 3-5 minutes for the video presentation of the experiment. It is
MP4, MPEG-4 or AVI in format.
10. The video should include the materials used and scientific explanation (voice over)
behind the experiment.
11. Videos should be given a day before the contest before 5:30 in the afternoon.
12. After the presentation, for 3 minutes the judges will give two to three questions
regarding the experiment done to be answered by the participants.
13. The total time allotted for each entry will be 6 - 8 minutes.
14. The decision of the board of judges is final and irrevocable.

MASINING NA SABAYANG PAGBIGKAS
MGA MEKANIKS NG PALIGSAHAN:

1. Ito ay maaring lahukan ng mga: mag-aaral na kasalukuyang kumukuha ng asignaturang


Filipino sa kolehiyo ng St. Mary’s College of Tagum, Inc. (mga obligadong lumahok sa
paligsahan) at mga mag-aaral ng St. Mary’s College of Tagum, Inc. na kumukuha ng
kursong Edukasyon.
2. Bawat kalahok ng pangkat ay bubuo ng mula 10 hanggang 20 kasapi.
3. Isang pyesa lamang ang maaaring gamitin sa paligsahan at ito ay “Ang Buhay ng Tao”
na akda ni Jose Corazon de Jesus.
4. Ang mga kalahok ay bibigyan ng tatlo hanggang limang minuto (3-5 minutes) upang
tapusin ang pyesa.
5. May kabawasan sa bawat Segundo ang pangkat na lalampas sa hinihinging takdang
oras upang tapusin ang pyesa:
1 puntos para sa 1-5 segundo
2 puntos para sa 6-10 segundo
3 puntos para sa 11 segundo pataas.
6. Sa kasagsagan ng paligsahan may itataas na bandila ang mga tagapangasiwa ng
paligsahan. Ang asul na bandila ay itataas kung maaari nang magsimula ang mga
kalahok. Ang dilaw na bandila ay itataas kung kalahati na sa itinakdang oras ang
natitira. Ang pulang bandila ay hudyat na kalahati ng minuto nalang ang natitira sa
mga kalahok.
7. Bilang paggalang sa “poetic right” ng may-akda, hindi pinahihintulutan ang
pagkakaltas ng mahahalagang salita o kaisipan sa nasabing pyesa. Bagamat yaon ay
ipinagbabawal, maaaring payagan ang pagdaragdag ng ilang mga pantulong na salita
ang pyesa – ito ay dapat hindi naman makakaapekto sa naisipahayag na kahulugan ng
may-akda.
8. Ang paglalapat ng himig, tunog o awitin habang bumibigkas ay maaring gawin ng mga
kalahok.
9. Ang pagsusuot ng mga kasuotan, paglikha ng mga props or pagkakaroon ng koryograpi
ay kinakailangan upang makaragdag sa pagiging malikhain at ikagaganda ng
presentasyon.
