Domain 4:

 How are you showing each component of Domain 4 in your field placement classroom?
For reflecting on teaching, I am meeting with my CT after each lesson to get their feedback and
suggestions. It is useful to have a different opinion for how to improve. My CT has brought to
my attention many things that I would not have noticed. For maintaining accurate records, my
school uses a website where all attendance and grades have to be entered into. Additionally, we
collect data on students and change lessons and groups based on what the data is showing us. For
communicating with families, my CT uses Class Dojo, https://www.classdojo.com/ (it’s free) as
the main method to stay in touch with families about upcoming tests, homework assignments,
absences and any other parental ideas or concerns. For professional development, I have taken
part in trainings on using Google classroom and i-Ready in our class. I also took part in the
“Trunk or Treat” event at the school. For growing and developing professionally, I am always
open to feedback and new ideas. My CT suggested that I praise the students more when they
have completed something correctly and I have made a point to praise more. For showing
professionalism, I always arrive to work on time, I have only missed one day this year due to my
son being sick. I respect all students and staff and am honest with them.
 What did you learn about/from the resources this week?
I learned that we don’t have to reinvent the wheel every time we lesson plan. We can adjust and
modify ideas found online based on what works best for our students and the resources that we
have in our classrooms.
 What professional community will you become a part of? What do you hope to learn from that
community?
I signed up for Education week while doing research for another class and have enjoyed their in
depth writing about topical issues that teachers face. I hope to stay informed about the changes
the ESSA will bring.
 What resource will you continue to follow and why?
I like Vicki Davis’ blog, http://www.coolcatteacher.com/ because the first post about online
projects grabbed me. Since attending the training on Google classroom I have been trying to
organize myself and find the courage to try this with my students. Has anyone tried it? How did
it go?
 What new resource did you find that you can share with us to contribute to our class network?

A resource that is popular at my school and used by my CT for homework and additional
assignments is https://www.readworks.org/. This free for teachers website allows teachers to find
interesting texts for all reading levels with comprehension questions included.

A resource that I use is http://www.colorincolorado.org/ for information about and resources to

use with English Language Learners.
