Work/ Leadership Experience

Teacher, KIPP Promesa Prep., Los Angeles, CA. July 2017 – Present
I am responsible for adapting long term plans, unit plans, and lesson plans for second grade mathematics. I work with an
instructional coach to develop instruction that is aligned with the Common Core State Standards, Bridges in Mathematics
Curriculum, and the KIPP LA Public School scope and sequence. I create and administer assessments that actively track
my students’ progress and mastery of key skills across second grade. I use data collected from each assessment to instruct
my teaching. I work actively as a member of our second-grade team to align instruction across all subject areas, and
address the areas of need of each individual student. I work closely with all stakeholders to ensure a safe, positive, and
rigorous learning environment for all of my students. I have attended 100% of my student’s home visits for the past two
years in order to foster family engagement. I am the schools Girls on the Run head coach where I lead character
development and physical wellness lessons for our third-grade students.

I was responsible for developing long term unit plans as well as lesson plans for third grade close reading of complex text
and writing. I worked with literacy coaches to develop instruction that is aligned with the Common Core State Standards,
Hochman Writing Strategies, and the District of Columbia Public Schools scope and sequence. I created and administered
assessments that actively tracked my students’ progress and mastery of key reading comprehension and writing skills. I
used data collected from each assessment to instruct my teaching points for my upcoming lessons. I worked actively as a
member of the third-grade team to align instruction across all subject areas, and address the areas of need of each
individual student. I was a critical part of the preparation and translation of the quarterly parent teacher meetings. I
worked closely with all stakeholders to ensure a safe, positive, and rigorous learning environment for all of my students.
As a general education teacher, I attended all of my students IEP meetings. I also translated for 85% of the 3rd-5th grade
teams IEP meetings. I attended 100% of my student’s home visits while working at Truesdell, in order to foster family
engagement.

I was responsible for overseeing a group of 12 staff and over 250 students. I was responsible for providing a safe and
effective program environment conducive to achieving an educational experience for students. I understood state and
federal grant requirements. I maintained positive and open communication with my immediate supervisor, headquarters,
program personnel, school administration, faculty, and parents. I was responsible for effective program planning
throughout the year, including collaborating with the school-day initiatives. I was also responsible for maintaining student
participation and attendance throughout the year via recruitment and retention activities.
