Description of data 1. Hikers underestimate the hiking trails.

Eg: Hikers underestimate the hike up Bukit Tabur as the terrain very
GRAPH 1 challenging. This is because Bukit Tabur is not a hill with high peak
and some of the climber can hike in a day pack. Mostly people went
to Bukit Tabur to watch the sunrises or sunset.. March 28,2009: two

during hiking)
2. The hikers are not properly equipped before going hiking.
Eg: Many who trek up to watch the sunset also fail to bring torchlight
for their trip down once it gets dark. For instance, the trails for
Gunung Datuk is full with rocks and walking in the dark without any
help of lights will increase the chances of astray.
3. The trails are confusing.
Eg: People with no hiking experience in some places should bring
mount guides with them. For example, there are many entry for
entering Bukit Tabur. If they do not know the right trail, they might
be lost.
Descrption of data 1. Heart Attack/ Out of Breath
Eg: Hikers are not fully equipped with physical fitness. Sometimes
hikers are too old to do this outdoor activity. March 19,2016: a
GRAPH 2 54-year-old man died after suffering a heart attack while hiking up
Gunung Datuk.
( Accident due to health 2. Slipped/ Fell
Eg: Can cause sprain ankle, arm broke and back injuries. Mostly
problems) happen at Bukit Tabur because it is known as Rocking Hill. There
are many ravine and edges at Bukit Tabur. Plus, the soil condition
also unpredictable. December 17, 2012: A 27-year-old engineer
survived with minor injuries after falling 100 metres into a ravine
during a hiking trip at Bukit Tabur. Chan Wing Sing was found to
have sprained his ankle and injured his waist.
3. Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)
Eg: Hiking too high. Always happen when hikers arrive at the peak
of the mountain. This problem occur due to less oxygen and
decreased air pressure at high altitude . Hikers could not control
their breathing. This is because hikers do not have any experience
to handle it. September 18, 2013: a guy, 26, Khairuz Elfi Mansur
died after descending from Mount Kinabalu. The deceased
succumbed to Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).
4. Sudden death
Eg: A case reported on March 20,2016: a guy, Hannan
Kamarzaman, 26 died suddenly due to heat stroke. This happen
because he goes for a hike during heatwave caused by the El Nino

phenomenon.
Description of data 1. 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck Sabah

GRAPH 3 was reported that there are 18 climbers were died including the
mountain guides and 2 went missing.
( Accident due to natural

disaster)

Conclusion

Conclusion Hiking can be a joyful recreational activity but sometimes it can lead
to accidents. There are many unexpected accidents that can happen
during hiking such as people went missing during hiking, accident
due to health problems and accident due to natural disaster.

Recommendation Hiking can be a fun recreational activity that brings us close to

nature but with improper preparation can lead us to undesired
accident. This is why hikers need to prepare themselves physically
and mentally before hiking.
