I. PERSONAL INFORMATION
Emma Watson was born on April 15, 1990, in Paris, France, but she was raised in
England. The actress obtained her great role as a child in the successful Harry Potter film
franchise.
Watson grew up on camera with the role of Harry Potter's best friend, Hermione Granger,
during all the sagas

After filming the Harry Potter series for a decade, Watson has become a famous actress
and model, participating in The Advantages of being a Flower of Flowers, My Week with
Marilyn and Beauty and the Beast

II. EARLY LIFE

Her full name is Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born on April 15, 1990, in Paris.
Her parents, both British lawyers, are Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson.
Her brother, Alex, was born three years later.
When Emma was three years old, she said she
wanted to learn how to act, and at seven she got
her first "acting prize" for reading poems in the
Daisy Pratt school competition. Her parents
divorced when Watson was 5 years old, and she
moved back to Oxfordshire in England with her
mother and brother.

Watson attended the Stagecoach Theatre Arts

school at Oxford. She studied singing, acting
and dancing, and performed in school plays.
Her natural instinct for acting first came out
when she won a poetry competition for reciting
James Reeves' "The Sea" at age 7. Watson had
never acted professionally when her theater teachers suggested her to agents looking to
cast an upcoming movie based on the first novel of the best-selling Harry Potter series.
A 9 years old Watson auditioned eight times for the role that would make her an
international star. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, who was deeply involved in the film
process to make sure it stayed true to the book, wanted Watson for the role of Hermione
from her first screen test.
T he Little Emma, of course, expected success, but she did not think she would win among
thousands of competitors for the role of Hermione. Watson went through eight auditions
and, along with Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, was approved for the role. The choice
of film producers was approved by Joan Rowling.

The first part of the saga about Harry Potter was released in 2001. The movie was so
successful that it broke all records at the commercial box office. Emma Watson became
one of the most famous girls in Britain and the world. But the glory did not change it.

Emma still loved spending time with her classmates and shopping with them. Unlike
Hermione, Watson did not like academic disciplines, but she liked sports. It is noteworthy
that she liked hockey especially.

III. START OF ACTION: HERMIONE GRANGER

Watson sufficiently impressed casting agents and the film's producers, and won the role
of Hermione Granger, Harry Potter's smart, bossy best friend and voice of reason. Harry
Potter was portrayed by Daniel
Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint was
cast as Ron Weasley, Harry's other
best friend. The trio of British child
actors would become known
around the globe for their roles as
young wizards fighting a battle
between good and evil. Harry
Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone was
released in November 2001.
Watson's 11years old film debut
was an enormous success. It
grossed more than $974 million
worldwide. On opening day in the
United States, the film made a recor breaking $33.3 million. It was nominated for three
Academy Awards, and seven BAFTA Awards. Watson's performance received critical
praise, and her status as an up and coming young film star was made.
For the next decade Watson stayed busy filming the Potter series. In 2002 she reprised
the role of Hermione for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, in 2004 for Harry
Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and continued to star in the eight part series through
the final film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, in 2011.

IV. COMING OF AGE

Though Watson's been closely identified with her Harry Potter character, as an adolescent
the young actress wanted to be seen as more. In 2007 Emma Watson starred in another
film based on a children's novel, Ballet Shoes by Noel Streatfield. The film was aired on
BBC One, and with Watson in the lead role, garnered decent, if not stellar, reviews.
In 2008, Watson branched out into animated work, voicing the character of Princess Pea
in The Tale of Despereaux.
Though they spent their adolescence on film sets, Watson and costars Radcliffe and Grint
kept up with their lessons, with five hours of tutoring each day. She took high school
equivalency exams, and made high scores in every subject. Watson took a year off from

6

school to film the final two Potter movies, but maintained that she was committed to
furthering her education.
Watson has tried hard to shed her child star image, one that's so closely tied to the Potter
franchise. “I have lived in a complete bubble. They found me and picked me for the part.
And now I’m desperately trying to find my way through it,” she said in an interview with
Vogue.

V. EDUCATION

The filming of the first and the following parts lasted

almost all year, so Emma had to move to the Headington
School for girls where she had the opportunity to study
part-time or in the distance. Even when the filming
process was underway, Watson and his colleagues did
their homework five hours a day. In 2006, between the
fourth and fifth of "Potterian", the girl received a
certificate of school dropout. She had eight "A +" and
two "A" in her academic record.
In 2008, Emma finished the summer course at the Royal
Academy of Dramatic Art in London and then continued
her studies at Brown University, USA. UU Geology and
literature were among her favorite courses.
Before the admission exams of Emma, rumors appeared
that Emma was not going to participate in the sixth series
of the saga. "I would not like to completely depend on
the filming process for the next three years," she said in an interview. But her departure
would end the hard work of hundreds of people involved in the project at that time.
However, the representatives of "Warner Bros." managed to convince her to stay. No one
knows what rate Emma has for her participation in the sixth part. For this, the actress had
to take an academic license.
In the spring of 2014, the actress graduated from Brown University and obtained her
bachelor's degree in English literature.

VI. ADDITIONAL CAREER

The first role played by Emma Watson apart from the Harry Potter saga was that of a
dancer Paulina Fossil in the television adaptation of the novel "Zapatillas de ballet" by
Streatfeild Noel. The lyrical film directed to the family was well received by the
spectators. The audience was particularly moved by the twins that Nina and Lucy played
for Emma's stepsisters.

In 2009, Emma delighted the audience with the movie "My Week with Marilyn." Emma's
part, that of Lucy's assistant, was small but memorable. Emma Watson, of legal age, was
impressive not only as a girl.

The following year, the film "The Advantages of Being a Flower on the Wall" was
released (a screen version of Stephen Chbosky's novel). The story was about a shy and
unpopular boy named Charlie who finally met people who understood and accepted him
as part of their group. During filming, Emma Watson became friends with Logan Lerman
(Charlie) and Ezra Miller (Patrick).
In 2013, she played a confident thief in "Elite Society" directed by Sofía Coppola. She
also appeared in the comedy "End of the World 2013: Apocalypse in Hollywood." Along
with other Hollywood celebrities engaged in the project, she played herself. In the story,
Seth Rogen, James Franco, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and other guests of a crazy party
are sleeping to the end of the world and try to survive. In the spring of 2014, she was
approved for the role of Ila, the adopted daughter of the biblical Noah in "Noah" by
Darren Aronofsky.
At the beginning of 2016, the young woman said that she would take a break from acting
for a year and that she would dedicate herself to personal development. "My goal is to
read two books a week, one for myself and one for my feminist project" Our Shared Shelf,
"she said in an interview.

VII. SOCIAL ACTIVITY

The initiative and energetic Emma realized a long time

ago that her high social status in society gives her the
opportunity to speak on behalf of those who can not talk
about their problems openly. She is more concerned
about the problems of inequality between men and
women. This was the theme to which she dedicated her
speech at the headquarters of the United Nations. The
actress has launched the HeForShe campaign fighting
against the oppression of women. The project mentioned
above "Our Shared Shelf" is a club of thematic virtual
books for feminists that was founded with the
participation of Watson.
“Both men and women should feel free to be
sensitive. Both men and women should feel
free to be strong ... It is time that we all
perceive gender in a spectrum instead of two
sets of opposite ideals.”

In addition to acting, Watson has modeled for Burberry in 2009 and 2010 and for
Lancome in 2011. In 2010, she was named Elle's style icon of the year. She also worked
with fashion brand Fair Trade People Tree to design a spring collection in 2010. She
graduated from Brown University in 2012 with a degree in English literature. She is active
in feminist causes and women's rights. Watson was named UN Goodwill Ambassador in
2014 and the following year she appeared on the TIME list of the 100 most influential
people in the world as a result of her activism

VIII. THE PERSONAL LIFE OF EMMA WATSON

The actress does not like to expand her personal
life trying to prevent her boyfriends from
getting scared by the media. However, some
information about their boyfriends was leaked
in the press. Emma Watson admitted that at the
age of 10 she was in love with her colleague
Tom Felton (also known as Draco Malfoy).

In 2006-2007, the actress left with Matthew

Jenny. The boy studied literature in Oxford and
played rugby professionally.

In her first interviews, Emma admitted that as a

child she was crazy about Prince Harry. Maybe
that's why in 2008, she got involved with a 26-
year-old Jay Barrymore, who looks exactly like
the prince, and even moved in with him for a
while.

Later she had relations with George Craig, the model, and his colleague "The benefits of
being a wallflower", Johnny Simmons. In 2011-2012, Emma Watson left with
Adamowicz, a graduate student at the University of Oxford. The couple separated due to
Emma's busy schedule. Her feelings did not resist the distance.

The press paid close attention to the relationships of Emma Watson and Prince Harry. But
the actress's manager said that people should not believe everything the newspapers write.
Recently, a scandal erupted around the name of Emma Watson. The photos of a nude
Emma appeared on the internet. It was a hacker attack. But after a while it turned out that
the photos are just a good Photoshop, and the star did not participate in the erotic photo
shoot. Fans of the actress often discuss her haircut. A recognized style icon is used to be
a fashionable girl. After filming the Potter saga, Hermione's curls were replaced by a short
haircut, which made the star's fans compare the beauty before and after the radical
changes. In 2016, the paparazzi caught Emma Watson walking with an unknown young
man. The man turned out to be William Knight, 35, a programmer and entrepreneur, a
person far from the world of cinema. Again, the schedules of both led the couple to a
break. Early in 2018, Emma came out with 4 stars from «Glee», Chord Overstreet

IX. EMMA WATSON NOW

In 2017, "The Beauty and the Beast", a film adaptation of Disney's famous fairy tale, was
released. Emma Watson played Belle, captured by a monster (Dan Stevens). The film was
one of the most anticipated premieres.
To prepare for the role, Emma took singing, dancing and riding lessons for three months.
Due to the scheduling conflict, he refused to play in another musical, the sensational "La
La Land". The main female role in "La La Land" was played by Emma Stone.

In 2017, "The Circle" was launched. The story is about a network called The Circle that

9

links all the computer data of a person. Emma played a young graduate, Mae Holland,
who got a job at The Circle. At the same time, the name of Emma Watson appeared on
the front pages of the yellow press for reasons that are not associated with her talent to
act. In March 2017, a group of hackers broke into Emma's computer and published some
of her "naked" photos. However, those photos turned out to be quite innocent, Emma
simply poses in her friend's bathing suits.
