Age: 10-12 English Adverbs of Frequency

Adverbs are words or phrases that modify or describe an adjective,


verb or another adverb.
Adverbs of Frequency answer the question "How often?" or "How
frequently?"
They tell us how often somebody does something.
Adverbs of frequency tell us how often something happens/is the case,
happened/was the case , will happen/will be the case, etc.
Adverbs of frequency come before the main verb (except the main
verb "to be")
There are lots of them.
Here are some examples:

The Position of the Adverb in a Sentence

Subject + adverb + main verb


An adverb of frequency goes before a main verb
(except with To Be).
Subject + to be + adverb
An adverb of frequency goes after the verb To Be.

Subject + auxiliary + adverb + main verb When we use an auxiliary verb (have, will, must, might,
could, would, can, etc.), the adverb is placed between
the auxiliary and the main verb.
