Yajurveda, Atharvaveda described
Hindus and Hinduism. It is believe that in
Hinduism their are 33 Crore Gods and
Goddesses ( Devi&Devtas) which mainly
includes:
 8 Vasus ( sky, earth, wind, fire, stars,
space, sun and moon)
 12 Adityas ( vishnu, indra, aryaman,
savitru, pushana, mitra, varuna,
bhaga, vivasvat, ansa, daksha,
tvastra)
 5 Abstractions ( bliss, knowledge,
thoughts, breath, life, speech)
 5 Names of Shiva( revealing grace,
concealing grace, dissolution,
preserving aspect, born at once)
 Self (atma)
 Sunrise and Sunset (twin solar gods)

Hindus basically worshiped Trimurti or
Tridev. Lord Brahma written four Vedas
and creator of Universe, he creates all
the living or non living things such as
rocks, air, fire, water etc.He is part of 3
main Hindu Gods or Trimurti and self
born God called “Svayambhu”,He is less
worshiped by Hindus as compare to
other member of Indian Trinity Vishnu
and Shiva due to a curse given by
Shiva. Brahma is consort of Goddess
Saraswati, Gayatridevi, Savitri. He has
Four faces (chaturmukha) and has
seven Avatars called Saptavtars, Few
temples are dedicated to him in India.
God Brahma is Guru of Knowledge.
Trimurti also includes Lord shiva and
Vishnu they are also called together
“Brahma Vishnu Shiva”.Lord Vishnu
also called Narayan, Hari, Jaganath etc.
He is preserver in God in HInduism and
he has 10 incarnation from which

KalkiAvtar is yet to be taken. Narayan is
Husband of Goddess laxmi they are
also worshiped as “Shree Laxmi
Narayan”.Vishnu is Vedic God.
Third member of trinity is Lord Shiva,
and God of Destruction. He is also called
Mahadev, Aghori, Mahakal,
Bholenath, Yogi. He is soul of the
Universe.The holy river "GANGA"
following his matted hair (jtas). He is
always dressed in Bhagambar. He is
consort of Goddess Parvati
andMahaShivratri celebrated in honour
of the lord Mahadev. Mahadev always
carry Trishula (Trident) & DAMRU
(musical instrument) with
him."Nandi"(Bull) gate Guardian of
shiva.White colour of nandi represents
purity.

  Goddesses(Devis)
Along with Male Trinity Female Trinity
also important as well. ”Kali
LaxmiSaraswati” are three member of
trinity. Goddess Kali Destructor of Evil
Powers, Kali means Kaal or Blackish and
also worshiped as Mahakali, Bhadrakali,
Chandi etc. She always shown in
pictures Nude which means she is
beyond of Maya and always wear a skirt
made with Human hands or Lion's skin.
According to Hindu Mythology Goddess
kali is Avatar of MaaParvati. Kali Maa is
a Great protector. Mother of destruction
wound the demon named RAKTABIJA.

Raktabija,Goddess was full of anger, she
starts killing every creature on earth
then only the Lord Shiva was laid in her
path to stop her.Second member of
Female Trinity is MaaSaraswati,she is
Goddess of Music, She is Indian
Goddess of Music. MaaSaraswati often
seated on white male Swan(Hamsa is
sacred bird). She dressed in pure white
which means light & SATWA GUNA or
Purity She is discovered mantras and
melodies.Saraswati means Goddess of
“Flow less”.She is always located near
the River. Savitri&Gayatri is also
Saraswati's Avatar. Goddess of music
and Knowledge also called “VACHI,
BRAHMI”.Goddess Laxmi( Lakshmi) is
the third member of female trinity.
Laxmi Mata was born from CHURNING
OF THE OCEAN (SamudraManthan). She
is daughter of Samundra she is also
called Mahalaxmi, Sri Devi. She is wife

of Lord Vishnu.She used Elephant or Owl
as her Vahana(Vehicle) The owl signifies
the patient striving to observe, see and
discover knowledge particularly when
surrounded by darkness.Idol of Goddess
Laxmi always kept along with Lord
Ganesha. They are always worshiped
together in Indian on Festivals like
Diwali, SharadhPurnima and Laxmi
Pooja. As she is consort of Vishnu,She
mostly shown in paintings sitting along
with Lord Vishnu in Ocean.She is Shakti
of Lord Vishnu and also known as
Narayani.

Goddess Durga also mostly worshiped

by Hindus. She is also known
asNavDurga. Her nine Avatars are
worshiped during Navratri:
