CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.HSG.SRT.D.10

(+) Prove the Laws of Sines and Cosines and use them to solve problems.

Big Ideas/Unit Goals:

Students will be able to utilize Trigonometry applications and knowledge in real life applications. These consists of by learning the Pythagorean Theorem and know what it
states precisely and be able to apply it on right triangles. The concept of Trigonometric ratios carries fundamental importance in Geometry, Trigonometry and other
branches of Mathematics and students will be able to determine the meaning in a Geometric perspective. Students will use Trigonometric ratios to find side measurements
and angles of right triangles. The relationship between the Pythagorean Theorem and Trigonometric ratios will also be explained to justify why we can find side
measurements of objects.

Unit Summary:

In this unit, students will be revisiting the topic of triangles and angles which is fairly common concept from the geometry branch of mathematics. Here you will see how our
previous learning of mathematics can help us understand and connect concepts from one branch of mathematics to a another one. We will be using our previous knowledge
of triangles to obtain a new perspective of them and their properties in a trigonometric perspective. We will discover something called “trigonometric ratios” and why they
are so helpful and essential to Trigonometry. Then, determine the key relationship between right triangles and trigonometric ratios through the Pythagorean theorem. Also,
we will have the opportunity to demonstrate the new knowledge gained by solving some real-life applications such as finding the height of object we see everyday.

Each section will contribute to their new knowledge
because they will read about the new learning gained
but also will apply them by answering the questions.
Finally, the graphic organizer allows students to
organize their new learning and ideas in a manner
that will help them in visualizing connections between
topics. Lastly, students will be able to practice the
new techniques and apply them to practice problems
to check for understanding.
