3. Sally is receiving an IVPB of 35 ml of solution. It is to infuse over 20 minutes. How will you

4. Mrs. Kelly is to receive 1500 ml of Aminosyn through her central line catheter over 24 hours.
Her IV pump (which delivers ml/hr) is set at 75 ml/hr. Is this the correct rate?

5. You are to give Heparin via a continuous IV solution at a rate of 1000 units per hour. Your
standard dilution is 25000 units in 250 ml. At what rate will you set your pump?

6. Teddy is receiving an IVPB of Rocephin in 50 ml solution. It is to infuse over 30 minutes. His

7. Mr. Perez is to receive Dopamine at a rate of 7 mcg/kg/min. He weighs 187 lb. The
dopamine is concentrated with 400 mg of Dopamine in 500 ml. How will you set the pump in
order to deliver the correct dosage to Mr. Perez?

8. Mrs. George weighs 64 kg. She is to receive Dobutamine at 12 mcg/kg/min. Set your IV
pump for the correct dosage using ml/hr. You have 500 mg of Dobutamine in 500 ml.

9. Tommy is in cardiac care. He is to receive Lidocaine IV drip at 3 mg/minute. Your standard


solution contains 2 grams in 500 ml D5W. For how many ml per hour will you set your pump?

10. You are to give 2000 units of Urokinase per kg/hr. You have a solution of 2 million units in
250 ml solution. Calculate the hourly rate for a man who weighs 160 pounds.

11. Sally has symptomatic bradycardia and is receiving Isuprel (isoproterenol) per continuous
infusion. She is to receive 2 to 20 mcg/minute titrated to maintain her pulse at or above 50.
The drug is diluted as 4 mg in 500 ml. If you are going to give Sally the maximum dose of 20
mcg/min, how will you set up your pump?

12. Refer to the above patient. The bradycardia is improving and the pump is set at 25 ml/hr.
