Operator Terminal
Technical description
1.2 Functions
The terminal holds a graphical display that gives the opportunity to display the below
listed functions:
SQ-Activated
Key- Activated
Fault functions
Call queue for incoming calls
Call queue for out going calls
Dialled digits
1.3 Keyboard
Besides the numeric keypad holding keys from 0-9 and *, # the terminal holds 16
programmable keys. These keys can be used for e.g. PTT, Channel change, Base
Station select, Queue select or Call. Each key holds a red LED that indicates the
keys actual status. The use of the keys are programmed in the set-up program and
down loaded via the COM port. Key covers for general functions are available from
stock whereas special covers may be ordered to go with a specific project.

Base 1: is used to connect the Radio Base Station. The port can be programmed for
either local or line control.
Base 2: Can be used to connect another Radio Base Station, but may also be used
to cascade couple another TE10-39 terminal.
12V: A 12V DC input that can either be delivered from an 84-PS-2, or from the Radio
Base Stations 12V DC power supply that is if this can provide the needed current.
RS232: Used for up and down loading set-up parameters, but also for downloading
new firmware if required.
I/O: This connector holds 7 connections towards a common ground. Each
connection can be configured to either an input or an output. The outputs are open
collectors whereas the inputs are internally pulled to 5V via a 33kΩ resistor.
Headset 1 and Headset 2: Both connectors holds the same connections. As default
the ports are configured for Plantronics Headset (Microphone 8mV), but the ports
are adjustable in sensitivity and level so they can be configured for e.g.
Microtelephone or hand microphone.
Ext. mic.: This connector is used to connect a gooseneck microphone. Whenever
connected the internal condenser microphone will be disconnected.
2.1 Flash
The memory is divided into four areas Data, Parameters, DSP and Main-program. A
download program is used to update parameters, data and program via the RS232
port. All contained in the same 4 Mbit flash.
2.2 CPU
The main processor is a V25, which is in the 8088 family. In combination with the
flash and 32Kbyte RAM the processor carry out’s the terminals functions. The CPU
communicates with the peripherals via a MAX7064 (programmable logic). 2 serial
ports are lead from the CPU to the RS232 connector via a MAX232.
2.3 DSP
All tone sequences and attention tones are generated by the DSP. Further it is used
for FSK signalling and matrix functions. All audio connections hold it’s own Codec.
The PCM-converted signal is lead to the DSP where it will be switched to other
Codec listening to the input. Level-adjustment is implemented in both the Codec’s as
well as in the DSP. The following tone encoders are available CCIR, DTMF, ZVEI.
The following tone decoders are available CCIR and ZVEI.
2.4 Keyboard
Both keys and LED’s are scanned. A common scan-output for both LED’s and keys
are used. The CPU on the HM730 module controls the scan function, and the
MAX7064 on the HM731 is used as port-expander. The routine used for the
scanning allows detection of 2 keys pressed simultaneous e.g. PTT can be pressed
together with another key.
2.5 Display
The terminal holds a 64 x 128 dots graphical display. The Flash holds a character
set and the CPU controls every dot. The luminance and contrast is controlled using
pulse width modulation. The display has a negative output which together with the
implemented transistor-solution makes it possible to adjust from -5V to +5V on the
contrast-input.
2.8 Watchdog
The watchdog is made by a MAX705. It monitors both voltage and program course.
If pulses are not received in the correct frequency the program will be reset.
