I. Objective/s:
 Articulate observations on human cultural variation, social differences, social change,
and political identities (UCSP11/12SPUIa-1)
II. Content:
I. Sharing of social and cultural backgrounds of students as acting subjects or social
actors, agents, persons
A. Gender
B. Socio-Economic Class
C. Ethnicity
Content Standard:
The learners demonstrate an understanding of:
 The human cultural variation, social differences, social change, and
political identities
Performance Standard:
The learners shall be able to:
 Acknowledge human cultural variation, social differences, social change,
and political identities

III. Motivation/Strategies:
 Communicate Objectives.
o Explain the meaning of gender
o Differentiate gender and sex
o Explain the different gender orientations
o Compare and contrast the socio-economic class of the early and present Filipinos
o Explain the concept of ethnicity
o Enumerate the major ethnic groups in the Philippines
 Group Activity (Sing a famous song from the different ethnic groups in the Philippines)
 Discussions and Summary

V. Assignment/Reinforcement:
o Ask the students to answer the following question/s.
 Ask the students to consider what makes up their identity and which facets from
their identity are most important to them (gender, socioeconomic class, ethnicity,
religion, exceptionality/non-exceptionality, nationality). Then, the students will
think about how their identity has potentially been shaped by the media. Have each
student bring in or identify a piece of media that has personally impacted them.
