MLA formatting is an essential component to understand when writing papers. It is one of the
most common types of formatting that is required in academic writing. Throughout college, you will use
MLA formatting for several different classes and multiple papers that will, undoubtedly, need to be
written. Whether you are using it for English, Communications, or even an Educational Technology class,
it’s a useful base of knowledge you can apply throughout your career. Furthermore, by following specific
formatting, people can clearly find the information that may need to look for such as your name, title of
your paper, sources that were used, or the date that the paper was written. These reasons are why
understanding MLA formatting are so important as you go through the academic world.
